FedericoTorres Posted October 2, 2008 Posted October 2, 2008 Hi All This is my first time in the forum, so I apologize if the topic has been discussed before I was thinking about what is the best Lego Set for me, They are so much that it is too difficult to choice only one, so I want to know for everybody which is the best set of each of the following categories: Space Star Wars Town or City Pirates Let me know your opinion and if you include pictures better, I will post my sets in a few minutes. Zorro Posted October 2, 2008 Posted October 2, 2008 Just my favorites: STAR WARS: imperial dropship PIRATES : the skulls eye schooner or the BSB (the barracuda) / Sea mates (the addition with men only) Quote
FedericoTorres Posted October 2, 2008 Author Posted October 2, 2008 The best for me are: Space 6980 Galaxi Commander Star Wars 4504 Millenium Falcon Town 6392 Airport Pirates 10040 Black see Barracuda http://www.1000steine.com/brickset/images/6285-1.jpg Quote
Fluyt Posted October 2, 2008 Posted October 2, 2008 (edited) My favourites change all the time, but at the moment I guess it's: Space: 497 Galaxy Explorer StarWars: 4483 AT-AT Town: 6543 Sail N' Fly Marina (maybe even one of the best sets ever) But there are more candidates for the title, like 6396 international jetport or 6399 airport shuttle Pirates: 6285 Black Seas Barracuda With 6286 Skull's Eye Schooner as a fairly close second Unfortunately the only one of these I own is BSB (and SES) Edited October 2, 2008 by Fluyt Quote
fenrir Posted October 3, 2008 Posted October 3, 2008 The best set ever, Vikings are nice to look at, and the new dwarf mine is realy cool. But nothing compares to the Guarded Inn (6067). Best LEGO set Quote
Guss Posted October 3, 2008 Posted October 3, 2008 (edited) the best lego set ? space : 6991 , the monorail, I loved it! star wars : the UCS millenium falcon ^^ I want it! town : I don't know, I played a lot with the 4025: Fire Boat when I was young pirates: the best non-technic set of all time for me : the Black Seas Barracuda! there is already a picture of it in the Fluyt post^^ so I'll use the same : technic : the 8880 supercar ^^ Edited October 3, 2008 by Guss Quote
CP5670 Posted October 3, 2008 Posted October 3, 2008 These are my choices: Space: SP Striker Town: Airport Shuttle (don't have one myself, unfortunately ) Technic: Airtech Claw Rig I can't really comment on pirates or SW, as I don't collect those themes actively and only have a couple of the sets. Is there any way to make the forum scale down these images? Quote
FedericoTorres Posted October 3, 2008 Author Posted October 3, 2008 I also like the monorail sets, it is a shame that Lego do not produce monorails any more, For me the Futuron monorail is the best one, unfortunally I dont own one but I hope to be able to get one in e-bay this year, the problem is that they are so expensive. FedericoTorres Posted October 3, 2008 Author Posted October 3, 2008 Thank you Klaus-Dieter I wanted to know the answer to that question a long time ago. At the moment we have different winners in the space, Star Wars and Town categories, but we have a clear winner in the pirates category, the Black See Barracuda, I am glad I own one. Let’s wait and see what the favorites are for more people. Quote
The Rancor Posted October 3, 2008 Posted October 3, 2008 Castle 6090 Royal Knight's Castle (Rancor owns) Western: 6765 Gold City Junction (I own) Thanks. Klaus-Dieter Seconded. Best sets EVER!!! (In those themes of course) Quote
Jones Posted October 4, 2008 Posted October 4, 2008 I'm a classic town collector, so here are my town picks: Best overall set: I fell in love with it when I first saw it in a catalog as a teen, and then years later when I finally got it from ebay for a song last year, it was even more breathtaking in person. It remains the centerpiece of my town and I believe it is more visually spectacular than even my Cafe Corner. Best vehicle: Simple, and perfect. Love the minifig leaning out the window in that pic! And for nostalgia's sake, the Best House Ever: I got this set for Christmas when I was very little and I got hours and months and years of play out of it. I still have it and the awning stickers still stick! It also remains the centerpiece of my suburbs and I refuse to build houses that dwarf it. I even Town House-ized the Beach House! And the two minfigs from this site remain my all-time favorites. Look at that chick bursting through the door to bust on her lazy-a$$ man. Oh,, these older sets had so much charm ... Quote
hollisbrick Posted October 4, 2008 Posted October 4, 2008 Sports: 3314 Stadium Security Klaus-Dieter lol this set looks awsome I want one, how come I've never seen it before? Quote
darkrebellion Posted October 4, 2008 Posted October 4, 2008 Well I am a Star Wars only collector so here is my list (Even if I don´t own some of them): Best of ... Star Wars... 7662 Trade Federation MTT Own For some reason I just totally this set. It has a extremely cool build, awesome detail, perfect shape, the minifigs are really cool especially the commander and well they come in tons (21 to be exact ). Also the price is pretty good not like this year Republic Attack Gunship 7676 . City... 10185 Green Grocer Not Own Well what I can said it is simply a beautiful set . Castle... 7036 Dwarves´ Mine Not Own It is another cool set with great detail . Indiana Jones... 7626 Jungle Cutter Not Own This is a perfect combination between good foliage assortment and a really cool looking vehicle . Let’s wait and see what the favorites are for more people. You're welcome! And of course I'm very interested about which sets will make it to the winners, too. By the way: I think that most Lego (Pirates) fans like the Black Seas Barracuda of all Pirates sets until now the most. This was surely even TLG's reason to design the new awesome pirate ship for next year in a very similar style to it. lol this set looks awsome I want one, how come I've never seen it before? I'd very much like to own this set, too, hollisbrick! Probably you have never seen it before since it was - like many other soccer sets - a Shell promo set. Klaus-Dieter Quote

Probably you have never seen it before since it was - like many other soccer sets - a Shell promo set. Klaus-Dieter Damn, looks like a cool and a pretty funny set Anyway, don't really hae time to say all y favourite sets atm so I'll just a a few.. For Pirates it is the Enchanted Island which I proudly own I'll say the rest later, I need to think about it too Quote
kaka1987 Posted October 10, 2008 Posted October 10, 2008 i only play lego for 2 year, so i only know about the details of new set. i have to admit those classics are great because there is no need to worry about the stickers! 10185<----really detailed and good for MOCs. i think u can play that for months. no money for this, poor.. 7676<---that ship is the best ever with amazing details. i am in love with that and play with it for a month. i almost play with it everyday!!! 7743<--- good price and value....only 44 us, wt you expected? compare to some sw "displays", that one is fantastic. 7733<----very detail and can play for a long time, (of coz....stickers are really annoying), i only love those have a lot of detail to play with...because i find that some sets looks good when i buy it. but after i finished it, it turned into a display set... 5150 Lego Posted October 12, 2008 Posted October 12, 2008 Good topic! For me its these.. Space... Town... Technic... Model Team.... One of my favorites as a kid... Ferrari... And IMO, the best set TLC has ever released... I'm not a Star Wars or Pirates collector so to be honest, i don't have a Favorite from those themes. Quote
AgentRick Posted October 12, 2008 Posted October 12, 2008 Oh man, theres too many to decide from! I have to think about this one. Quote
Shine Posted October 12, 2008 Posted October 12, 2008 Space: Mega Core Magnetizer Star Wars: TIE Interceptor Town or City: Cafe Corner Pirates: Pirates Ambush Quote
ExoBuilder Posted October 12, 2008 Posted October 12, 2008 5150 Lego: I agree with you on the Ferrari Truck, it is a great set! Quote
Kliq Posted October 12, 2008 Posted October 12, 2008 Oh man, picking favorites is so hard. Pirates: 6286 Skull's Eye Schooner It is such a sweet set. Four cannons with the coolest mechanism for rotating them and switching sides I have ever seen. An easy to access cabin and a full crew make this a great set to display. Star Wars: 7665 Republic Cruiser I could have never imaged Lego would make one. It is by far my favorite Star Wars set to date because not only is it nice to look at, but all of the fun features it has. Cockpit, rotating satellite dishes, escape pod and full interior are just some of the cool inclusions. Plus, I just love the design. Castle: 6085 Black Monarch's Castle This may not have been in the list of themes, but I'm not a big City or Space fan, so I thought I could compensate with Castle. This set is one of the staples in Lego Castle history. A brick built portcullis!? What in the world is that? Plus, I believe, the single largest number of soldiers in any Castle set so far (12). Honorable Mention: 6277 Imperial Trading Post Certainly one of my favorite sets of all time. Soldiers, pirates, and what are these? Civilians? This sweet set comes with a merchant ship! Multiple little buildings create the atmosphere of a bustling harbor. I can't wait till the '09 Pirates come out so I can see how well the new "base" looks next to it. Quote
slimninj4 Posted October 12, 2008 Posted October 12, 2008 Hands down. oh yes I forgot this one. I got it on sale. So fun to put together. This is also one of the better Creator sets. I wish they would of moved more in this direction. Also I wish they would bring back model team. Back in the day I loved those. Quote
