Teddy Posted October 8, 2008 Posted October 8, 2008 Que?What do you mean? Should I add tiles? Where? Dear KimT, You can see the wonderfull result of tiling over the tubes on the left tower of this wonderfull castle. Kind regards, Teddy Quote
KimT Posted October 8, 2008 Author Posted October 8, 2008 How is that done? Does that kind of construction include a bazillion of these:? I love that tower Do you have an "inventory" for the elements used to construct that gorgeus thing? Quote

Dear KimT, no I wish I had an invatory, but I think it can be done with a headlight brick on its side as well. Since the brick you propose is not available in yellow. Kind regards, Teddy Quote
Guss Posted October 8, 2008 Posted October 8, 2008 (edited) it's a really nice start for a round tower, maybe add tiles can be really cool as teddy said, but anyway it's going to look nice, even with the little tubes ^^ and by the way, Carcassone is really a wonderful city, if you never saw it , you have to visit it! KimT Posted October 8, 2008 Author Posted October 8, 2008 Do you think it'll matter when the tower is covered with yellow tiles? Using black as the base colour for windows and roof might make it blend in. Not that I've got nearly enough of either piece to do something like this.....yet Quote

Personally, I think a mainly single coloured tower will look better. You could make a small test case for comparisson? Kind regards, Teddy Quote
Matteo Kenobi Posted October 8, 2008 Posted October 8, 2008 All of it looks great KimT, although it is the first version of the tower it still looks great, well done so far! Quote

I'll just have to vacuum clean the LEGO store in LEGOland Discovery Centre in Berlin next week. Hopefully they'll have a PaB Quote
Teddy Posted November 28, 2008 Posted November 28, 2008 Dear KimT, any update on the yellow castle yet? Kind regards, Teddy Quote
KimT Posted November 28, 2008 Author Posted November 28, 2008 Dear KimT,any update on the yellow castle yet? Kind regards, Teddy It's been quiet for a while, but I've recently recieved some yellow brick packages. So hopefully I'd be able to work on it this weekend. The front gate design is killing me...I've got no idea what so ever on how to do it Quote

The front gate design is killing me...I've got no idea what so ever on how to do it There are alternate models on the box art of the yellow castle, which may be a source of inspiration. here is a link to a photo on brickshelf, the alternates are on the bottom and right of the box: here. Hope this helps. Kind regards, Teddy Edited November 28, 2008 by Teddy Quote
Teddy Posted December 15, 2008 Posted December 15, 2008 Thanks Teddy Dear KimT, any luck yet, on finding time and inspiration to build on your yellow castle? Kind regards, Teddy Quote
KimT Posted December 15, 2008 Author Posted December 15, 2008 Actually yes. I've been reworking the stables part and also the work on the main gate has begun. I'll post pics on thursday where I hope to have done a lot more work on the main gate. Quote

MrBlack103 Posted December 16, 2008 Posted December 16, 2008 This is shaping up to be on my personal "year's MOCs of note" list. Well done! Even more congrats because it is due to this creation that the list exists. Two suggestions, though. One, that the stable deserves a center column supporting it along with some arches. ATM it looks a bit "spindly" (I personally wouldn't care if it only housed 2 horses after this change). The other suggestion is that you get rid of the round tower. Don't get me wrong, you've done an amazing job on it (I couldn't do it even if I had that many 1x1 rounds, let alone in any particular colour). It's just that it doesn't seem to fit with the Yellow Castle's "style". Once again, a great MOC, and very deserving of a good old, classic smiley (or two , or three , and so on ). Quote
KimT Posted December 16, 2008 Author Posted December 16, 2008 Yeah I've been adding arches to the stables and a middle column. As for the round tower, that's exactly how I fell. I like the roundness (?), but it steps a little too much out of line compared to the other more classic designed modules. Quote
JimBee Posted December 19, 2008 Posted December 19, 2008 This is really looking spectacular, KimT. The towers have to be my favorite part, but the stable is also very interesting. Good luck on completing this to your expectations! Quote
Teddy Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 Hi KimT, have you found some time to update some photos yet? Or have you been too excited about all the amazing new star wars sets. Kind regards, Teddy Quote
KimT Posted February 17, 2009 Author Posted February 17, 2009 I've been busy with spending time at LEGOWorld and now I'm off for a few days. Perhaps and hopefully I'll be able to update this next week. Quote
Lordofdragonss Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 "Let's remake a giant yellow castle" idea is ingenious! I round tower is really nice and it should be main tower. And stables looks lovely, now put there some yellow brickbuilt horsies! I wonder what will you build next... Quote
Ricecracker Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 I don't think it's been mentioned, but the round tiled tower is Hinckley's, so I'm sure you could ask him for help on it Quote
KimT Posted November 26, 2009 Author Posted November 26, 2009 Mkay, this little project of mine has been 'dead' for a long time. But as I attended the SweBrick event I saw a pretty neat wall design by "robban" and it reignited me on doing this modular castle of mine. I've destroyed all previous elements and now I've restarted with a different approach "Size matters!" I've got a few pending BL orders, so you'll have to live with these pics for now. I am designing 2 walls and a gate for now. Later the towers will follow (hopefully). Without further ado I present "My Yellow Modular Castle Version 3.0" The surface will be tiled. I am not fond of the break from yellow to black and any ideas are more than welcome. Also I am considering adding black 1x1 round bricks instead of the yellow ones. Plus I might add a 1x2 black brick here and there to distort the over yellowness of it. Quote
Sir Dillon Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 It's good to see you still working on this and going strong! The new wall style is impressive, and I like the black additions. Do you feel the break from yellow to black is too abrupt? Quote
KimT Posted November 26, 2009 Author Posted November 26, 2009 Yeah I think so, which is why I consider adding those round bricks in black. Quote
