Algernon Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 Power Miners is better than Rock Raiders! PERIOD DEFINITELY not. Quote
Shoc Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 The story line is shaky as well, addicted monsters?, c'mon your going to have kids going, "What's addicted mommy?" Well, that's good isn't it? Kids need to know about this stuff. I myself knew what it meant when I was about 6, maybe before. I guess I just liked to know words. As for it being the storyline, I think that's good. It's a way of portraying drug issues that doesn't get too political for a childrens' toy. :skull: Quote
LEGOMAN132 Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 I like the drill and the large set. Quote
tedbeard Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 DEFINITELY not. Yeah, you know what? Arguing Rock Raiders is better than Power Miners (or vice versa) sounds to me a lot like arguing that Brussel Sprouts are better than Cauliflower* when we could all be eating [insert favorite food here]. * apologies to anyone who actually likes either of these. Zarkan Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 Yeah, you know what? The Rancor Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 Prepare to get flamed, my friend. (J/K) I second that I just love the new green colour scheme The only gripe I have about what I can see is that the monsters should be bigger and the humans should get new torsos. (Currently the torsos are Mars Mission!? Quote
Kliq Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 I'm sold! While mining seems to be a common job among LEGO inhabitants lately, I could see using these in all sorts of different ways. How about a big mechanised battle arena with the Stone Crusher going up against the Thunder Drill. Quote
Bundalings Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 Ooh... I like the rock monsters, very cool. And the giant drill is nifty too. Don't really like the colors, though. =/ ~Bunda Quote
Oky Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 Woohoo! They are lime green! I love bright colors! These look pretty good IMO, but it's quite a disappointment to see of how much Technic parts they consist. Some of them even look like pure Technic sets. But they are still pretty to look at! Those new pieces that are being used as wheels and drills will make great jet engine exhausts for spaceship mocs! I'm not so sure about the rock monsters... They look strangely un-lego-ish... But I guess that's the point of a creature made out of rock. At least they are more movable than the RR ones. It looks like that one Power Miner is taking a crystal out of one of the monsters' mouth. I wonder if crystals really fit into them. Also, I wonder if the monsters' mouths have hinges or not - they could just be opened like the rocks from RR. And I have to agree that the blue and white uniforms of the miners clash with the color scheme of their vehicles. I hope that's prelim. I think I'll get the drill vehicle and the little mech for parts. Looking forward to larger pics. Quote
skelliesgang Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 the rock monsters deffo look like they will also be used as "clayface" for the batman line. if not, i now know where i can get a minifig for his substitution. Quote
JimBee Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 I'm still a little unsure of this line. The color scheme of the vehicles is okay. Not the best combination, but orange and lime green are pretty rare colors normally. I wonder why they used blue and white or the minfigs though... I hope TLG reconsiders that. I might grab a few of the smaller ones, depending on the price. Quote
RememberTheLittleGuy Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 IMO the colour scheme doesn't fit the theme . Question, Do they come with the Rock Monsters? Or are they just pictures? Quote
Johnny 5 Posted September 18, 2008 Posted September 18, 2008 Well, that's good isn't it? Kids need to know about this stuff. I myself knew what it meant when I was about 6, maybe before. I guess I just liked to know words. As for it being the storyline, I think that's good. It's a way of portraying drug issues that doesn't get too political for a childrens' toy. :skull: Maybe so, but to me its almost, "its ok to be addicted you'll be a cute little monster," I'm sure that wasn't their intent but these type of issues are best to not be addressed by children's toys, their best addressed by parents when they feel the time is right. JINZONINGEN73 Posted September 18, 2008 Posted September 18, 2008 After looking at the larger pics, all I can say is I was REALLY hoping that a lot of the lime was in fact glow in the dark. And what better theme to introduce such a play element? I mean hell, they're subterranean! Despite that, I still want these sets. I like a good deal of them for their parts, new and old. Quote
hewkii9 Posted September 18, 2008 Posted September 18, 2008 That depends all on everybody's personal opinions. I personally do think purple ist the most ugly color that has ever been invented, if in lego or in real life. I could puke if i just saw something made of purple. And how can you tell if something is <insert that tiresome argument> from these pictures? Did you not see the picture of the driller? The drill is like three pieces. Quote
SWMAN Posted September 18, 2008 Posted September 18, 2008 Too bad about this theme. In my opinion, it is a more cartoonized and colorized version of Rock Raiders. Quote
Draykov Posted September 18, 2008 Posted September 18, 2008 ...but one question i have is what is the weird helmet thing all the miners wear it doesn`t look very helpful and it doesn`t look like there is even a visor. Not sure if anyone has addressed that question (if so, I missed it), but it appears to be the old Rock Raiders helmet in blue (which I think is pretty cool). Quote
darkrebellion Posted September 18, 2008 Posted September 18, 2008 (edited) Well my first statement about this line when I see the prelim pics is the next: What the...? . And then after look at this new less blurry pics my statement continue the same but with less disgust . I think this line is really a lost opportunity of protraying such a cool line like Rock Raiders . I think the sets are made of many, many <insert that tiresome argument> pieces. I mean why the TLC is doing sets with really big pieces? The cool thing of lego is that you can mod the sets but with <insert that tiresome argument> pieces they just turn this into a mega"crap" theme . Well to be optimist I think the color sheme is not that wrong and that actually I maybe buy a set for the cool lime green . Edited September 18, 2008 by darkrebellion Quote
JINZONINGEN73 Posted September 18, 2008 Posted September 18, 2008 I agree... a little bit. The Bionicle line's playability is CHOKED by <insert that tiresome argument> pieces (which of course makes buying multiples of sets like you would with System mildly pointles...) ...but these are still pretty nice. There's not SO much juniorization going on that I hate them. not even close. Y'know... I never really looked at that helmet up close like that. Must. Have. I rather like the "Space" aspect of having that in blue. Something for the Lego astronauts to wear in pressurized environments. : p You can just slap any ol' visor on it, too. Quote
ForceMaster Posted September 18, 2008 Posted September 18, 2008 At once I will tell that it not Rock Raiders, is other series, Power Miners, it is visible unequivocally, photos have changed nothing. Not clear crossing of colours, wild mix System's and Technic's elements if I will take one set only on a detail, most likely the large bulldozer Is a pity that it not part RR which all of us waited) And still - excuse, began what to come seldom, on time I am not in time) Quote
tin7_creations Posted September 18, 2008 Posted September 18, 2008 the rock monsters look cool, but are my eyes deceiving me? or are the rock monsters all in different shapes and colors? Quote
Mirandir Posted September 18, 2008 Posted September 18, 2008 So I'm guessing that this is the new story driven theme that the creator of bionicles are working on. Therefore it's no suprise that there is large, kind of "overmolded", pieces... And thoose orange mudguards look like something I could use. Just unfortunate that they seem to come quite expensively since I'm not that interested in the lime pieces... :( Quote
Yloquen Posted September 18, 2008 Posted September 18, 2008 Yep, newer pictures look better, but still strike me as <insert that tiresome argument>. I'd prolly get 1,2 sets because of the monsters, they seem like the can be used in fantasy MOCs as stone golems :) Quote
Dadster Posted September 18, 2008 Posted September 18, 2008 the rock monsters look cool, but are my eyes deceiving me? or are the rock monsters all in different shapes and colors? Others have said that as well, but I don't see any differences... Yep, newer pictures look better, but still strike me as <insert that tiresome argument>. I'd prolly get 1,2 sets because of the monsters, they seem like the can be used in fantasy MOCs as stone golems :) Exactamundo! I even think that maybe these could be the guys the dwarves end up fighting in any new Castle sets for next year - as opposed to another (smaller) troll minifig. Skellies vs Humans. Trolls vs Elves (hopefully!). Dwarves vs "Golems" (?!). Quote
MoWo Posted September 18, 2008 Posted September 18, 2008 I Don't like it...But thats me... So much BIG UGLY PARTS! I think the colour sheme is kinda funny ! Hope it's gonna get beter Undersigned MoWo Quote
