August 10, 200816 yr Hello, They won't let me ask this in the BST forum, so I will ask here. I'm sure they will shut me down if this is not appropriate, let's just hope they don't ban me from the site. I am in need of more white pith helmets for my Imperial Empire. I've scavaged Brinklink and eBay, and can't find any large (30+) lots. Actually I bought all the large lots and now there are no more. Are there any other sites out there that sell minifig parts? Where do most of the army builders on this forum buy their parts? Tony

Well, for starters, you have to be a citizen to post in the BST forum, Secondly, you could ask a minifig customization site to make some... I don't know of any other online brick selling stores... Hope that helps,
August 10, 200816 yr No offense, but shouldn't this be in Adventurers or something? Pith helmets aren't pirate-related.
August 10, 200816 yr No idea on where to get that many at one time. I'd actually post a request on Bricklink. If they ever made it to the Pick-a-Brick wall, someone could easily have that many and just not think to list them. I've never noticed a large demand, though I am fond of them and white epaulettes myself. Beyond that, all you can really do is just keep buying the small quantities as they appear, or look for cheap figures that include one (some of the adventurers are surprisingly cheap). I'd be lucky to scrape up 5 spares, and that's probably typical for non-dealers. Please post some pics of your progress. We're always interested in such things, and it sounds great. No offense, but shouldn't this be in Adventurers or something? Pith helmets aren't pirate-related. Despite the pith helmet, it isn't really an adventurers request. Traditionally, this is where most of the historical army builders go, unless it's specific to Wild West, which goes in history and adventure, so he's actually right in this case.
August 10, 200816 yr No offense, but shouldn't this be in Adventurers or something? Pith helmets aren't pirate-related. No offense taken Wes. I spend almost 100% of my time on Eurobricks here in the Pirate forum, so it was just easier for me to ask all y'all if there was any other websites that sell Lego parts. I really wanted to ask in the Buy, Sell, Trade forum, but I am not a citizen yet. I'm currently looking for white pith helmets, but I am in need of a lot of parts to complete my army so I can begin my Navy. Tony

Hello ImperialShadows, I tried posting in the Bricklink forum under wanted, but didn't get any replies. The piths are not expensive at all currently ($.13-.30) on Bricklink, but if you add in shipping for 5 white piths (sometimes $5) it starts to add up fast. if I buy ten small lots, I could be throwing away $50 in shipping and handling fees. I also tried buying the cheap Dr. Charles Lightning or any Adventure minifig wearing a pith for that matter if they have them in the same store at the loose piths. I guess that is what I will just have to continue doing. Oh well, this is the high cost of the hobby and for coming out of my dark ages so late. I will be posting new pics soon of my army. My goals have changed, causing me more problems. My original post stated I wanted a 600+ force, now it is more like 1,000+. I got a great find on a lot of brown piths I will be using for my artillery companies, but I still need lots and lots of white piths. I am also thinking about using the white police hats or white construction hats for my Logistics Company to help with the pith shortage. Tony
August 10, 200816 yr There are still a few stores on BL that have 5 or more, i'd just start buying them out if i were you.
August 10, 200816 yr They won't let me ask this in the BST forum, so I will ask here. That's because you haven't had 100 posts yet. I'm sure they will shut me down if this is not appropriate, let's just hope they don't ban me from the site. It's a good thing i can't find the "Close Thread" button right now. Since you're looking for website locations of Pith Helmets, it'll stay open. Sorry mate, only 2 sites i use are BL and Ebay, but i almost always use BL. It looks like looking for the mini-figs that where pith helmets on BL that also sell Pith Helmets separately is the best bet.
August 12, 200816 yr Ask around your local second hand/ collectors toy specialists and ask if they know any local Lego heads, Often they all communicate and know who likes what, these guys often have huge amount of Lego sitting around doing nothing and are happy to find someone to sell to! Often they will know the market rate and sell it to you at that price WITH NO POSTAGE! thats the best bet out side of Ebay and Bricklink, thats how I am getting my Soldiers and Adelaide is much smaller than California's big cities! Next is to get my Sister to do it in Sydney and a Friend in Alice Springs!

Humm...so how do I find them? Tony
August 12, 200816 yr Thanks Cpt. PegLeg, I never thought of that. I guess it's time to go network with the other AFOL in my area. Humm...so how do I find them? Try contacting ppl from California in BL would be my guess. I have no idea how effective that would be; it's just a thought. Or see if there's a Lego Convention in CA and attend it.
August 13, 200816 yr The way I did it was to go to a Toy Swap Convention, I asked around about Lego, I heard a name pop up a few times and went to go see him, He had Lego, but did not sell on-line all that often, we started to deal. Another time I went to the markets, looking for people that would buy second hand Lego off all those Mums looking for a quick dollar, I came across a guy who sells a lot of "vintage toys" and other toys he had a small amount of Lego but also knew this guy I had found and often dealt the Lego to him. Finally I came across an actual Lego stall in a Market, he has connections to somewhere but does not reveal them... He had a Brick link store and said I could buy them on-line then come round and pick up the order, NO POSTAGE... Another great way is to pull out the phone book and call second hand toy stores and ask if they have any Lego in stock or if they know of any where Lego is likely to be. Mention you are looking for something specific, you never know your luck! Some AFOL's do not even know they are one, they can have a huge collection and never surface on-line or sell on bricklink or join a club, but these collectors need to buy from somewhere, so I start my search with the sellers! Hope that all helps and makes sense. BTW I do marketing so I generally think out side the box when it comes to getting the product I want... Regards, Cpt. PB Edited August 13, 200816 yr by Cpt.
