While uploading instructions and searching for new castle pics, I stumbled over this on Brickshelf.

A member there (Rebelego) uploaded these pics of what looks like an Oil Rig and the name Rambøll is also on the box.

Not sure if this is news or not, just thought I'd share this microscale (?) oil rig with you.

How very odd. Perhaps it's a bit like the Vestas Windmill and only available to Rambøll employees, but considerably less impressive than the windmill.

Yep. Perhaps it's a give-away for employees and business partners.

It is very small compared to the windmill, I'll agree to that

This set was handed out by Rambøll on a trade fair in Stavanger in late August. Those who understand Norwegian can read about their cooperation with TLG here and here (and here you can see a video). I could probably do a quick&dirty translation of the articles, but not right now. At the fair they also had a large LEGO model of the oil rig:

Not sure about how many sets they handed out, one member of Brikkelauget got hold of one.

The first picture seems weird to me. It looks like they just rushed the colors or that they might have included a sheet explaining how each part (specified by color) was important. It might just be me though.

I wish they would offer that as a set.

How do these agreements work? Will TLG design these customized, limited production sets for any company (or individual, for that matter) if they agree to buy a certain quantity of them?

They have done this with quite a few companies in the past. Shell and Maersk stand out as having more long term connections with them, but there were many others. Vestas and this Ramboll company are just the latest additions.

It's a gift set, that is given away at Rambøll's stand at oil-industry expositions. It was created by LEGO for Rambøll, to celebrate the two companies' cooperation with development of new software for concepting new oil-rigs. The software in question is a modified version of LDD, which retains most of LDD's graphical interface.

Andy16806 has been to a recent expo and visited their stand, and by surprise, he got hold of one for himself. Rebelego is another one of our members, and is the admin on our forums, and apparently he got hold of one, too.

KimT, thanks for sharing this discovery with us. I did not know that TLG is actively engaging doing up exclusive corporate LEGO sets for these companies, apart from a few well known such as Marasek and Vestas recently. It's neat to see something new and special. Although it look wierd on its first view, but looking at the orignal reference certainly resembles much.

Quarryman, thanks for solving the mystery for us. Never knew the origin of this set until you cleared it up.

Has anybody got more information about this? It looks a bit strange (fake?) to me, the box art is very unusual but it could be preliminary. If it's real, i would have rather liked to have a minifig sized rig, though :hmpf_bad:

I saw this earlier as well. I think it is fake.
Maybe check around a bit on the forum or a Google . REALLY well done information placement (video, pics etc) for "a fake" !
