hollisbrick Posted November 3, 2008 Posted November 3, 2008 Thanks for the news guys! I really like this theme from the start! And now all this hype has made me excited I will probably get the three smaller/medium sets! Quote
Algernon Posted November 3, 2008 Posted November 3, 2008 I'm actually quite a fan of the new retro color scheme , i think its a cool change, in fact , i'm tempted to get the whole range for once, i confess, apart from Bionicle , thats a first. Seriously, they are not that bad, better then Mars Mission any how. They might be as good as the 2007 wave, but 2008 Mars Mission is WAY better than this. Quote
The Rancor Posted November 3, 2008 Posted November 3, 2008 I'm also wondering if the scientist being called Brains is perhaps a not-so-subtle reference to Brains of Thunderbirds, especially as the Thunder Drill can be classed as a homage (of sorts) to the Mole from the same series... A scientist called 'Brains' A 'Thunder' Drill which looks like the Mole ... Next we'll be having Lady Penelope's Creighton Ward Mansion FAB Quote
kill will Posted November 3, 2008 Posted November 3, 2008 I just thought, if the rock monsters are mostly a transparent color, wouldn't it be possible for a trans minifig? I know it's been asked many times before, but if the rock monsters have minifig arms, it seems more likely. Quote
Algernon Posted November 4, 2008 Posted November 4, 2008 I just thought, if the rock monsters are mostly a transparent color, wouldn't it be possible for a trans minifig? I know it's been asked many times before, but if the rock monsters have minifig arms, it seems more likely. Check out the UFO series. Quote
hollisbrick Posted November 4, 2008 Posted November 4, 2008 Check out the UFO series. Really Any pics? Personelly I would love a transparent fig Quote
Bundalings Posted November 4, 2008 Posted November 4, 2008 (edited) I have the second largest UFO set, and the only trans parts on the minifigs are the heads. (The mouths open; the crystals fit in.) Oh gosh, I love this! Correspondance to the real life shameless use of resources and endangerment of non-human life, as in Mars Mission, is purely coincidental. Oh gosh, I hate this. WHY LEGO, are you so picky about guns and human violence, when you think it's just fine to go to Mars, capture the local sentients, AND THEN STICK A FREAKING TUBE INTO THEIR BODIES TO POWER THE FREAKING VEHICLES. That is SO wrong. And now their stealing the poor rock golems food sources? That's just sad. ;_; ~Bunda Edit: Mini rant exploded, oops. :P Anyway, love the golems and the human's helmets. Gonna have to get some of those... Edited November 4, 2008 by Bundalings Quote
Algernon Posted November 4, 2008 Posted November 4, 2008 Really Any pics? Personelly I would love a transparent fig It's just the heads that are transparent, but the UFO series had some of the coolest minifigs ever. By the way, Bundalings, the aliens aren't technically from Mars, and LEGO has been anything but picky about it's violence policy lately. Quote
The Crazy One Posted November 4, 2008 Posted November 4, 2008 (edited) By the looks of things, all the rock monsters have names and they have ball and socket joints on their bodies for improved manoverability. Oh no my mistake about the arms but they do have names from what i see. Edited November 4, 2008 by The crazy one Quote
Algernon Posted November 4, 2008 Posted November 4, 2008 Power Miners are actually growing on me... Quote
The Crazy One Posted November 4, 2008 Posted November 4, 2008 Power Miners are actually growing on me... Same, at first i thought they were hidious but now, i have already put money aside to buy all the sets on a huge shopping spree. Quote
Pickerel Posted November 4, 2008 Posted November 4, 2008 Power Miners are actually growing on me... I'd have to agree with you! If you look past the blinding glare of green, the screwed up virtues of MM and, more recently, this, and all the other things wrong with it, I see something for everybody in Power Miners. For military MOCers there's dynamite, lots of tank treads, new torsos, and weird giant wheels. For Batman fans there's a great Clayface custom just waiting to happen! Construction fans can get a great variety of orange pieces. Exo-force fans: meet your favorite theme's replacement. Reviewers get something to review (and hopefully not complain) about! Everyone else, well just like your new pieces! Overall, sure, the designer was colorblind, sure LEGO's gonna lose a few bucks, man I'd give a lot to trade lime green for purple, but we still have all of the things I just said but am too lazy to type again! I really think those are transperent shorty legs on the blob in the second pic! Yoda ghost?!?!?! Fingers crossed for transperent minifig parts, Pickerel Quote
Dr. X Posted November 4, 2008 Posted November 4, 2008 I had a dream last night that my brother got a Power Miners set.. and I was fighting him for the dynamite pieces, but then one of them broke. Then it ended. ... Could this be a bad omen? Quote
Algernon Posted November 4, 2008 Posted November 4, 2008 Honestly I think Power Miners will end up selling pretty well. It's definitely kid-oriented. It's got the bright colors, the functionality, the minifig parts, giant drills, a child-friendly storyline, and a different rock monster with each set... Quote
Pickerel Posted November 4, 2008 Posted November 4, 2008 I had a dream last night that my brother got a Power Miners set.. and I was fighting him for the dynamite pieces, but then one of them broke. Then it ended. ... Could this be a bad omen? I hope not! That dynamite looks like it's made from bendy plastic, so I'd doubt it would break. Perhaps your dream means the sets will be unsturdy and break into thirds every five seconds? Superstitious Pickerel, Quote
The Crazy One Posted November 4, 2008 Posted November 4, 2008 See, its growing on you, i think Lego have made something strangely fantastic here. Quote
Algernon Posted November 4, 2008 Posted November 4, 2008 Then again, maybe we're the only three people who actually think that. XD Quote
VBBN Posted November 5, 2008 Posted November 5, 2008 Exo-force fans: meet your favorite theme's replacement. Meh, it's too different. But it might do. Reviewers get something to review (and hopefully not complain) about! \ Very true. I might get one of these, mainly for the parts and to review. And for a rock monster. Quote
Pickerel Posted November 5, 2008 Posted November 5, 2008 And for a rock monster. I can just imagine an ad: Look Kids! Shiny! Plastic! LEGO! Explosives! You'll get all these things and more in the new LEGO POWER MINERS ACTION LINE! Yay! Watch plastic figures wipe out mysterious civilizations... without breaking the law! Yay! Look at those pointy wheels and huge flick-fire missles to kick Rock-Mutant @$$! Wow! AND we've got 5 different colors of mutants to wipe out! Cool! Collect them all! Remember kids, Shiny! Plastic! LEGO! Explosives! Each set sold separately. Available at select retailers only. No rain checks. Quote
The Crazy One Posted November 5, 2008 Posted November 5, 2008 Then again, maybe we're the only three people who actually think that. XD Good point But i still think that we might have something good hear. Quote

Algernon Posted November 6, 2008 Posted November 6, 2008 Will these be out in time for Christmas? Quote
Brainbox Posted November 6, 2008 Posted November 6, 2008 Then again, maybe we're the only three people who actually think that. XD Um... I seem to remember I've been saying that I like them since the very beginning. Or does that not count? Quote
The Crazy One Posted November 8, 2008 Posted November 8, 2008 Will these be out in time for Christmas? Hopefully, considering the early realease of the pirates, we might get lucky in having an early realese. Quote
