Dennimator Posted September 6, 2008 Posted September 6, 2008 (edited) Hi all! Here´s my LEGO city(as said in the description, suggestions for a name highly is appreciated, because I really need a name for it in my SM-film). Please tell me what you think! And yes, I know that it´s partially demolished, that´s because I accidentally let my little sister into the patio(where my LEGO is)in 5 minutes. Anyway, here it is! An ICA shop: ...And I´ve not really found a place for these yet: Edited September 6, 2008 by Dennimator Quote
Bob Posted September 6, 2008 Posted September 6, 2008 A little cluttered but hey so is the NYC. Whats ICA? Nicely done. (Keep those pesky sisters out of there!) Quote
Athos Posted September 6, 2008 Posted September 6, 2008 I thought of a great name for a town, that I don't think had been used, but I can't seem to remember it now... Steve Quote

skinkfem Posted September 8, 2008 Posted September 8, 2008 its kinda hard helping when we dont know anything about the town. its clearly on the waterfront and probably located in sweden (if ica is an all swedish company that is) what type is the town, is it a picturesqu contry town or the suburb of a sprawling city? do you want a serious name or something you can joke about? do you want an unique or a generic name? if you want an generinc swedish name make something ending with köping or borg its amazing what small children/pets can do to toys on sutch a short amount of time. i must admit that im a little envious of your collection of matching roadplates. Freddie Posted September 8, 2008 Posted September 8, 2008 Town names are usually a product of either their founder (i.e. you), location, geography, resources and/or function. As you have a harbour and a considerable waterfront, "hamn" would be a natural portion of your town's name. Since I don't know your real name, I'm going to call you "Dennis" based on your username -> Dennishamn. Try saying it. It rolls of the tounge, doesn't it? But what your town is called, is up to you. Use your imagination as well, it gets more interesting that way. I've already landed on "Frederiksro" when I eventually get around to building it, referencing me (the founder) and it's function (my hobby -> relaxation -> "ro"). Quote
Guss Posted September 9, 2008 Posted September 9, 2008 man , you're building lego on this kind of floor ? you surely have lost a lot of bricks between these planks you need a name for it ? mhhh... "Tapis City" ( Tapis = Carpet in french, you built it on carpets ^^ ) Quote

The town is going to be more a, as you call it, "a suburb in a sprawling city". I haven´t thought about it as if it´s located in any country, it´s more like a blend of all countries... I´m going to re-build it in my second Stop-Motion film(I´m making a trilogy)with basically the same name, just with "new" in front of it, so I want the name to be serious. And about the roadplates(I´m going to go a little off topic here),if you are lucky, you can find incredible deals. For example, all of my roadplates (those in the city, about 10 more green ones and like 25 old gray ones) are from 3 separate auctions from Tradera(swedish eBay) for like 1200 SEK (180 USD) together. You "guessed" right, my name is Dennis. That´s some really good ideas you have there, it sounds like you´ve had problems finding a name for it too,you sound like you´ve thought about those things a lot! Thank you very much! man , you're building lego on this kind of floor ? you surely have lost a lot of bricks between these planks you need a name for it ? mhhh... "Tapis City" ( Tapis = Carpet in french, you built it on carpets ^^ ) Yeah, I´ve lost at least 100 pcs between them ,but that´s the only place there´s enough: 1:Space(to build the city) 2:Light (To make a good Stop Motion film with natural light) Tapis city?*tastes on the name* Yeah, that sounds good. Have to chose between this and Freddie´s idea. Thank you! Edited September 10, 2008 by Dennimator Quote

Well, I know it looks a bit abandoned(I did remove the figs after "The Sister Storm", it´s going to be 100-120 minifigs in the city in the movie), but I didn´t know it looked so bad! VBBN Posted September 15, 2008 Posted September 15, 2008 Maybe you can go under those planks and retrieve 100 pieces... Your city looks pretty good. You might want to name it Denniville or something... Quote

You might want to name it Denniville or something... Denniville sounds pretty good, maybe I´ll use that name. I´ve been thinking about the planks too, but it would cost more to go under the planks than it would cost to buy the pieces from Bricklink ...and maybe there´s spiders! (I don´t like any spiders...well I like the LEGO ones...) Quote
ptdapen Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 I like it a lot, and I wish I had all the resources, time, space, and all that jazz to have a great town like that. And silly you, don't you know little children should never be allowed to touch Lego? (bwhahahahahaha) Along with the name, I can't come up with many great ideas at the moment. I'll come back with some later. Quote
VBBN Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 And to add on o that, I don't have the roadpaltes... Quote
