Ahem!

Perhaps you guys ought to accept that LEGO isn't a toy?

It's meant for collectors and is to be handled with care.

If it breaks, well then you've been acting childish towards it.

:grin::laugh::wink:

Sorry, but I must disagree with this.

What's the point of having a technic set with steering if you don't use it?

Why are they called Building toys?

Why do you think minifigures have everything they do? The moving parts?

Why doesn't lego just make them stiff and in one place, not with awesome playability and functions?

Simply an opinion. :sweet:

The leg clip on one of my metal blue SBDs from 7163 spontaneously broke quite recently. I have two of 'em and both have been displayed since the day I got them. I was a bit gutted but have put in an order for a replacement.. hope I get it!

I don´t think so. The set is older than 5 years and with the fact that the parts were often replaced there is probably nothing for you.

Answer to all four questions: Because a mountain would eat your (secret twin) brother.

I thought he was joking. But I'm probably wrong. :classic:

Oh, yeah, I forgot. Silly me, thinking a child's building set isn't a TOY. My parents always used to say when they left the house, "don't play with the knives, garbage disposal, expensive decorative vases from the 1500's and above all, those expensive LEGO sets. You might break them, that or kill yourself."

I didn`t break any of them just like that, however the leg-connecting-clips of one broke when someone (not me!) stepped on it. That was fixed with very thin wire wrapped around the connection.

Apart from that none of my new SBDs have broken, the old ones however have broken arms and legs.

Out of about 8 super battle droids I have I think almost all of them have broken legs or arms, same goes for my regular battle droids. I don't even play with them that much, it might just be that I store them a bit roughly, but still they should be able to take a bit of abuse especially since there a children’s toy :sceptic:

Yesterday I decided to take out one of my 7654: Droids Battle Pack from storage..

two of the SDB's legs had fallen off. All 3 SBD had clips that had cracked.

Before I put it in storeage , (pretty much right after i got it) I dissasmbled the set and put it in the box.

But i didnt dissasemble the minifigs.

I never played with the figs , just put em toghter and stored them dark, dry and at roomtemperature.

The BD, were ok..

The set is from early 2007.. Seems like Lego had some tolerance ,material issues back then.

Time for replacements.. :cry_sad: I wonder if the plastic get brittle over time or due to stress.

If its time related I cry over my still unopended Droids Battle Pack.

The problem is that they are not made to be taken on and off, which I did a little too often. Maybe the newly designed arms will be better.

That's a very odd post.

Feel free to edit it and then we might be able to understand.

Plus there's no need to flame bricklink around here.

Many members are well-esteemed sellers and buyers there and they'll surely disagree with you.

So skip that rant next time please.

On topic again...

I have only broken on super battle droid arm.

It was because of a brilliant ide I had...

...to remove the legs, put both arms on a lightsaber blade, put the center of the blade on the leg clip, and attach the body at an angle to make it look like the sbd is being cut in half.

The left arm broke when I tried to pull the droid apart.

I have just broken the hands of a pair of SBD in my whole collecting history  . Unfortunately, they were both SBD of the old RGS whick broken :cry_sad: and now they go for very high prices on eBay and Bricklink.

That's odd. I have my SBDs from the BP since a few months now. I have them set up in a diorama and have even played around with some of them a little, but they are still perfectly fine. They don't even have stress marks. I really hope they stay this way... :cry_sad:

I am with you Oky. I just set mine up and they hve no stress marks either. Although 1 or 2 of GG's/Battle Droid arms have broken at the hand clip.

You can replacements here they are usually free if you have proof of purchase. I have never encountered that problem but some of my Battle droid hands have snapped for no reason soon after getting the set.

Can you olso get parts from old lego sets?

Posted

None of my SBD pieces have broken yet, I barely disassemble them though, My normal battle droids arms are a bit loose though but i've had them since 1999, so bound to have a bit of wear and tear.

This has happened to me before with my regular bd's, I just went on lego.com and requested replacement parts. I really wish lego could improve the quality of the plastic they use though. :sceptic:

My poor little SBD died a few weeks ago. His legs broke. I was too lazy to dig up the instructions and get a replacement... so I just glued it back on. It's not like SBD's bend over anyway! Plus, I have seven more (soon to be 11 (AAT FTW!)

Another Battle Droid of mine broke his arm... but that was an old one from 2000!

My replacements arrived yesterday for my broken SBD's :classic: Happy as I was I decided to stow away the set, this time I dissasembled the BD,s and SBD's but then one of the BD's leg cracked at the ,clip

and another of the BD's head was hanging loose (small crack but not yet broken).. I have "the army of the damned" at home..
