Svelte Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 There needs to be an alternative to those horrendous click and ball joints that (a) work better (b) don't stick out like a sore thumb. Quote
xenologer Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 I think it was honestly a bad idea to begin with. System does not render large bipedal figures well. This was proven with Exo-Force and Creator and this set is just solidifying that principle. Jee, and I thought ExoForce and Creator sets were doing extremely well, I was always impressed anyway. I for one like the Crystal King, those new rock textured triple slopes look great and I'm sure will be fun to use. I also like the use of the new rubber tipped spikes on him, and they did a good job of using varied slopes on the legs to make things look very rock-like. Well, OK he needs knee joints, that's something to mod later... Quote
Skipper 24 Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 Just a quick question, who are the big rock mosters? By big I mean the big lime green one and the red one. What pieces are used for the CC spikes on his back? or perhaps they are moulded on to him but to me it looked like separate pieces. Quote

Is the big version of Boulderax and Meltrox when they eat crystals Quote
Asuka Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 Is the big version of Boulderax and Meltrox when they eat crystals Probably... although it could be just papa rockmonster too... Quote
The Crazy One Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 I think the main point we are missing about the Crystal King is that it was not desinged for us. Lego is a kids toy, and the Cyrstal King is prime example of junorisation. I admit, most of us don't like it , but almost all kids should. But the Tatanium Command Rig, in my opinion, makes up for the dissapointed caused by the Cyrstal King. Oh, Hotshot, it's actually Sulfurix and Meltrox, not Boulderax. Quote
Lordofdragonss Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 (edited) It must be blocky, he is rock monster, and rocks are blocky. xD And King is a really posable and playable set, and this is good thing. But, you know, the best thing is that you can buy it, and rebuild it! Or buy it just for parts...(Spiky things, slopes, rock monster parts) But Lego made a wrong move because we have too much Sulfrixes... As I said previously.. I want Crystal King Glaciator Edited February 18, 2009 by Lordofdragonss Quote

Brickthing Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 ;) That's just a colour issue. In that same folder, the yellow one is Sulrurix, and Glaciator is light-blue. There isn't a yellow or light-blue rock monster, so it's safe to assume that the colours have been amped up to high, and light-blue is dark-blue, yellow is neon green, and green is dark-green. Therefore, Sulfurix is the neon green monster that comes in the Crystal King and Mamma Monster forms, and Boulderax is the green monster that comes with the Mining Mech. Quote

Dadster Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 I was perusing BS and came across this pic ----->LINK except it was the thumbnail version and I thought it was a new Power Miner creation... I was thinking..."Well, the miners could use it to make an underground road." Quote

Dadster Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 It's a combine harvester, so it could be used for harvesting underground crystal fields/caves couldn't it? Sure. Definitely. I just thought it was amusing that, mostly due to the coloring choice, I assumed it was a new Power Miner set... Quote

Natman8000 Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 I agree Algie. Who says kids dont like fun and slightly more intricate designs as opposed to crappy slapped together blocky designs? Quote
Bfahome Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 (edited) And why on earth must a kid's set be poorly designed? Maybe because other people don't look at it so negatively. If the kids they tested the set with thought it was poorly designed, LEGO would have made it differently. If LEGO's target audience didn't like it, why would they sell it? The Crazy One Posted March 10, 2009 Posted March 10, 2009 What i meant to say was that if i was a kid and i saw that set, i wouldn't go ' hang on, that is slightly dispropotionet and blocky, i don't think i will buy it ', i would go, ' cool, a rock monster, mum, can i have this one '. Quote

Those episode are awesome and cute and the monster's eyes are hilarious. I really was laughing when I saw this. Quote

Glaciator Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 Are Crystal King, Titanium CR and the Rock Wreaker(?) the only summer sets? I was just wondering, that what might these sets be: Undergroun Mining Station: http://brickset.com/detail/?Set=8709-1 Cave Crusher: http://brickset.com/detail/?Set=8708-1 If those are real, that means we will have more summer sets/sets for 2010! I'd be happy if the theme would continue at least to 2010, cause I think these sets are pretty neat. Quote
Algernon Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 Those would be the TRU exclusives. Space Police has a few of those too... we haven't seen them yet. Quote
