simonjedi Posted December 6, 2008 Posted December 6, 2008 (edited) The Clone Wars- Episode 109: Cloak of Darkness AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME. My favourite episode so far, it has ventress :D a A separatist victory some very shocking deaths, which shows this isn't actually a kids show. several lightsaber duels, Ahsoka having a bit of Anakin's personality. Gree, Luminara, spike from buffy and written by Paul Dini. To top it all off Lair of grevious next week. Edited December 6, 2008 by simonjedi Quote

My favourite episode so far, it has ventress :D a A separatist victory some very shocking deaths several lightsaber duels, Ahsoka having a bit of Anakin's personality. Gree, Luminara, spike from buffy and written by Paul Dini. I saw it too! I quite liked it, but it's not my favorite. Rather shocking twists, I agree, and the amount of dueling was great! To top it all off Lair of grevious next week. Yeah! WOOHOO! I so can't wait to see that one! I can also not wait to make a MOC of Grievous' Lair after I've seen the episode! Quote
Joey Lock Posted December 6, 2008 Posted December 6, 2008 Ive been meaning to ask someone this Did ask but was completely Ignored. I have been watching these on Surf the Channel because I have the Virgin Media XL Package on both my TVs and I cannot find Star Wars: The Clone Wars on Fridays at 9! I see at the bottom it says CNHD so is it only in America? Since the only HD channel we have is BBC HD... Quote
JimBee Posted December 7, 2008 Posted December 7, 2008 Cloak of Darkness looks good. I'll have to wait until next Friday to see it on the official site, but it's worth it. Hopefully TLG will include a *non-LUL* in a future set. Too bad it will probably have an animated face... @Jinzo: Congrats on seeing the movie. Finally. Quote
Corvus Posted December 9, 2008 Posted December 9, 2008 Cloak of Darkness was good! I'm dissapointed that Gree lost out against some traitor and a nemoidian, but hey... The CW seems to be fluctuating around. 'Ambush' was good, 'Rookies' was amazing, 'Cloak' was good, but the others were OK (IMHO) and Jar Jar's episode was horrible. Grievous' Lair seems to be right up there on the amazing scale from what I've seen, so I can't wait. Quote
JINZONINGEN73 Posted December 9, 2008 Posted December 9, 2008 Was anyone else seeing Princess Fiona (ogre) every time Luminara Unduli came on screen? The face, the body type... the kickassery skills... Quote

Tim Bit Posted December 9, 2008 Posted December 9, 2008 For anyone in Canada you must be crying like me right now. They stoped playing the clone wars on CTV so we have to wait till January to see cloak of darkness and other forth coming episodes. Quote
Darth_Legois Posted December 9, 2008 Posted December 9, 2008 We will never know... What! Their liscence is ending soon! Why? But they will renew it anyway, after all star wars is where most of their money comes from I think it ends in 2010 or something like that. Not sure if they will renew it...Lucas might say no...they've done it for 10 years and almost all the sets posible have been made it'd just be re-releases Channel 10 here in Aus sucks for the CW they had golf on once instead of the cartoon! darkrebellion Posted December 9, 2008 Posted December 9, 2008 Yesterday, I saw "Duel of the Droid" and it was just AWESOME!!!! When I start to saw it I don´t have my hopes very up but how I am wrong . First of all I need to congrats the writers for the good script and how they manage to put the action in an awesome way. The first part was great with the landing at the CIS station and how they manage to get inside. Then, one scene that surprise me A LOT and it was the scene where Grevious killed the trandoshan trader , this is the first truly "death" I have seen in the show (With this I mean the first explicit one not like a dead clone killed by a blaster ). After that the duel of Grevious and Ahsoka was a lot better than I expected. It was actually a "true" duel and is my favorite so one of the series including the movie. The hangar battle was really star-warsy and the action was awesome. And finally to end the duel of the two astromech droid units, pretty creative and inovative. In conclusion the whole episode was TOTALLY AWESOME in every way and my truly favorite episode to the moment . Quote
Oky Posted December 10, 2008 Posted December 10, 2008 Yesterday, I saw "Duel of the Droid" and it was just AWESOME!!!!SNIP As I already said here, I, too, enjoyed that episode a lot! Probably my fav episode so far too, but that will change once "GG's Lair" comes around! Btw, I think the Lego SW license ends in 2011 , but don't take my word for it. Rather take this discussion to the SW Rumor thread. Quote
pr0visorak Posted December 10, 2008 Posted December 10, 2008 I hope it doesn't go away! I will be so sad Anyway, I cant wait for GG lair too! It is going to be exciting Quote
Oky Posted December 10, 2008 Posted December 10, 2008 (edited) I cant wait for GG lair too! It is going to be exciting Of course it will! Just think about it: The protagonist of this episode is Kit Fisto! He has a Mon Calamari padawan! We finally get to see the place where GG always retreats to. There is a chance that we will find out a little about GGs past! GG is going to bust out all four of his lightsabers for the first time in the show! Which means we will also find out how it's possible to engage in a lightsaber duel with only two fingers holding each lightsaber. (I'm referring to the fact that GG only has four fingers on each hand in this show.) Either way, this episode can only be good! Can't wait! GG FTW! :pir-skull: Edited December 10, 2008 by Oky Wan Kenobi Quote

I'm guessing death by lightsaber is going to only become more and more popular on the show as it goes on. Tim Bit Posted Yesterday, 04:06 PM For anyone in Canada you must be crying like me right now. And in my case, the only way. : D Quote

GG FTW! :pir-skull: I've enjoyed all the episodes(excluding the filler; ya'll know which one I mean) so far and this one looks nice! Regarding your point about Greivous' fingers, I have an answer. Greivous is by no means limited by human articulation; we don't know that much about his body but what we have seen so far. I'm assuming that his four fingers are each very long and can thus curl around the hilt and keep it in a death clench. Quote

Greivous is by no means limited by human articulation; we don't know that much about his body but what we have seen so far. I know. I'm just mocking the inaccuracy of this stylized grievous. It's one thing to give a character an ugly looking face, but to rob it of four significant fingers is something different. I'm assuming that his four fingers are each very long and can thus curl around the hilt and keep it in a death clench. Either that, or he uses one of the fingers as an opposing thumb and presses the lightsaber against it with his other finger. It almost looks like that on the CW-style GG action figure. But that's just an action figure of course. So I guess he does that clenching thing you said. GG FTW! PS: Sorry for linking to such a silly review, but it was the only place I could find where you get a good close-up of the fingers. Quote

The only bad thing is that we know the padawan is going to die , or I understand that . It looks very promising and this show just gets better and better each time . Quote
Oky Posted December 11, 2008 Posted December 11, 2008 Yeah I totally agree with you Oky Wan Kenobi . When I saw the preview in SW.com I said "It is going to be awesome, it must be...!" cause well, everything looks amazing in it. The only bad thing is that we know the padawan is going to die , or I understand that. Yes, I thought of that too! Kit Fisto's comment about the darkside being strong in GG's lair in the preview foreshadows this pretty clearly and the wookieepedia biography of Nahdar Vebb (that's the Padawan's name) indicates that Grievous will defeat him, rendering Fisto as the only survivor of the mission . It's gonna be awesome to finally see a three-dimensional Grievous defeating a Jedi in a lightsaber fight! That has been overdue ever since Episode III came out. Vebb is gonna get pwned! GG FTW! this show just gets better and better each time . Agreed! On a side note: Is anyone else annoyed by the fact that the Clone Wars webcomic is always a week behind lately? The episode that a comic is supposed to precede always airs before the comic is being uploaded. Quote
simonjedi Posted December 11, 2008 Posted December 11, 2008 It's gonna be awesome to finally see a three-dimensional Grievous defeating a Jedi in a lightsaber fight! Yep, Its going to be grevious closer to chapter 20 of the clone wars, than episode 3, although he was quite awesome in duel of the droids Is anyone else annoyed by the fact that the Clone Wars webcomic is always a week behind lately? The episode that a comic is supposed to precede always airs before the comic is being uploaded. Are you sure? I've read the prequel comics for the last 2 episodes and this one, that's normally uploaded on thursdays which is before the episode airs. The newest comic "dreams of grevious" is on now and thats before this weeks episode. The comic is actually very good, very poetic. Quote

The newest comic "dreams of grevious" is on now and thats before this weeks episode. The comic is actually very good, very poetic. Oh, I didn't know that! It wasn't there when I checked last night. I guess you're right - they always put it up on thursdays. I just never bother looking for it so close to the airing of the episode. But, man, this was a good one! Very Beowulf-ish. Poor Grievous. He looks so sad in the top panel of the last page. Almost like WALL-E. This makes me want to see the episode even more now! I hope they show flashbacks like that in this or some future episode! Quote
simonjedi Posted December 11, 2008 Posted December 11, 2008 Yeh, it was actually, I liked the last page where he's ignoring the battle droid, it humanises him a bit, which is good. I'm getting bored of "kill the jedi, cough cough, running away" I hope they show flashbacks like that in this or some future episode! I think "lair", from what i've heard is star war's "company man" episode, for those who don't watch heroes its a central story with flashbacks about a certain character (Grevious/HRG) Quote
Oky Posted December 11, 2008 Posted December 11, 2008 (edited) I can't get over the awesomeness of that webcomic. I just this panel: Grievous looks so badass in this one! This also shows us pretty well how it looks when he is holding four lightsabers. It's basically not very different from the movie version - the only difference is that the second finger on each hand is missing. I'm still not convinced that he is able to effectively fight with such a grip, but we'll find out tomorrow. Edited December 11, 2008 by Oky Wan Kenobi Quote
Captain REX Posted December 13, 2008 Posted December 13, 2008 it seems in america that the next episode won't be until janary! This means us in England will overtake them. Quote
simonjedi Posted December 13, 2008 Posted December 13, 2008 This episode disappointed me, maybe I over hyped myself, thought this episode had flashbacks, or knew the twist 3 months before. There was some good things though. Kit's fight with grevious, nahdar's battle with the magnaguards was cool. It was very atmospheric, wish they could have have Nadar on a few more episodes before this, it'll make his death more tragic. The beast battle was cool and we almost saw grevious unmasked. Quote
Jlblue Posted December 13, 2008 Posted December 13, 2008 wish they could have have Nadar on a few more episodes before this I agree with you wholeheartedly. I'm pleasantly surprised by both the addition of new characters, and the fact that they actually show death. However, I do think that they should allow the new characters some time before offing them instantaneously. They had an intriguing new villain with Captain Argyus, something they need. The episodes with Anikan, Obi and Ahsoka vs. Grievous will get boring really quickly unless they introduce both new protagonists and antagonists so there's actually a bit of tension to the fight instead of being "They fight. Grievous runs away." Personally I hope that Anikan and Obi will soon take a backseat and let the clones and minor Jedi become the focus. Quote
