darkrebellion Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 (edited) Well, yes, we know that this wasn't exactly the best episode ever, but if you ask me, none of the first parts of the 2- or 3-part stories in this show were. They all just serve the purpose of preparing the viewer for the following episode(s). Downfall of a Droid for example sucked, whereas Duel of the Droids rocked. So, I'm really hoping that Gungan General will be about just as good as Duel of the Droids! And I'm very curious what Dooku's secret plan is... Well maybe your are correct in this Oky Wan Kenobi and "Gungan General" could be great but to be honest this episode have great potential and they just ruined it. I really like "Downfall of a Droid" because it was a good episode, good battle sequence, than the way that R6 sabotiage Anakin is great and in my opinion one of the coolest episodes if it can´t enter in the "bests" categories . EDIT: Sorry for the mistake I correct it. Edited January 6, 2009 by darkrebellion Quote

Oky Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 I just saw "Gungan General", and I must say it was almost as disappointing as "Dooku Captured". However, there were some nice things going on, like for example the classic mutiny amongst the pirates and Dooku kicking some butt! The way he took out those pirates was awesome! And Jar Jar's actions in this episode were quite pleasant except for the fact that this was the first time that one of his shenanigans actually caused some deaths. And it looks like there wasn't any big plan behind Dooku's decision to let himself get captured and walk around tied to two jedi, except for getting his behind off of that planet. I don't know. Somehow this 2-part story was kinda stupid. Oh well, it looks like the next episode will be much better. It has Aayla Secura in it! Woohoo! Btw, has anyone read the webcomic to "Gungan General"? It features the pirates' Kowakian Monkey Lizard trying to poison Obi & Annie. It's hilarious! Reminded me of a Road Runner cartoon. THANK HADES THEY DIDN'T DO THAT.That's the kind of fanboy nerd type junk that kills a franchise for me. (...) Just because a concept was cool once, does NOT mean it has to be revisited. Only NERDS have to connect every one little point to another. Now, I don't want to start a fight with an admin, but... I must say I don't like your tone, JINZONINGEN. What you said was almost insulting to people who liked that idea. People like me. I think the "carbonite infiltration maneuver" was a very creative and clever idea and would have been something new to watch. Besides, a lot of stuff gets "revisited" in Star Wars, especially in this show, so shouldn't you be hating the whole saga? Signed, Oky "Nerdy" Wan Kenobi. Quote
SkyOtic Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 It would be interesting indeed. Its actually a good idea! it would be nice to see how they get out of the carbonite again. then i"m nerdy too i think. nerdotic Quote
Captain REX Posted January 11, 2009 Posted January 11, 2009 The funny thing was when the clones sent jar jar to "negotiate" with the pirates i thought they were trying to get him killed! But then i was dissapointed . By the way is it me or does aayla aound russian? Quote
SkyOtic Posted January 11, 2009 Posted January 11, 2009 I wasn't lisning at all when they were talking in that preview, I was just like "OMG! aayla secura!" Quote
simonjedi Posted January 11, 2009 Posted January 11, 2009 I'm glad they didn't use the carbonite chamber route, theres too many problems, how would they get out of carbonite and the sickness associated with it (like han solo). i wouldn't want them to be blind during half the episode. The 2 parter was very dissapointing, jar jars voice is obviously not ahmed bests. Still Aayla secura next week and its written by katie lucas so it might be good. Quote
Corvus Posted January 11, 2009 Posted January 11, 2009 I think the 'Gungan General' has had the best quotes so far. "I don't want to kill you.... per se. In fact, you seem like decent fellows. Even you, Count." -- Hondo Ohnaka to the Jedi. - "You should be more patient, Master. After all, the Count is an elderly gentleman and doesn't move like he used to." - "I suppose you're right." - "I would kill you both right now if I did not have to drag your bodies." -- Anakin, Obi-Wan and Dooku - "That can't be right." - "Are you calling me a liar?" - "Isn't that kind of what you do for a living?" -- Anakin and Hondo Ohnaka "Kill him! Kill him! He's no representative! He's a plague!" -- Weequay pirate after dealing with Jar Jar. I liked Obi Wan's response to Hondo: - "Oh, Captain, you will find that Count Dooku does not share our sense of honor... and he knows where you live." Uh oh. Quote

General Magma Posted January 12, 2009 Posted January 12, 2009 Why does (most of the people) hate Ashoka? I don't get why they want her dead Cause she's annoying and a worse addition to the Star Wars' universe. If they were going to add a new character to Star Wars, then throw in some new Clone Commander or something.. Anyways, I've seen some episodes on the Star Wars site. Most of 'em were great! If anyone knows when the Gungan General gets on there, please tell me! Quote
Oky Posted January 12, 2009 Posted January 12, 2009 I think the 'Gungan General' has had the best quotes so far. *SNIP* I liked Obi Wan's response to Hondo: - "Oh, Captain, you will find that Count Dooku does not share our sense of honor... and he knows where you live." Uh oh. Yes, this episode did have a lot of nice quotes, and that last one was my favorite too. What was also nice is the Twi'lek silhouette on the pirate's speederbike and the poster on the wall, a nice reference to bikers of our universe, and the poster on the wall. And did anyone catch the Indy reference? Why does (most of the people) hate Ashoka? I don't get why they want her dead We don't hate Ashoka. He/she is a nice and respectable EB member. Ahsoka, on the other hand, is somebody some people do seem to hate. I don't share that feeling, however. I think she is a fun character. But I agree that her conversations with Anakin do get annoying after a while, especially when they call each other by their stupid nicknames. If they were going to add a new character to Star Wars, then throw in some new Clone Commander or something. I disagree. Clone commanders are boring. Mostly, they are all the same. They are clones after all. Besides, we get a new clone commander with every second episode or so, so you shouldn't have any reason to complain. Quote
Justin2224 Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 (edited) I never hated Ahsoka, and she's actually growing on me. And plus, she hasn't been in that many episodes, and those of which she has been in, well, she wast relatively beastly, per se. As for the latest episode, this is probably my fav as of now, and I really like what they did with 'Fives'. And like Mr. Mandalorian said, it does have some pretty good qoutes. Edit: What was the Indy refernce? Edited January 13, 2009 by Justin2224 Quote
darkrebellion Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 I just finish of seeing "Gungan General" and I need to say that it was a fairly good episode . I really think this is a good episode but surely not reach the leagues of "Lair of Grevious", "Cloack of Darkness" and "Duel of the Droids" which are the best ones yet in my opinion. The way they must try to escape with Dooku is good and I like too see some new planet landscape (I especially like the detail that the geisers throw acid ). The way the pirates betray each others shows the true nature of them. The speeder bikes and the tank are also cool but I wish they would have a bit more action. The way they escape three times is pretty funny cause if you start to think about it, it is somewhat funny that TWO JEDI KNIGHTS and ONE LORD SITH can´t escape from a bunch of pirates. Then there were that amazing IJ references. I think the stick-thing of Ra is the most notable but unfortunately I couldn´t found the supposed "ark" anywhere in the episode. Finally after all Jar Jar isn´t so irritating and is somewhat more intelligent in this episode. Now I can critic the bad things the episode have. First was the fact that Obi and Anakin actually GET poisoned even if the last episode show us that they change their cups with other pirates , what a BIG MESS they do with the story? Then the really undeveloped senator character. C´mon, that guy nearly said two phrases. I don´t like the fact that they kill almost every new character they introduce to the series in the same episode . Then Jar Jar didn´t felt so worry when HIS friend dead. He just said a bunch of nearly non-sense words but didn´t express any feeling of sadness. I don´t like the fact that the episode ends with actually NO complot against the Jedis by part of Dooku and all this after Dave Filioni said in the episode commentary of "Dooku Captured" that maybe the ease of the capture of Dooku is part of his BIG plan but at the end he just escapes (The cool part was when he use force choke in a pirate ). At the end a pretty good episode with some great flaws but looking at the positive side we are just a few days to the premiere of an episode with Aayla Secura, yeas I am talking about "Jedi Crash" . Lt. Veers Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 I don't know if this has been posted already, but scroll to the bottom of this page, and the is so interesting rumors about upcoming episodes. (May contain spoilers) Quote
Corvus Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 I disagree. Clone commanders are boring. Mostly, they are all the same. They are clones after all. Besides, we get a new clone commander with every second episode or so, so you shouldn't have any reason to complain. Speaking of which, I just watched the commentary on 'Cloak of Darkness.' I really don't like Filoni's view of clones. How are senate commandos 'elite' to clones? Clones ARE the elite. Sure, the senate commandos might have better armor, but the clones have spent their lives training for battle. Sure, their lives were short, but ten years of very, very intensive training (and being clones of Jango Fett!) would make each and every one an amazing warrior. But no, some are downright stupid... And how do clones have less originality than other humans? I don't get it. I'm sure a clone has a higher IQ than most people, and are much more resourceful. Anyway, you're right that a new commander gets boring. The cool thing about commanders is that they're characters that you can look into- if we get a new one every episode it's just another guy with a cool paint job and a kama. The new episode looks great! Aayla Secura and Commander Bly! Awesome. I'm worried about Rex, though- he looks like he's in a bit of trouble in that teaser. Is it just me, or is Aayla a little.... overly sexy? I mean, I like a shapely Twi-lek too, but she's a little too much for a kid's show. Quote

Corvus Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 Question is, do us middle aged star wars fans care? Not that much...I'd tone it down a little, but it's funny how Cartoon Network censors out 'hell', so it'll be funny to see what they'll think of this. Quote
Captain REX Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 what did they acctually sensor hell out of rookies? what happened did it beep or did they just say "what the was that?"? Quote
SkyOtic Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 I have the apidose,on my pc and it doesnt censor it Quote
Bob Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 I have no problem with Aalya Knowing Cartoon Network, they'll place a giant blur over Secura's chest. Anyway, I hope we get a Commander Bly mini figure. He was my favorite commander. I like how they are bringing out all these new planets. Toydaria was mentioned in Episode 1, but the others like: Grievous' Planet Pirate Planet Planet with the caves which they crashed on (Forgot the name) Listening outpost planet Toydaria and others. At least one episode without Anakin would be good though... Quote
Oky Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 Then there were that amazing IJ references. I think the stick-thing of Ra is the most notable but unfortunately I couldn´t found the supposed "ark" anywhere in the episode. That's because it's not in that episode. Filoni said that it's in a future episode. Btw, if someone wants to find out what the Indy reference in Gungan General is, click here. Now I can critic the bad things the episode have. First was the fact that Obi and Anakin actually GET poisoned even if the last episode show us that they change their cups with other pirates , what a BIG MESS they do with the story? You have to read the webcomic if you want to understand what happens between two episodes, silly. Then Jar Jar didn´t feel so worry when HIS friend died. He just said a bunch of nearly non-sense words but didn´t express any feeling of sadness. I disagree. I think his words did make sense and that he appeared to be in grief - compared to his usual happy/goofy self at least. I don´t like the fact that the episode ends with actually NO complot against the Jedis by part of Dooku and all this after Dave Filioni said in the episode commentary of "Dooku Captured" that maybe the ease of the capture of Dooku is part of his BIG plan but at the end he just escapes (...). Yes. As I said before, this is exactly what bothered me the most too. Is it just me, or is Aayla a little.... overly sexy? I mean, I like a shapely Twi-lek too, but she's a little too much for a kid's show. Well, it might be true that she is more "shapely" than other female character on the show, and she has a Russian accent, which makes her even hotter but it's not like she walks around naked or anything. Therefore, I agree with Snake in saying: Who cares what the kids think! At least one episode without Anakin would be good though... What do you mean? There have been several episodes without Annie already, like Lair of Grievous, Cloak of Darkness, and Ambush. Besides, the episodes that have Anakin in it aren't all that bad, especially Duel of the Droids and (probably) the upcoming 2-parter with Aayla Secura. Speaking of which... Dave Filoni: "These two episodes raise a very interesting question about the Jedi: Can they still be considered keepers of the peace now that they are soldiers in war?" Looks like you'll get some answers on your questions about the morality of the Jedi in the Clone Wars, Mr. Mandalorian. Quote
darkrebellion Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 Thanks a lot for the link to the webcomic Oky Wan Kenobi . Now this makes a lot more sense . I think that webcomics shouldn´t be important in the development of the episodes . Just think about how many people don´t understand "Gungan General" just cause they decide to explain a main plot detail of the episode in a webcomic . Quote
