Belloq Posted September 28, 2008 Posted September 28, 2008 (edited) Hi everyone! I was trying to replicate this cannon in a battle scene, and it looks like it was made by attatching a top hat piece to a barrel piece. The problem is, now I can't separate them! please, I miss my top hat piece. Edited September 29, 2008 by Hinckley Yes, the title of the topic annoyed me that much... Quote
UniqueBuilder Posted September 28, 2008 Posted September 28, 2008 Isn't there a pin hole in the bottom of the barrel where you can insert a pin to push the hat out? Quote
VBBN Posted September 28, 2008 Posted September 28, 2008 Exactly. Try a lightsaber hilt or technic axl. Don't use pliars or anything, and they will ruin the hat. Quote
Scouty Posted September 28, 2008 Posted September 28, 2008 It actually looks like a black barrel with a rubber band at the end. Good luck getting your hat out! Quote
Zorro Posted September 28, 2008 Posted September 28, 2008 How did you attach them?? You didnt... GLUE... them together... did you?? If so, try some lightly boiled water. NO, YOUR lego shouldnt melt... not at the temperatue i mean. Quote
Belloq Posted September 29, 2008 Author Posted September 29, 2008 I tried water, and the technic/lightsaber thingy was the first method I tried. It's just, the hat is logged in there, tight, so, can't get it out. Quote
VBBN Posted September 29, 2008 Posted September 29, 2008 Okay, now this may require 2 people. First, grab a pair of pliars or a wrench. Also, a long technic rod. Place the long technic rod in the bttom of the crate. Secure the pliars or wrench to the edge of the hat. Have one peroson pull down on the barrel, while you pull with the pliars. Be careful not to damage the hat. If that doesn't work, then your only solution is to hack of the bottom of the crate with a coping saw, and get to the hat. Quote
Darth_Legois Posted September 29, 2008 Posted September 29, 2008 Reminds me of the time I somehow got a standard lego helmet stuck in my lego bin.....I have no idea how it got there ... I needed a knife to get it out, it has some scratches on it..... Best of luck, hope you get it out... Quote
iamded Posted September 29, 2008 Posted September 29, 2008 Hm. I would stick a long technic axle into the bottom of the barrel, grab tightly to the barrel, and slam it into a table so the axle pushes up and pops out the top hat. Of course, that could also snap the axle... You could always butter it up. ~Peace Quote
Tenorikuma Posted September 29, 2008 Posted September 29, 2008 I would try inserting the barrel part into boiling water for a few seconds. The heat should cause it to expand slightly, during which time you might be able to push the hat out with an axle. Quote

Alice Posted September 29, 2008 Posted September 29, 2008 I think the best solution here is to buy another top hat. I mean give up already. Top hat's are 10 cents usd on Bricklink. It's not a rare part. Buy 10 top hats or 50, so that next time you decide to force your Lego together, you'll have backups. Quote
WhiteFang Posted September 29, 2008 Posted September 29, 2008 It reminds me of those unnatural way of building LEGO parts together. If you can't get it out, get a new piece. It's not an expensive part. Just an useful reminder, before you try to attempt to do something extraordinary, do prepare spare parts. You will never know when you need it. Quote

Please stop making this problem simple. - We're working hard to act like men here, showing our muscles and all. Buying a cheap replacement piece is not very manly, is it? Quote
Fluyt Posted September 29, 2008 Posted September 29, 2008 The technic axle suggestion seems like the best option to me, otherwise you could just buy new ones. And: Looks like it's made from (...) and something like this.(...) Don't think it really is a tophat piece, but a sort of rubber band. Quote
Captain Green Hair Posted September 29, 2008 Posted September 29, 2008 Put an axle through the bottom of the barrel and hit it gently with a hammer? You can always polish the hat if it is slightly scratched. It is a rubber band on the barrel indeed, maybe you need to see an eye doctor.. Quote
Guss Posted September 29, 2008 Posted September 29, 2008 I think.. you can try everything that have been said : put the barrel in hot water a few second, butter it , then push with a technic axle ! if that doesn't work, I have no Idea how to get it back :/ Quote
Erdbeereis Posted September 29, 2008 Posted September 29, 2008 Something like that happened to me once. I got a lightsaber blade piece stuck inside a 1x1 cone. Never did get it out.... Good luck getting it out! Quote
Hinckley Posted September 29, 2008 Posted September 29, 2008 I think this problem is being slightly fabricated. I re-enacted the "emergency" in my home and it was a very simple procedure. Quote

Yes, Hinckley may be right, after trying myself I must agree. If he cant its because his pieces are damaged or because he pushed the hat too deep and forced the barrel, or as you say... prateek Posted October 1, 2008 Posted October 1, 2008 get a metal stick that'll fit in the hole and bang it with a hammer Quote

How far in did you lodge it? /Users/lucas/Desktop/Photo 2.jpg That far in or less? Anyway, thanks for the suggestions, I think I'm gonna combine the whole hammer, plier and hot water thing. Quote

I hope everything turns out ok. Quote
