JimboJones Posted September 21, 2008 Posted September 21, 2008 This cant be confirmed but i swear i saw a rumor somewhere that said nintendo has signed a contract with lego which allowed lego to make nintendo lego such as mario, star fox, zelda etc. and allows nintendo to publish new lego games like lego mario etc. I cant find the site i found it on but if its true this will be sweet! I would so get those legos and the games. What do you think. Quote
KimT Posted September 21, 2008 Posted September 21, 2008 To me this sounds like a hoax. Without proper intel to back you up, you've got nothing. Now I am not sure, but didn't you claim something like this in the Star Wars forum? In the future find the intel to back you up and then you post it. Quote
Siegfried Posted September 21, 2008 Posted September 21, 2008 ...furthermore this forum is for licensed lines...not potential lines. I don't believe it either and I don't see how it would work. Quote
Guss Posted September 22, 2008 Posted September 22, 2008 I don't know if this rumour is true but .. I need it to be true! I want some Nintendo set ! I want Zelda minifig and Epona ! Quote
Monkfish44 Posted September 22, 2008 Posted September 22, 2008 I don't personally believe this, but it would make a little bit of sense. TLG have a gap in the gamer market, if they do make these sets then they would bring a whole new audience to LEGO. Which IMO would be the only reason for them, I can't see any good sets based on games, because games are based on the characters and not the setting so there wouldn't be much to build :P Quote

Pencoin Posted September 22, 2008 Posted September 22, 2008 Hmm, don't really think this is true, would be very good thing to actually do though. I really hate it when people say videogames won't make good lisences. UCS Starwing. FF Airship. Bowsers castle. If I put more thought into it I'd be able to have a post long list. Check out the FF moc in the other themes section and say LEGO adn games dont go together. Quote
Algernon Posted September 22, 2008 Posted September 22, 2008 Some games would work better than others for this. Mario could have a castle set, but not much else. Metroid could have Samus's spaceship, but not much else. I think it'd be hard to do a gaming theme with most Nintendo games. Quote

Metroid could have Samus's spaceship, but not much else. I think it'd be hard to do a gaming theme with most Nintendo games. Wait, what? Mario could have hundreds of things - the Koopa Clown Car, Yoshi's house, a Brawl-style Luigi's mansion... And Metroid would be like a single-protagonist (save for the Prime 3 sets), sci-fi version of the Viking line - sure, you'd have her ship, but then you'd also have a Parasite Queen model (complete with rotating force field), a Mother Brain and Giant Metroid set (Super Metroid), a Dark Samus Duel set (MP3) (or [spoilerS]Aurora Unit 313[END SPOILERS]), a "meeting in the control room" with Commander, Samus, Rundas, Gandraya, Ghor, and a trans-blue Aurora (=D)... And don't forget a UCS Ridley. (Omega, Meta, whatever. =P) ~Trexxen Quote
Algernon Posted September 24, 2008 Posted September 24, 2008 The thing is, whenever LEGO tries to build things like creatures or characters, they wind up looking like utter shit. And 90% of what you suggested is just that. Sure, it's POSSIBLE to translate Metroid or Mario to the LEGO world, but I just don't think they'd do it well. Quote
darkrebellion Posted September 24, 2008 Posted September 24, 2008 (edited) Well I think a Zelda license would work very well . This game have lot and lot of things that could be done neatly (It would be like a castle line but with some licensed characters and monsters ), just imagine a Queen Gohma playset . The Rancor Posted September 24, 2008 Posted September 24, 2008 if its true this will be sweet! No... Just no! (Why not a Greek or Eqptian historical theme? Much better ) Quote
King Kahuka Posted September 24, 2008 Posted September 24, 2008 Yes!! Greek! Bloody hell, I would buy so many of those.. Quote
JimBee Posted September 24, 2008 Posted September 24, 2008 Back on topic, I think that pretty much any game from Nintendo (the classics, anyway) would work really well. I honestly have no idea how it would sell, but it would be fantastic. They could do either a sub-theme for Metriod, Mario, Zelda, Kirby, Pokemon (although I wouldn't buy this one), DK, and other game series, or they could do an all-star theme, with one or two sets from each series. Or even better, a SBB theme. Quote
Skipper 24 Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008 We could have a entire Mario level which would be cool although TLC would never do that plus it would be massive. Quote
Justin Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008 (edited) I think LEGO would never do it. They already licensed Pokemon to Mega Bloks a few years ago. Edited September 27, 2008 by Justin Quote
Skipper 24 Posted September 28, 2008 Posted September 28, 2008 I think LEGO would never do it. They already licensed Pokemon to Mega Bloks a few years ago. Megablocks made Pokemon . If LEGO made pokemon I expect the 'pokemon' would be a bit like the Bionicle minifigure or just 1 solid piece, I also think that this would fail. Quote
Manta Posted September 28, 2008 Posted September 28, 2008 ^No pokemon involved then!^ This would rock, like a brawl theme. Quote
Algernon Posted September 29, 2008 Posted September 29, 2008 Mega Bloks Pokemon?? It's like the line from hell! Quote
pr0visorak Posted September 29, 2008 Posted September 29, 2008 (edited) Well for one thing is that if you notice the way lego works. They mostly have lego deals with themes that are famous like ferrari, star wars, harry potter, batman and even thomas the tank engine. If you notice, they work with brands that have a reputation. Although zelda is a nice game ,it is not as famous as many other themes that have a bigger reputation.About pokemon,I dont think pokemon would be a ood lego product! This is because although it has a good reputation. The amount of time that will be used to design these little mosters would take months as the universe of pokemon is very big! By the way,Megablocks pokemon ideas are horrible. The pokemon themselves are small cuboids(rectangles). They look very bad . Edited September 29, 2008 by pr0visorak Quote
Ulrich Posted October 1, 2008 Posted October 1, 2008 LEGO F-Zero would be awesome. I'd buy it just for the Captain Falcon Minifig. Quote

Everyone knows Mario, they might not know anything else about him but they know Mario. Quote
optimus-convoy Posted October 2, 2008 Posted October 2, 2008 While I put next to no faith in this "rumor", I still salivate it the though of such a line. If this ever happened, I think the best option would be to do like one set of each theme at different price points. Either that, or Smash Bros. Well for one thing is that if you notice the way lego works. They mostly have lego deals with themes that are famous like ferrari, star wars, harry potter, batman and even thomas the tank engine. If you notice, they work with brands that have a reputation. I disagree with the reputation thing, I mean, with kids getting more interested in video games these days, and with the popularity of the Wii on top of that, it seems like it could be somewhat profitable. When it comes to Pokemon though, I agree it could be a bit too much, but if approached in the right way, and in moderation, like only making a select few pokemon, it could work. Quote
united brick Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 this is kinda true I herd on lego starwars 2 you can get mario and luigi but thats it sorry Quote
