I have questions I want to ask about them and I also want to give others the opportunity to ask questions that I might not think of, then hopefully get them answered! My first question is: How many components make up LEGO dragons? I know their upper jaw and wings clip on, but is that it? Yes, I could scour Peeron for all the various different combinations of dragons, but why bother when there's the likelihood of one you creatures already know? Quote

The Middleman Posted August 27, 2005 Posted August 27, 2005 I can create more out of the pieces from a Viking dragon than an old dragon. Larger dragons, smaller dragons, dragons in different colors, dragons with lots of heads, etc. The old dragons are compatible only with old dragons, and only exactly as the old dragons were made in the instructions, except for the arms, which use pins. And I wasn't talking about just the model itself... the pieces are much more versatile. Having a sinister dragon head that can be attached to more than just a crocodile and a dragon, wings that actually look good-sized, and good white teeth/horns makes a big difference for MOCs. Not to mention, they actually come in a variety of colors now rather than just green. Quote

Khorne Posted August 27, 2005 Posted August 27, 2005 Actually Phes, it would be pretty difficult to make those dragons, even if you had the instructions, first of, you a whole bunch of horns, gigantic wing pieces and the beak piece, all of these pieces are only available in Vikings sets. Of course there's Bricklink, but you would probably buy too much for the seperate pieces. Quote

We should also remind us that the first dragon wave introduced many generic parts used afterward (crocodiles, flames, winges). The new ones are more based on a fantasy design Quote

I think most people have had the common decency to take down instructions when asked by LEGO... and it wouldn't take them much time at all to fix things up themselves, if they felt like resolving things forcefully. First, they could contact the site hosting the instructions and inform them that you were violating the law, and force the site to take them down, assuming it was a commerical hosting site like Geocities or IX Web Hosting. If they actually wanted to locate you or telephone you, then they would simply get your ISP and IP address from us, and contact the ISP, and ask for your information. You're not using a proxy, so there shouldn't be a problem as far as that goes. Quote

But I have this great program that stores a 100's of public proxy servers and uses them at random each time it connects to a server. But that's not what I meant! I meant they'd have to be aware I was hosting them in the first place - otherwise they wouldn't knowto shut me down. And for that to happen the site would need be recieving a lot of traffic or a whistle blower or a mole! Right now some inconspicious site might already have them hosted and we're all none the wiser! I have an idea for a pirate ship with a dragon theme so I'm researching the best method to create the dragon components. It'll be years till I get round to doing it though. Quote

The Middleman Posted August 28, 2005 Posted August 28, 2005 Inventories are fine. Most AFOLs won't buy a set until they see the inventory, so it makes LEGO some money. Also, unless someone feels like doing some serious guess-and-check work, they can't build it with just the piece list. Quote
