SirNadroj Posted September 7, 2008 Posted September 7, 2008 Pepper's Ghost: an old optical illusion (the same one used by Dinsey in the Haunted Mansion attractions: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pepper%27s_ghost ) Set in a victorian "Game Room" (Game meaning taxidermy and pool), this MOC uses said illusion to manifest some minifig ghosts! (Any doubled ghost is a direct result of the glass' thickness; something I cannot control.) But I'm still happy with the end result. All the pics here: http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/71914 Thanks. BlueBard Posted September 7, 2008 Posted September 7, 2008 WOW I just can say I love the ghosts, they look so real! And great scenario too Quote
iamded Posted September 7, 2008 Posted September 7, 2008 Hahaha! This is very, very cool SirNadroj! The room itself is fantastic (those BrickArms Garands fit in perfectly), and the illusion is indeed fantastic! Everything's displayed wonderfully, great job! ~Peace Quote
JimBee Posted September 7, 2008 Posted September 7, 2008 Great work, Jordan! Your creativity with Lego never fails to amaze me. I really like all of those fake animals in the room, the elephant being my favorite. Nice use of the Garand. You sure like that little couch/ chair! The fireplace/ mirror are done very well, it's a shame Lego doesn't come in gold (besides the coins). The ghosts are awesome, it must have taken you a while to position them correctly with the sheet of glass. Quote
Fordo Jumping Posted September 7, 2008 Posted September 7, 2008 Cool! The photo you take was perfect, and I think the thing after you photo this was even more difficult to me. I wonder what software did you use to combine picture. Quote
Gen. Knowledge Posted September 7, 2008 Posted September 7, 2008 WOW! I am speechless. Your work is pure genius. You are a true Lego artist. Tony Quote
Teddy Posted September 7, 2008 Posted September 7, 2008 Dear SirNadroj, I really like this MOC you've made! Especially with the optical illusion. The room is also designed very nicely and with lots of attention to detail. Keep up this high quality work. Kind regards, Teddy Quote
Shoc Posted September 7, 2008 Posted September 7, 2008 I don't quite understand the concept, but wow, whatever you did with that glass to make the ghosts, it looks great! The actual room is also a great MOC! Good job. You are a true Lego artist. I agree, I have never seen Lego creations quite so artistic as you have made, SirNadroj! :skull: Quote
Manta Posted September 7, 2008 Posted September 7, 2008 Good lord, that's so amazing. I love the ghosts, and the room overall is amazing. Amazing. Did I say amazing already. That's amazing. Quote
hopeso009 Posted September 9, 2008 Posted September 9, 2008 Cool~~~ I love it~~~ look like real ghost~~~ very good and smart graphic effect excellent scene too Hope to see you going to make a ghost story with that Thanks for sharing. Quote
I Scream Clone Posted September 9, 2008 Posted September 9, 2008 Great idea, and great MOC! Really well orchestrated and built. Thanks for taking Lego into a new direction. Quote
KimT Posted September 9, 2008 Posted September 9, 2008 Amazing work Jordan. I don't think I've ever seen optical illusions as part of a MOC before. Just when I think you've done it all, you go a do something like this. I love it Quote
Norrington Posted September 13, 2008 Posted September 13, 2008 I can't believe I missed this. When I first saw he test photos on Flickr, I must say I thought you were attempting a reconstruction of the famous Haunted Mansion grand ballroom scene: Still, the scenery is impecible. When I saw you used a hunter in the portrait, I thought you were going to do something along this Marc Davis Haunted Mansion concept: You should really do more like this. Quote
Flatfoot Thompsen Posted September 13, 2008 Posted September 13, 2008 Wow! That is an awesome moc! Quote
Guss Posted September 13, 2008 Posted September 13, 2008 awesome moc, creative and really beautiful , I love it 12/10 ! Quote
The Rancor Posted September 13, 2008 Posted September 13, 2008 Awesome! (I still don't have the golden idol or crystal skull...) Quote
Scouty Posted September 14, 2008 Posted September 14, 2008 I think I'm in love with this effect. It's great! The creation and it's "inhabitants" are all spectacular and I think you have outdone yourself! Quote
Capt. Redblade Posted June 13, 2009 Posted June 13, 2009 Beautiful. Absolutely beautiful. I wonder what could have happened to make this place so haunted? Something unpleasant and gruesome, I'm hoping! *laughs evilly like Alan Rickman and Vincent Price put together* Quote
Tom Bricks Posted June 13, 2009 Posted June 13, 2009 This topics a little old but I have to say this is wonderful. Looks just like the Haunted Mansion. Nice job. Quote
Freddie Posted June 13, 2009 Posted June 13, 2009 (edited) Old or not, this is nothing short of brilliant! I'm still trying to get my mind wrapped around how the "Pepper's Ghost"-mechanic works (edit: and after reading it at Wikipedia, finally figured it out), and it used here is just... awesome. And litterally so. Thanks for bringing this thread back to life, Pirates Forever, or I would never have seen this. Edited June 13, 2009 by Freddie Quote
