Lord Of Pies Posted September 5, 2008 Posted September 5, 2008 Looks almost as bad as bionicle. I don't like the colour very much, hopefully their are some improvements before the sets are actually released, I mean c'mon red and green? Quote
The Cobra Posted September 5, 2008 Posted September 5, 2008 Hmm. Well, I gotta say, I'm a bit disappointed. The colours... they're a lot brighter than I expected. We'll wait to see better pics, shall we? ~Peace Ok, let's wait. Up to now, those sets look to me close to awful. Quote
PMJ Posted September 5, 2008 Posted September 5, 2008 Wow!!! A city impulse set! Not really. This is really disappointing. If this theme should replace RR, it should at least be good. Quote

Oh, Bionicle is far, far better.Yes, the colour scheme is one of the most megablocked up ones I ever seen. I had high hopes for this line, but...ugh. Shakar Quote
maiq the liar Posted September 5, 2008 Posted September 5, 2008 (edited) Ooooh, i love that mech, Neon christmas or not. Edited September 5, 2008 by maiq the liar Quote
Lego12 Posted September 5, 2008 Posted September 5, 2008 I just recently saved the pictures to my computer. The sets look ok, but there are A LOT of new parts. I see some drills, claws and other things. It looks like Technic to me....the colors are ok, but I am not happy about it....but they are preliminary, so I guess the colors could change. Right now I give the sets a . They need to make A LOT of improvements! Quote
Eilif Posted September 5, 2008 Posted September 5, 2008 to me....the colors are ok, but I am not happy about it....but they are preliminary, so I guess the colors could change. I also hope the colors are the result of overexposed and underfocused pictures, but these are boxes with set numbers for a line that's coming out fairly soon, so I don't think these are preliminaries. What you see is what you get folks. :( I hope it all looks better in the light of the toy store, but I'm a bit disapointed with most of the line at this time. Quote
Dadster Posted September 5, 2008 Posted September 5, 2008 (edited) They look like a disappointment... although I shouldn't really judge until I see better pictures. Quote for the truth. Seeing some Preliminary Pics is one thing - seeing the boxes in high-res or in-store is another... Also - I'd like to see the "monsters" more closely. Will they be molded like the RR monster? Or built up? I imagine they'd have to be (at least mostly) molded. Hopefully, they be awesome and I'll be able to snag some for forest/ dungeon encounters! Anyone else catch the numbers (at least that's what they look like to me...) on a few of the sets? I def saw "4" and "6". I also like the red (hopefully, it's not neon-orange...) chassis for a motorbike. Edited September 5, 2008 by Dadster Quote

Joebot Posted September 5, 2008 Posted September 5, 2008 Instead of a tired Rock Raiders rehash, I wish TLC had tried to do something new with this line, some maybe some kind of retro science-fictiony steampunk thing. Oh well. I'm sure this is just the latest in TLC's never-ending string of short-lived throw-away themes (see also: Vikings, Dino Attack, Aquaraiders, etc.). They're all pretty much the same -- lots of vehicles and action features, and a built-in storyline with humans vs. monsters conflict. I guess there must be some market for these types of themes, because TLC keeps churning them out, one after another. Quote
amateur newbie Posted September 5, 2008 Posted September 5, 2008 For un explaneable reason flickr pics wont work on my pc ........so could some please post actual pics not just links. p.s. could eurobricks please make a non-piraty bawling face Quote
Skipper 24 Posted September 5, 2008 Posted September 5, 2008 They look ok I guess, I quite like the lime green as I think they will look better than these actually do. Is it me or are those the old technic figs? Quote

MoWo Posted September 5, 2008 Posted September 5, 2008 How Old are we! Just...BLUE helmets?! And...A red bike!? I don't like it...! I like Rock Raiders better then this~! Undersigned MoWo Quote
Adam Posted September 5, 2008 Posted September 5, 2008 Sigh. I thought we MIGHT actually have a good theme here, but... after those shots, I have no hope for this theme. The green and orange color-scheme does NOT work well, and the large amount of technic bricks and <insert that tiresome argument> pieces make my skin crawl. The drivers themselves are disgusting too- please tell me that isn't more blue Exo-Force hair . I was praying for Steampunk, but, alas, my prayers were unanswered. If the color-shcheme had been different, I could have lived with it. If they were regular bricks, not technic ones, I would have been happy. If the figures had been really good, I would have jumped with joy. I was hoping for a brown and black color-scheme, but no. I wanted cool figs, but no. I wanted real bricks, but no. What has LEGO come to? Quote
hewkii9 Posted September 5, 2008 Posted September 5, 2008 What has LEGO come to? Well with these, no purple, and no NA Castle Advent Calendar, screw the fanboy seems to be the new trend at Lego. Quote
Eleven Posted September 5, 2008 Posted September 5, 2008 Anyone else catch the numbers (at least that's what they look like to me...) on a few of the sets? I def saw "4" and "6". I also like the red (hopefully, it's not neon-orange...) chassis for a motorbike. From what I can see, it looks like the set numbers are 8954, 8957, 8958, 8959, 8960 and 8961. I'm pretty sure about all of them except 8954 (it's too blurry). I'm keeping my fingers crossed that higher resolution pictures will show more that will convince me these are worth buying. I will usually buy at least a few sets from themes I'm not really interested in (including a few Duplo themes) just as parts packs, but so far I haven't seen anything that excites me about this theme (with the possible exception of the new monsters...I'll have to see...). Quote
Corvus Posted September 5, 2008 Posted September 5, 2008 Wow, this is the worst bashing of a new theme I've ever seen. Hewkii9: Really? What about pirates? I'm sure the horrible-ness of the red is from the quality of the pics- I'm sure it'll get better. Quote
metalandi Posted September 5, 2008 Posted September 5, 2008 (edited) I really can't understand why people are bashing so much at themes in which some kind of monsters are included, or better in which the storyline is based on human vs. monsters. What's the deal? Lego is still a toy after all, and that means everything is possible, it's just the same as with music or painting a picture, everything that's in a mind is possible. How boring would it be if everything was just about reality? What is it all without imagination? Think about it. And as the above poster said, you can't really say anything about the sets from these pictures, you can't even see the individual bricks themselves there, and which pieces are used, etc. etc. So just wait for better ones and then tell your opinion. hewkii9 Posted September 6, 2008 Posted September 6, 2008 Wow, this is the worst bashing of a new theme I've ever seen. Hewkii9: Really? What about pirates? What, did you never go to the Bionicle section when someone found Inika pics? I think the line could certainly be considerably better [blue helmets? come on, too much Technic as well] but there's definitely worse. And Pirates is an evergreen theme, ie it should sell a lot. This looks to be another short Dino Attack Vikings line, the Advent calendars have never been the big-ticket selling items, and Focus Group Jimmy doesn't give a flying frak about purple, purple doesn't shoot things. It's all about maximizing profit and cheesing off the AFOL while keeping their business. Think of these recent developments as Lego's version of introducing Jar Jar. Quote
Algernon Posted September 6, 2008 Posted September 6, 2008 All I can say is... these had better be preliminary. At first glance, I thought I was looking at a DUPLO line. Quote
Commander_Rob Posted September 6, 2008 Posted September 6, 2008 I am really unsure about this, the colours may be realistic for mining vehicles (as Sinner has said) but the combination of lime-green and TRANS-ORANGE ??!??!? Weird. And the problem I see with these parts, as with the minifigs is, if they have taken the effort of making these parts in these colours they will use them. And that is not good. Quote
Norro Posted September 6, 2008 Posted September 6, 2008 I'll hold off total judgement on these until I see better pics, but my initial reaction is, What the heck are these! This echos my sentiments so exactly that I'm going to brazenly copy your words God Bless, Nathan Quote
Algernon Posted September 6, 2008 Posted September 6, 2008 After giving them a better lookover, here are my thoughts: In regards to the color scheme, I actually LIKE the sand green, but you'd have to be colorblind not to dislike the bright red paired with it. It should have been gray, or even black. I sent LEGO an E-mail about that. However, I can let go of the color scheme if the designs are good. In terms of design... meh. It varies wildly. Some of them look like bad city sets, while others- in particular, the smaller drill set and the big mining platform- look intriguing. In order for me to consider ANY others they will have to be drastically revised. More detail on the arms of the cart thing would be good... and that DUPLO-ish cockpit needs to be removed ASAP. LEGO could make some changes to make this line much, much better... but if they don't... I doubt I'll be buying more than one or two sets from this new and disappointing theme. I sure hope Space Police is good. Quote
