Frankly, I'm crushed at this news. I was so very much looking forward to picking up a few of these. But, to avoid the markup war that will surely follow this I am having a friend in Europe send me one when they are available.

Very disappointing indeed. Given that this is one of the few sets I was actually considering buying this year. Oh well, I'll simply pick up the maiden and Jester via Bricklink. I'm not really that put off by the markups given that those two figures are the only things in the set that genuinely intrigue me. I guess that LEGO still sees the North American consumer as being considerably less sophisticated than his/her European or Asian counterpart. Then again, I drive a Buick so maybe they're right  .

Oh well.

*bangs head against computer speaker*

Why does TLG have to do this to us poor North Americans... :cry_sad:

I really wanted those figs in the Advent Calendar, but I guess I'll just have to beat SirNadroj to a few on BL.

Any chance the good people at eurobricks could step up and help their American AFOL bretheren out?

Any North American people who are disappointed, be sure to sign the the Classic-Castle petition. I figure one big petition is more effective than a dozen small ones...

I had heard that the packaging doesn't mention choking hazards therefore the litigious nature of NA has made it impossible to sell there

Lawsuit central for TLG perhaps?

It's Lawsuit Central for everyone.

well this sucks .i really wanted to get a jester .will lego ever reconsider

I think this has to do with the law in America. but the strange thing is, TLC could easily print the choking hazard on the boxes.

I ( in Europe) heard that America needs to put warnings on everything, like:

watch out, coffee is hot. on the cups.

knife is sharp

and that you can't put a dog in a microwave to dry it, that kind of stuff.

Somehow you can sue a company in America if that company doesn't warn for the hazard. I can imagine a company doesn't want this.

It's true, and rather sad...

Oh, another good one is that on some wheelbarrows, they say "not intended for highway use."

LOL, you know it was tried to even lead to that warning.

Yeah, I'm an American, but I can admit there's an annoying tendency some people here have to blame everyone else for their problems and to demand retribution from elsewhere when they do something stupid. What really needs to happen is massive lawsuit reform, but I'm not holding my breath.

Wow, I'm surprised LEGO is releasing anything in the US.

But this is just 1 set against entire lines that Europe misses out on (like batman), and the many exclusives, sales, and generally cheap LEGO in US, so it's kind of fair. But I wish LEGO would just stop with exclusives and just release stuff everywhere and not let some continents miss out.

Well this is quite disappointing, and I know I haven't logged in or posted in a while, but this was important enough I suppose. Being a collector of Castle sets, I had to buy this, and was looking forward to counting down till Christmas. This also relates to the Good Wizard, who is much cheaper in that set then the giant monster chess set (I know I said I'm a collector, but I'll probably pass on that one). Like other people said, hopefully they will change their mind.

And I am also an American. Likewise to others, its pretty annoying that people need to be warned in order to not be able to sue. Even if its common sense that something should not be done. Things like wet floor signs are probably the only things that are reasonable to sue over if they aren't there.

I do feel very sorry for you all (although it is nice to be able to get something American's can't for a change.). Now I feel really lucky to be able to get one. I guess it makes up a little for all the great sets available in America that you can't get in NZ, like Avatar sets when they were out, and the like. I hope you people manage to get your hands on this set eventually though. :sweet:

I'll admit, that's true. It seems Reality shows and Soldier boy inhibit common sense.

I didn't realize so many sets weren't available across the world, so now I feel kind of silly for being upset about a couple of Castle items being exclusive to the rest of the world. Can non-North Americans at least buy Batman and such on S@H?

Hehe! I guess this is LEGO giving back for the "overprices" they charge in Europe. Now we can get some of the money back by selling this set expensive to the americans...

Sad that a whole massive place can't get this great set just because ti doesn't have a label on, which TLC could and should already just put on. But, funny to see all this moaning (I am on your side though) when in Europe we miss out on loads of things, crazy considering TLC is a European comany.

In my country I know we can, and others I think, but not in any shops, only time I ever saw Batman sets in shops was ina certain one that gets products cheap from other countries (where I got all my Batman sets) and the Batcave in Legoland Windsor (which I bought). No Avatar or SpongeBob sets for this country either, SpongeBob is on UK S@H but Avatar wasn't.

What are you complaining about? You are (or at least should be) all grown-up people, so you can buy the Advent Calendar from Ebay!

I think it's no good to laugh at people's bad luck, but now North Americans know how it feels. Just like I felt about Advent Calendars until 2007, or Mars Mission, or Aqua Raiders, or 7009 The Final Joust, or the Troll Battle Wheel, and the list can go on and on.

You don't get Mars Mission or Aqua Raiders in Italy? I feel sorry for you, because we can get them in other European countries like England and Switzerland (the two I know of) but you can't in Italy, which is relatively near Switzerland? Or am I misinterpreting what you said? :oh:

First the Good Wizard impulse and now this? Stupid, TLG. Just stupid. :hmpf:

As for the legal explanation, I doubt it. It would take a single sticker to fix that, they've used stickers before for choking hazard warnings.

I suppose that we learned about the pains of not having the sets that we were looking forward too. But the reason to complain about it is that it would be cheaper if it was officially released in America, at least that's my input. If TLC keeps true to this message, then I'll take a peak at the pictures of the contents and see if its worth buying on Ebay.

I wasn't laughing at that! I was laughing because people are crying how they will never get their hands on the jester etc., but from Ebay, you can buy stuff worldwide (and some times at reduced prices, even). So everybody's complaints are moot, in my opinion.

But yeah, I'm not a fan of getting different sets/themes according to where you live, either. :sceptic:
