darkrebellion Posted September 29, 2008 Posted September 29, 2008 Hi, I am between the desicion of choosing the new Death Star (10188) or the UCS Millenium Falcon (10179) and then I got an idea for another topic and is this one: Do you want more amazingly detaied playsets? Personally, I really want the TLC continue giving us sets like the new Death Star playset which are expensive yeah but the size and detail justify the price (In some countries obiously ). I want a re-designed Jabba Palace in this way and one that really makes justice the the "palace" itself . Quote
VBBN Posted September 29, 2008 Posted September 29, 2008 That would be nice, but I couldn't afford them all, so I would feel bad not being able to get some of them... Quote

Siegfried Posted September 29, 2008 Posted September 29, 2008 As much as I would like a daddy for Rotta, I probably wouldn't buy a Jabba's palace playset. I liked the Death Star one as it covered a lot of pivotable scenes and filled a few holes in my minfig collection. (I needed a C3PO, a Obi-Wan, a Ep4 Leia... plus the new Vader and Emperor are beautiful!) Thus any playset would need to be of equal importance and have wanted figures. My best idea would be a Tatooine set; you could include the cantina, Hutts palace, the junk yard and Lukes house.... Quote
VBBN Posted September 29, 2008 Posted September 29, 2008 Or geonosis. It could have the 3 colems, the 3 creatures, Techno Union ships, and more! Quote

I think a Tatooine set would be awesome but it would be kinda hard for the TLC to put all that events in a site they have in common, the new Death Star has a lot of scenes from different films but all that scenes are featured in the same place the Death Star. hollisbrick Posted September 29, 2008 Posted September 29, 2008 If TLG do make more play sets I hope they sell them in bits of different sets like they did with Jabba's palace. Because it ends up to expensive to buy. Also you dont have to spend all your money at one time. Just my opinion. Quote

True, but the Death Star set is actually 2 different Death Stars so it isn't the same place, just a highly similar one. (Anyone ever wonder why the same person who styled the Cloud City carbonite chamber seemed to have also designed the Emperors chamber on Death Star II? ) If they made the Tatooine set a one level like the Cloud City set, but quartered like the Death Star, I think it would work. Junk Yard | Cantina __________________ Lukes | Jabbas ...but it was just a silly idea of one that I would consider buying. For example, I would have no interest in buying a Geonosis set. Perhaps a Coruscant set? Jedi council room, Palpatines chamber, Palpatines secret room (no smutty thoughts you!), Jedi launch bay, Padme's room, that pub where the guy is selling death sticks, Dexters cafe, the libary, Jedi training room.... actually that could work. SWMAN Posted September 29, 2008 Posted September 29, 2008 I think they would be great, but there would be dangers with Lego releasing them. They would have to be very expensive, which means unless they were released at Christmas when everyone is shopping, I think they wouldn't sell very well. They would probably only do one a year as well. Quote
TheTacoMan Posted September 29, 2008 Posted September 29, 2008 but i don't want to sell you death sticks, I want to go home and rethink my life ... Seriously though, they could easily do 'planet' sets. Imagine the tatoine or courasant sets almost exactly like the death star, a big sphere to symbolize the planet, and a whole bunch of quartered off rooms. They could even do a MASSIVE tatooine that features scenes from all 6 movies! Another set that i would seriously consider would be the Jedi Temple, it's not as prominent in the movies, but there are a lot of rooms they could add. Lastly, YES these amazingly detailed play sets are a godsend, i would rather save up and buy the single death star or melinium falcon than buy 5 or 6 'lesser' sets, hands down. Quote
Captain Green Hair Posted September 29, 2008 Posted September 29, 2008 What ever happened to making your own Tattooine planet, Jabba palace or whatever you like.... People tend to forget you can make anything with lego more and more these days it seems Get MOCcing dude's! Quote
Siegfried Posted September 29, 2008 Posted September 29, 2008 What ever happened to making your own Tattooine planet, Jabba palace or whatever you like.... Very true! However it wouldn't be very collectable then eh? Not something that I care about, but many others do. Quote

Bah, making you own? Do I LOOK like I'm creative? Seriously, you are of course absolutely right... But to be honest, I haven't got the time any more to make MOC's. I can remember buying lots of sets in the past, all with the purpose to make my own creations, but they are all still parted out and unused. The pre-designed sets have the advantage that it doesn't take so much time to design them and make them look good. And of course the official minifigs often look excellent. Quote
Zorro Posted September 29, 2008 Posted September 29, 2008 Id LOVE a jabbathehutt palace, and if i were you Id choose a Millenium falcon. And of course the official minifigs often look excellent. The official minifigs do often look great, but so do the "unofficial" custom made ones Quote
Manta Posted September 29, 2008 Posted September 29, 2008 We can hope so. I probably couldn't buy many of them, but people would be bound to buy them, and then we'd see reviews, so I'd like them even if I don't have them. Anyway I think more play sets would be cool although I wouldn't be able to get a many of them. I also think battle scenes would be good which came with a decent number of clones droids and maybe some vehicles these could turn out detailed however it is unlikely for TLC to make them like that. Siegfried Posted September 30, 2008 Posted September 30, 2008 What episode 3 Leia? Err.... a baby? Thanks for spotting my typo! Quote
