Easy choice, the new look is way better. The thumbnails are a great addition, and will (perhaps?) enable people to find sets they've only seen built, without knowing the set number/name. (maybe a bit far-fetched use case, but hey, it could happen )

Also, the new look makes it very easy to see which sets have been reviewed, in case someone wants to do a review.

So all in all I don't see any reason for using the old look, the new look is better in every respect. (except that it's more work to add new links )

Aside from work, there is also the factor of page loading time. I'm curious at the result of the poll.

Definatly the first look.

The first as in the first index in this topic or the first one posted, which would be the old one?

Also perhaps selecting a voting option might make it easier to decide in the end

As long as the thumbnails are small that's hardly a problem. But yes, that is something to consider, especially if the index is very long. And I'll admit I'm spoiled with vast amounts of bandwidth, and thus not familiar with this sort of problem

I voted the old look - I'm a stickler for all things original, and I really don't mind it. Also, it takes far less time to scroll through all the sets. And if I'm looking for a review, then I know what I'm looking for and don't need the image.

KimT, can I ask you something?

Are you going to re-organised only the 2007 to 2008 Castle index to feature thumbnails in it, by using TLG pictures? As for the rest of the pictures, it will remain the old format. Is that what we are voting for the "new" index?

No the entire Castle Review Index is being voted here.

The above is only examples.

I've already done it and it's quite big

The pictures are the same as featured on bricklink.com's catalog pages.

For an idea on how long the New Look Index is, just compare the length of the 2 examples.

I think the new look looks quite a bit better.

It's much easier to find the sets with the pictures, especially if you can't quite remember the set name.

I vote for the new look!

I have mixed feelings about this. It's like double edge sword. However, your effort to build up this index, must have taken lots of time just to complie this. I am sure it's not an easy task after all. I will reserve my vote until the end of next week. I want to see how the rest of them generally feels.

New look here. Easier to find the sets and overall just looks very well done. Thanks again for all the effort you're putting into the index, KimT. And thanks to all the reviewers.

As they always say in product exhibitions, "Pictures for the men, words for the women". But really, I think the new version is better, simply because you can pick out what reviews you want to see quick and easy. As long as the pics are thumbnails, it's all good. :classic:

The size of the pics in the example is the same that will be throughout the Index.

Definitely the new look, with that you can find it without reading!

I second this motion for intentional illiteracy!

We don't wanna read. Deal with it!

Well, I don't mind reading, but seeing the set is even better since then I recognize it (most of the time) immediately.

I decided to vote for the new layout. I am very satisifield with the new Ninja and Viking index. I am sure it will work very well for the rest of the castle themes. At the same time, this will create more workload for the admins/moderators to maintain the index along with the thumbnails. Thanks for maintaining the index in such neat order.

Looks like the "new look" has won by an inch or so.

I'll update the Review Index later today and try to add all new reviews from the past week.

In a day or two, feel free to check for missing reviews and post such in the Review Index thread.

Thanks for voting and making this forum look like you want it to- well except the few of us who voted NO!

Man you know how to make more work for yourself dont you KimT!? Option A all the way. Being a male (as are most of us here) we are visual creatures so thumbnails do appeal.

A picture paints a thousand words after all! :classic:

And it's in "the making".

For now the Index is "closed" until I've finished making it.

Post comments and stuff like that here until then.

Thanks for voting all

I love the header; I might have to steal it! My favourite part is;

Old review threads may be "revived" but only if you've got something to say other than "sweeettttt!"

 Too true!
