I've only been able to get into BZP for more than an hour maybe twice in the last six months. Otherwise it's either down, or taking a hella long time to load. I figured it was just the server dying like it always does.

So it's not just me then.

Tried to get to BZ about an hour ago. White.

Just tried again and got a white screen with this:

IPS Driver Error

There appears to be an error with the database.

You can try to refresh the page by clicking here

It beats having a white screen, a half-loaded page, a "board error" screen, etc in that it actually says where something's going wrong.

I've no idea what that means or if it helps any, but there it is.

The site messes up on me occasionally... but this site does that too. I just take it in stride.

Remember, the site has a ridiculous amount of strain on it. >_>

The thing is huge.

The Things that I Hate in BZP are rules. I Hate that No Other Forums!-rule. I'm member of Finnish Bionicle Forum and we need new fans to our site. We have Custom BioWiki, BionicleWiki and Forum in Finland.

The no-other forums rule is mainly to protect the younger viewers from sites like EB. With BZP being the biggest fan-site of a kid's toy line, they need to keep the content 8 year old safe. :classic:

I wish that EB was the worst of our fears too...God, Internet, why do you have so many horrible things to show everyone.

I fail to see how EB is harmful to children at all...

If You can't handle that its not the members fault who posted it.It said Don't look if you were under fourteen I think. :sceptic:

Besides Who aren't above that age they broke the rules anyways.

Sorry if I sounded mean.

....what are you talking about.

I'm sensing failure of epic proportions.

Clearly you missed the posts we had about the Cutesy anime girl spouting menstrual blood in the Bionicle discussion topic.

Well, it's "gross", but what personal "damage" are we talkin' here?

Whenever I found cartoony naked people dad got from work being faxed around from office to office, hiding it from mom (lol) in his sock drawer, I giggled. It was "silly" and different.

Then again, thanks to the internet, kids are worse freaking drama queen victims than EVER.

Of course, I don't like seeing pics of a mildly warped nature in full view. Don't want a dude (kid OR adult) clicking on a topic that should have text but having these images pop up for all those around them to see. THEN it could be harmful, as someone beats their megablocks.

That was harmful to -me-, to say the least.

How old are you? lol

I saw an interesting, chunky-lined, urbanized anime art style depicting humor of that time of the month. If a person can't handle that, then they can't handle the statue of David.

Don't get me wrong though, BZ is a (successful) experiment in "getting as many viewers as possible".

That's done through the attempt at offending NO ONE... and as I said, the world's filled with drama queens.

I mean hell, I've had the word "bimbo" modded out of a post there!

It's a business model. We don't fit. Since it's proven successful for them, they don't NEED to change anything.

And even with other, non-18 only sites... even if they're squeaky-clean, if BZ doesn't have some direct form of administrative control over it, then there's the potential for it to be a (truly) "unsafe" site.

One day a site they're linking to could be "Happy Rainbow Fluffy Kindergarten Juice Time Lego Fanclub.com".

The next day the site owner could have sold out and made Suspended and Gagged Furries in Unicorn Costumes.com.

XD I tried to click on that last link.

But yeah, BZP doesn't allow other sites to be linked to so that children aren't exposed to other things. Especially since BZP is supposed to be okay for everyone.

(I got my comics taken off when I was n00b there due to their heavy usage of the word "Crap". I mean, what the crap?! It's not even a cuss word.)

People really need to stop being so offendable. I wonder if they realize if it's more fun to offend those people, and their pretty much getting reverse psychology . . .

I'm really not sure how a vulgar piece of crappy art is supposed to be on par with the statue of David? One was made for intentional shock purposes, the other is a piece of (epic) artwork. The two aren't even close to being on the same 'decency' page.

Really, EB should be doing a better job keeping that crap off of a site with children, or do a better job of enforcing their age restriction rules.

And yeah, stuff like that is why BZP is never going to link to other forums. It's supposed to be a safe place for people to discuss BIONICLE. Not creepy under-age menstruation 'artwork'.

vulgar

Menstruation and blood is a fact of life, every month, for many. And come on... the blood was made of cute things.

crappy art

I like it.

made for intentional shock purposes

Or because it looks cool.

discuss BIONICLE. Not creepy under-age menstruation 'artwork'

Yes, those 4 or so posts of discussion made it IMPOSSIBLE to find Bionicle discussion. :hmpf:

Over 18 site.

Open to suggestions.

It's the internet. I could in fact only be 15. Those "pics" of me? Maybe it was my older bro'.

And you see how I post. Would it be that far-fetched to find I've always been younger than you?

Pretty much. You can tell when something has an intent or origin behind it.

Look at the Awesomeface.

On the other hand, nobody has much of a clue where the Caramelldansen animation comes from. (PROTIP: Hentai)

You can call it cutesy, that image had 4Chan written all over it.

4chan is about... well, oftentimes darker things. A good bit of hilarious, but the stomach-churning, humiliating stuff you're referencing too.

THIS however, hails from a T-shirt store.

Cute T-shirts. Not fat, nerdy guys lifting up their Guy Fawkes masks to lick their computer monitor.

The artist is a 31 year old chick in Japan who likes to draw "cute".

This is exactly why I sank Gunnar's link one click in, in the covert hopes anyone paying attention would see there's DOZENS of pics from this artist and realize the context of the pic. It's art. It's cute. It's a little gross, but humorous too. The character appears underage, but the artist draws "people" like that. Geez. Things are sometimes only as dark as one wants to make them.

You see something filthy and dark.

I see light-hearted feminine art.

EDIT: And in case no one notices, the "under-age" girl in the original pic is the artist HERSELF. The "blood" is made up of all the characters she created. :hmpf:

Oookay then...

*grabs the wheel and steers back on-topic*

Yeah, I was a member at BZPower. I went under the name of ~Antroz~.

The reason I left? I simply stopped liking Bionicle. The Mistika really jumped the shark IMO, and this year's sets don't really appeal to me either.

But it's not all bad.

I now have more money to buy videogames and such like and I'm buying less LEGO than I used to (that's not to say I've stopped liking it though  ).
