Dennimator Posted September 25, 2008 Posted September 25, 2008 Hi! I want to paint all my fleshie minifigs yellow, and I´ve read that I can do it with a sharpie/sharpener. But... what IS a sharpie, what does it look like(pics, please), and where can I buy it(I live in Sweden)? Also, how much does it cost? Thank you! Dennimator Quote
Shoc Posted September 25, 2008 Posted September 25, 2008 (edited) what IS a sharpie A brand of marker pen, apparently permanent but no permanent pens stay on minfig heads without using a sealer, I would say. I haven't got around to finding sealer stuff yet. what does it look like(pics, please) and where can I buy it(I live in Sweden)? Also, how much does it cost? Sorry, I can't help you with this. We get Sharpies in England, but yellow ones (here) are hard to come by. I have one now. :skull: Edited September 25, 2008 by Shoc Quote

The Rancor Posted September 25, 2008 Posted September 25, 2008 A sealer keeps the colour of the pen on the substance it's marked on. Quote

KimT Posted September 25, 2008 Posted September 25, 2008 OK, thanks!! Sorry if I´m noobish, but can someone show a pic on that too? Paint sealer...I normally buy spray cans with the clear sealer. Here's it's called LAK..Maybe it's the same word in Sverige? Quote
VBBN Posted September 25, 2008 Posted September 25, 2008 Sharpies are a fine quality permanent marker. They cost a bit more than your average marker, but the results are woth it. However, yellow sharpies won't work on the fleshie heads. They will come out uneven and rub off over time. If you really want to make them yellow, I would strongly suggest using Testors Arcylic or Games Workshop paints. They are expensive, but I can't express how amazing they are. Hope this helps! Zorro Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008 Now to find out where to get one of these... Perhaps you could create a separte thread asking it in the title? Only few people read this one because few know much about it... I used to have Sharpies for my Old Glory figs, including a yellow and a gold-coloured (non-brand)one, to add little things that are difficult to paint like ranks and medals) but they were all dried out quite fast so I threw em away, if you buy em keep em closed and into another closed box in a cool space. I used to buy mine into a local photography store. Is this of someb help I dont know much of the different type of pens listed here, but is says he sells Sharpies. http://stores.benl.ebay.be/The-Bargain-Home-Shop Quote
VBBN Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008 (edited) Not a problem. If you are looking for sharpies, then I can only suggest EBay. Unless you have a Target store in sweden, as they always carry them. And on a general subject, I have about 50$ worth of them. 120 or so of them, various colors as well as metalic silver. Skipper 24 Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008 In my maths class room we have a load of those Sharpie pens in different colours. I personally use paints though because I already have a lot of them but I may try the pen as well. Quote
JimBee Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008 (edited) I don't think they're very hard to find... but maybe your country has little of these. They can be found in office supply stores, and sometimes department stores like Walmart or Target. Edited September 27, 2008 by JimButcher Quote

They can be found in office supply stores, and sometimes department stores like Walmart or Target. Or you could just order them online... I you have to drive very far or even start a search for them you are better of paying a few euros in shipping and handling... Thats just my opinion: I buy all kinds of stuff online! (a threadmill and computerstuff from The Netherlands, chipsets from China, weightbenches from France and The Netherlands, Old Glory miniatures from the UK and USA, petfood from Germany,.........) If you just search good enough and take advantage of foreign supersales/deals/discounts you will save a lot of money and driving hours (Id prefer the cheap and fun internethours above drivinghours anytime!) Good luck finding them ! Quote
VBBN Posted September 29, 2008 Posted September 29, 2008 A lot of times when ordering online you have to buy them seperatly. I useualy buy them in packs of 50, different colors. Besides, if you bought bulk off of Ebay, well, I wouldn't trust them. Quote
