Matn Posted December 20, 2008 Posted December 20, 2008 Today I almost bought the Granite Grinder, while my father said I should better buy the Claw Digger (at 14.99 EUR) or the Thunder Driller (at 19.99 EUR)... I didn't buy any of them, I just couldn't think which one and I don't know if I really like it. I also got a stickersheet with stickers of the figures and sets, I'll scan it in and post it tomorrow if there's need for it. Quote

Derek Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 Bought the Stone Chopper at Target yesterday. It was the smallest set in the (very scarce) Lego Aisle, and the only PM set. It wasn't there when I first checked the Lego aisle, but I went back a second time and there it was. Maybe they put up some more sets after I left? -darthperson Quote
Chef Hatchet Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 I'm in need of 4 of the Orange BIONICLE Mahritoran blades that come in 8957 Miner Mech and 8959 Claw Digger. Now, I know 8959 is $20 USD, and Miner Mech is $8 USD. MM comes with two, and CD comes with four, the amount I need. Buying two MMs would cost approx. $18.00 (including tax). That's only a few dollars off from Claw Digger, and egtting that means I won't need to get a duplicate. I ask you this: Which one is a better set? Quote

Miner Mech really didn't look all that GREAT in it's review.... I mean the back is totally blank and it has pretty limited stability. Also IMHO it just looks clumbersome. So go ahead and pick up Claw Digger it looks great from what I've seen and just looks better. Of couse if you wanna build an army, why not go with 2 Miner mechs? They fit the army building part. So finale verdict: Wanna army? Miner Mechs. Wannna a set that just looks great? Claw Digger. Just my two cents Quote

Brickmaster Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 I'm sorry if someone brought up this point before, I don't want to read through 32 pages to make sure. But I did alittle research, and brainstorming, over the odd color choice of lime green. It appears alot of the lime green parts used were previously used in other production sets. And if you have some knowledge of how sets are produced, they make a constant supply of pieces rather than finding exact part counts for exact amounts of sets. This means alot of extra pieces - potentially extra lime green pieces. Could it be PowerMiners are just a clever use of extra parts? No matter how you take it, I enjoy the theme genuinely. Quote
Trexxen Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 (edited) Brickmaster, that is true - but some of these parts are at least somewhat new, and the orange definitely is. I do recall somewhere way back in the topic, someone mentioned that there were real mining vehicles with similar color schemes - but I think you're probably right, since Lime isn't a color used in large amounts in other sets...=P Also, Chef Hatchet, I'd say to go with the Claw Digger - better parts, a harder to get monster, and only having to buy one = win for you =P ~Trexxen Edited December 23, 2008 by Trexxen Quote
