Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles -- SPOILER ALERT !

Friday is usually the day that TV shows go to if they are going to die. I am guessing that this will be be last season. The show is good, but not great. Plus, with the movie coming out and that being in the continuity, the show will no longer make sense.

I don't like it when continuities in franchises are messed up.

I really don't.

A new series or movie comes out and BOOM, we're told, "Ok, THIS is canon, THAT isn't... this is... this one might be..."

UGH.

And it's happened with Terminator, bigtime.

But even though Sarah was told Judgment Day was in 1997, and it wound up being in 2003, and NOW the series is going on in the current year of 2008... ...it's not all "impossible" yet that these things could still be woven together.

This show has time travel goin' on, with paradoxes breaking through. I imagine by the end of the series, and we KNOW everything IS going to go to hell at some point, that John could very well end up back where he was at the start of T3, just in time for T4.

My biggest issues are John says at the start of SCChronicles that the events of T2 started when he was 13.

But T2 happened when he was 10.

Oh well. It's still all a fun ride... It doesn't bug me anywhere NEAR as much as the alternate realities of Star Wars, Transformers and 9 million other LAME examples for continuity insanity.

(Speaking of time paradoxes... was I asleep when it was explained why Reese didn't remember being analyzed in the future?!? I like... didn't see where that was made clear.)

Iunderstand your fustration. But remeber what the governator said in T3. "You did not prevent Judgment day, you just posponed it. Judgment day is inevedable."

I it possible to link all the movies, as well as the new movies, and the series? I guess. But i'm banking that they weren't exactly supposed to be complettely linked. Kinda like the differnt versions of Transformers. Simular storylines, but different universe if that makes any sence.

Speaking of the new movie. Somthing has been bugging me. In the first trailer for the new Terminator: Salvation, John says

"This isn't the future my mother warned me about... In this futrue, ....I don't know if we can win this war."

For some reason, i don't think were going to see the "futuristic battle" that they show clips of in the first two movies. I dunno, maybe i'm just reading to much into it.

the future battle in T1 and T2 is set in 2027, terminator salvation starts is the beginning/early stages of the war, I think 2012 or 2018.

I echo the same comments about they can only postpone judgement day.

anyway the previous episode (for those in the uk) "Complications" was very good, its early stages so i don't know where Sarah's batshit insane period is going, but i liked Jesse and Dereks story ark. It's nice to see more of the future fleshed out, and I like Dereks characcter development - he's becoming one of my favorite characters.

The last episode of the fall season was well, frankly dissapointing. The whole

alien abduction and markings

story line is kind of weak. The whole idea that Riley

killed herself

also felt unnecessary. All in all I think that with the move to Friday, the show will die after this season.

I hope this isn't the end of the series. I haven't lost interest yet.

I dunno' man... the ship at the end. Here we have tons of such things being reported in the news (assuming you actively keep tabs on such news)... and here it is busting it's way into Terminator of all places.

Seems a bit forced.

But I'm open to it not being a trainwreck yet.

Didn't mind the Riley part. I can say I wasn't expecting her origins. Her actions were not out of character I'd say. It almost felt like they might go where they did with her while she was yelling at her foster folks about bleached skulls though lol.

I do find it unlikely that Cameron hasn't already done an in-depth investigation on Riley by this time, especially with the emotions of a rivalry.

I missed that episode simply because I forgot, but luckily you can see the new episodes online. This one looks good, definitely better than the last.

You can? :oh: Where? I need to catch up on the episode that was aired before the finale!

I don't like it when continuities in franchises are messed up. (...) And it's happened with Terminator, bigtime.

I don't think so. As you say, this show is all about time travel, which involves paradoxes and stuff. These are all different timelines, and the series has its own. The whole show is practically a what-if scenario to the timeline of the movies. "T4: Salvation" will be within the same timeline as the last two movies. Get it?

If you don't like that, you'll have to deal with it.

Oh well. It's still all a fun ride... It doesn't bug me anywhere NEAR as much as the alternate realities of Star Wars, Transformers and 9 million other LAME examples for continuity insanity.

HEY! Don't dis the 'wars, man! There were never any "alternate realities" in the Star Wars universe! At least not that I know of. And I know a lot about SW.

And Star Wars is definitely NOT LAME! :hmpf_bad:

Sorry, but I just am a geek.:blush:

(Speaking of time paradoxes... was I asleep when it was explained why Reese didn't remember being analyzed in the future?!? I like... didn't see where that was made clear.)

Not completely, I believe. Jesse comes from an alternate future where Reese was analyzed. The Reese that we know comes from a future where he wasn't, implying that he created Jesse's alternate future by going back in time. How he did that, however, was not explained. Very cool plot, though, IMO!

now there are

aliens

involved?! This is almost as bad as Indy 4. :hmpf_bad:

 Haha, yeah, almost. But I'm sure that it'll turn out to be a military prototype of the HK-Aerial or something.

And they've moved the show to Fridays... starting in February.

They did? :look: Crap. How am I supposed to watch Clone Wars and Terminator at the same time? :cry_sad: I hope I can at least record them both at the same time. :sceptic:

I do find it unlikely that Cameron hasn't already done an in-depth investigation on Riley by this time, especially with the emotions of a rivalry.

Yeah. She always looks at her as if she already knows... :look:

The series has returned to UK screens! and i declare this topic re-opened for discussion. :cry_happy: The episode was well played out with the mystery of the three dots expanding. And i had a big shock when cromartie returned. If his chip is destroyed then how does he return? And who is John Henry exactly? I think Babylon definitely killed Dr sherman though.

The dots were explained? I thought the point was that she read too much into them.

Having seen all episodes, the show did feel a bit campy at times, but I feel the episodes in the last half only get better and better. You have something to look forward to.

I am excited that the show is starting up again, but I have a feeling that this will be the last season. I was reading an article online and the writers have written the season finale as a possible series finale just in case. I just feel like the show is too "out there" at times. Also, the fact that the new movie is coming out this summer will mean that the tv series will be overshadowed by a much bigger and better film that is more accurate. Sometimes I feel like the show will never be able to explain how it can fit in with the movies and make sense. I think that the fact that they tried to fill in the gap while at the same time remaining true to the films has killed the show.

I am becoming more and more disappointed with the show. Last nights episode was a bad way to start of the spring episodes.

I agree. :sadnew: That episode was kinda lame, except for the last part where the red-haired terminator kills everyone. And I laughed so hard when I saw John Henry play with Bionicles and explain their story! Now I'm almost sure that there are AFOLs amongst the crew of this show!

I thought I explained that already. They are not trying to "fill the gap" or "remaining true to the films". They created a whole new timeline where they can do whatever they want. That's what is (supposed to) keep the story interesting because you don't know exactly where it will end. A good idea IMHO, but you might be right that the fact that they do this in disregard to the films is what hurts this show. :sceptic: People don't get it and get confused and stop watching the show. Sad, really. :sadnew:

Now that I think about, you are probably right. Unfortunately, the fact that it is NOT going to be true to the movies bothers me. "What-ifs" are great in Sci-Fi series for an episode arc or two as a totally different universe, but trying to incorporate that into a whole series doesn't do it for me. I feel that if they try to create too many different universes or ideas that they will hurt themselves. Being a big fan of the first two (the third kind of sucked), I don't like how they have diverged.

Well, timeline wise, the two good terminator movies has already happened, so there's not much discontinuity, and i prefer SCC that T3 so that's my personal canon.

Besides, its finally filling information about the future war (which personally is one of the most interesting parts of the terminator franchise)

Which is also what Salvation will be all about! :sweet: Can't wait!

I have to say, so far i don't care for what there doing with the series this season. Its like thier getting a little phyilisofical. This is terminator. I want to see cyborgs blow things up!

I kinda' like how weird everything's going.

I'm honestly not sure WHERE it's all going... and that's good.

If I had to guess, I'd say it's going to end with the UFO dealie being the real Skynet, Catherine Weaver teaming up or becoming one with it, while it's fought by a GOOD John Henry and Cameron.

Oh yeah, I imagine there'll be some sort of brainswapping going on... or maybe not lol.

In any case, we have 4 hi-tech creations all running around now.

Not disappointed at all with series. Can't wait to see how it ends.

And I'm a pretty hard person to get to faithfully watch a tv show.

I agree. A lot of shows are missing action. I want them to be fighting a Terminator every episode.

Well, they're still a TV show with a TV show budget pretty much.

If they have an expensive CGI ufo zipping around, dead cow props and a bunch of extra actors that are interacted with the entire episode, chances are they ain't got beans left for a fight scene.

So is this the end of the show, or does anyone know yet? Because I see on Wikipedia that we're nearly at the end of the known episodes.

This is going to have some climax and then it'll be time for the new movie and that'll be it, right?

Yop, pretty much. :sceptic: This is the final episodes, and at this point i think your right that there running low on there budget and are doing what they can with what they have. Its a shame too. Cause i thought the series was doing very well up intill the last few episodes. I don't care for all these "dreams" that Sara is having. Its boring. Thing is we don't have to have a bunch of 101's running around for it to be interesting. Cameron's fight scences with Chromarty were great. The series is starting to turn into an hour long Doctor Phil session.

Posted

has the "UFO" actually been confirmed as a UFO? It looks a bit like a HK, maybe a prototype?

It could also have been a dream or something due to the hypnotherapy, remember the recording was different the second time she listened to it.

Posted

Im sorry but UFOs just ruin terminator. me and my dad both agree the series is getting really limp. We haven't had a good action scene for ages and i seriously hate the fact that Sarah is having all of these wierd dreams.

The one with the bionicle's in it air last night and I liked the John henry stuff and the Weaver T1001 casually slaughtering everyone in the warehouse was bloody awesome.
