While browsing Brickshelf I came across this masterpiece and though not really into castle I was quite stunned by the ingenuity of this builder

See for yourself:

Wow, all of those detailed buildings stacked on top of each other are great! Reminds me a bit of New York. I can see a Fabuland figure in there... also, I don't really think this is a Castle, rather a modular MOC like Market Street or Green Grocer, under the "Town" category, although it does have some Castle-like architecture.

A beautiful and very creative work, full of detailed, original and accurate buildings.

The concept´s fantastic and very clever and brilliantly realized indeed.

The backside looks also simply wonderful and very charming.

A magnificent and very authentic looking historic district, a pearl of beauty for any City layout!

Thanks for that cool find, simonwillems!

Dear simonwillems,

Browsing Brickshelf yesterday I noticed this one as well.

It has some additional folders containing two castles and the individual buildings.

so for anyone else reading this post: it is really worth your while to check the brickshelf folder.

I really like this terraced town, the detailing is very beautyfull.

Hopefully we will get some comments from the builder?

Kind regards,

Teddy

Oh yes, this is a great moc.

It is made by Aliencat, who is a member of Lowlug. The fabuland fig is used by him as avatar.

There are not just one but two Fabuland minifigs in this brilliant creation!

The attention to detail, realistic looking architecture, and funny Easter eggs make this one of the (if not the) best Castle related Town MOC's I've seen.

Kudos to Aliencat for creating such a masterpiece and thanks go to simonwillems for finding and posting it here.

On a related note, I second a move of this topic to the Town forums as this MOC is clearly meant to be a Town creation, not a Castle one.

For further proof just look at the keyword Aliencat listed for the creation - town, and that's the only keyword that is given.

It's a fantastic MOC. It's clearly built how they used to build towns before, with small alleyways and buildings nested together, with the castle/fortress located further inn and at the top.

Well, glad you guys like it, that means I am not the only one who appreciates this work.

If any MOD wants to move this to the t&t forum than that's o.k. with me: I just placed it in this forum because I was much more struck by the history part of this (History and Adventure after all) than by the fact that it indeed is a town designed to be placed in the present life, although with a castle feeling.

Hmmm... the more I think about it the more confused I get :tongue:

This is an amazing piece of moc, which makes use of hybrid concept to merge modular towns and castle design into a great piece of art. It represent the medieval feeling, living in a vibrant city which retains the rich history of its country. The entire creation is so incredible.

It’s a wonderful creation and rather picturesque, it reminds me a lot of those towns in Europe built round a castle that still look like something from a story book. It’s well made and I’d like to see more of their work, it’s a shame we can’t invite them over to receive the praise they’re due.

While it could equally go it Town & Train, I think it’s quite good in History as well as it provides inspiration for a medieval type of building.

This is a really beautiful creation. The structures all look great, and have been masterfully put together for a wonderful overall effect.

For all you wanting this to go in the Town forum, this may be in more modern times, but it's still a castle, and I think it fits fine here.

(If a staff member thinks it should be moved though, I won't mind if they do.)

Thanks for spotting this simonwillems.

Alright then

True, it seems you know me from Lowlug, what's your name there?

This castle-town combination MOC was also on display at the Lowlug meeting today, I don't know if you were there? It'll also be displayed at Legoworld in Zwolle in october.

There are not just one but two Fabuland minifigs in this brilliant creation!

Aha, you're both wrong ;) who can spot the third Fabuland fig?

This is absolutely astounding work. My stuff pales in comparison to creations like this. I wonder how heavy that beast is.

Too heavy probably but it comes apart into modules for transport.

It’s well made and I’d like to see more of their work, it’s a shame we can’t invite them over to receive the praise they’re due.

Who says you can't? Just think about me before you go to sleep and here I am :)

Wow, this is amazing! This reminds me of a Swiss town, Thun, that I went to... We parked downtown and worked our way up on various staircases to get to an old castle in the center of town.

Very well done. Now all he needs is a street, etc.

Egad, someone call Hinckley!

Is the third Fabuland fig in this pic:

In the bottom right corner, hiding in the rocks?

Nope, that's a dwarf ;)

That's because I'm very new to Brickshelf so I don't really know how this keyword stuff works.

Edit: here's some pictures of the Lowlug meeting, where this one was also on display. Also check out all the other creations there, the standards were really high once again. Especially some of the robotics guys had some impressive stuff that you unfortunately can't really see on photos 'cause you can't see "what they do".

Argh, now I've spent ages looking for that third Fabuland fig, and I think I found him; top floor, left window, tan building on the left (the one with two persons sitting on the roof terrace). Or?

Thanks for the comments :)

there is some really nice mocs in these gallery  , the Pick up AT AT with canon is cool !

The Star Wars stuff is all HJR's, I shared a table with him, but the Star Wars MOCs aren't mine. The AT-AT with the big cannon is my favourite as well :)

(and Quarryman: that building is empty)

Hello Aliencat, welcome to Eurobricks! Thanks for joining. :classic:

You must have hidden that Fabuland figure quite well... I was not able to find him. (But I did spot some cool details I hadn't seen before)

Well, I'm only a lurker on lowlug, but if I had a name there it would be the same as here.

I'm going to legoworld, so I will look for it. :classic:
