Where'd the smiley's go?

Is LEGO Star Wars the only LEGO theme (normail or liscenced) that still uses the classic smiley? Its a shame because there is so much you can do with the classic smiley and I would hate to see it die out

They come in the Cafe Corner and Green Grocer and I believe you can get them through Pick a Brick on SaH. What indication did you get that they would be discontinued?

They are still avaliable. Sets such as Green Grocer have them and LEGO have stated that there is no plans to stop producing them.

it's hard to imagine that Lego would ever even think of ending that production. my guess is they'll keep on using it in creator sets or so...

The community workers set has 30-ish standard smileys, but other than that and the modular houses (exception being Market Street), that's the only sets featuring the classic smiley. The brick buckets and boxes usually use the newer smiley with eyebrows, which IMO is as flexible as the old one (just not as classy)

I personally have plenty of regular smileys.

Even if they were to be not produced anymore (which would be a shame) I would still have more than enough.

Guys, I think he means that there are a lack of smileys in recent sets. Take Castle, for example. Instead of using all smileys like they used to, TLG is providing a very diverse selection of heads with different looks, such as hair, eyebrows, beards, etc., etc.

Now, while I like the classic smile head, I have pleanty to go around, and you should to, if you collect Lego. They are still in production, but you might just not see as much of them within the new themes, like new Castle, new Pirates, and Indy. But as much as the smile faces are real classics, I absolutely love that Lego isn't going all cheap on us and just giving those. I love how they make new heads every year, and specific ones for each theme that can also be used in other themes for MOCs and such. So, if you are really worried that you will not be able to get the generic smile faces anymore, just check Bricklink or, like Hinckley said, Pick a Brick.

I for one don't miss the old smileys one bit. I have enough of them already, and in my opinion the modern figs would look really drab if they still had only that one face. I like diversity, and I like being able to personalize minifigs.

I was going to say something like that. The smileys are OK and almost a trademark of Lego, so I don't think they should go. I have a few, but never use them, as I like variety. I like to make minifigs different from each other, one thing that irritates me is when TLC repeats the same face too much... The Rascus face is a good example, although I like it a lot I have lots of it, and we'll get even more next year in Pirates. Hmmm...

I wish TLG would come out with even more new ones than they do now. That's why I always like when new themes come out.

There is nothing as frustrating as having an army of clone astronauts or knights...

I agree. And I think he's talking about the other types of heads like those in Pirates sets, people with lip stick, or the head that I feel to be classic: the original Sunglasses dude.

Yeah. I'm not keen on using the normal smileys but the smileys with other features I prefer, they're more unique, and the other faces have evolved from them.
