Alright, so I have seen "Lair of Grievous" as well, and I tought it was pretty good, but not quite as good as it could have been. For example, the way that

Grievous defeated Nahdar Vebb was kinda lame. I was hoping for him to defeat the young jedi knight in a fair duel, but instead, he cheats by using a blaster.

:pir-hmpf_bad: The fact that he cheated may reinforce his role as a villain, but it also contradicts with his proud warrior personallity. :pir-sad2: It happened too quickly too. I had to watch that scene twice to really see what happened. :pir-sceptic:

The main plot of

Dooku setting all of this up to test Grievous

was interesting. It explained why Grievous isn't as badass in this show as he was in the old cartoon:

This show is apparently set between Chapter 21 and Chapter 22 of Star Wars: Clone Wars. Anakin has been knighted and is fighting alongside Obi Wan, while Grievous was turned into a cyborg and revealed himself during the Battle of Hypori. After Grievous wasn't able to kill anything better than young Jedi Knights, Dooku decides to test his skills in "Lair of Grievous". Grievous fails the test, so Dooku starts giving him advanced training in lightsaber fight, as seen in Chapter 22. Therefore, he is much better trained by the time he kidnaps the Chancellor, and his "I have been trained in your Jedi arts by Count Dooku" line in ROTS finally makes sense since his fight with Obi on the Malevolence was before he received the training from Dooku.

So, here is for hoping that we will see Grievous improving in his fighting skills, and less running away. :pir-classic:

This episode disappointed me, maybe I over hyped myself, thought this episode had flashbacks, or knew the twist 3 months before.

Well, although I didn't expect it to be a "company man" style episode like you, I was kinda disappointed as well. They could have at least revealed a bit more of Grievous' past than just the fact that he used to be a Kaleesh warrior. Any SW geek knows that already. :pir-hmpf::pir_laugh2:

But the episode already feeled rushed without any flashbacks, so I guess it's better this way. :pir-sceptic:

There was some good things though.

Kit's fight with grevious, nahdar's battle with the magnaguards was cool.

I agree! Kit kicks megablocks! :pir-sweet: The fights were a bit short, though. :pir-sceptic:

Hopefully we will see more intense lightsaber fights like this!

It was very atmospheric, wish they could have had Nadar on a few more episodes before this, it would have made his

death more tragic.

True, but we must consider that there are also kids watching this show, so it's probably good that they didn't have much time to attach to that character.

This makes me think if Ahsoka will ever die. It would be quite shocking and tragic if she did, being the padawan of the main character and all. Besides, didn't Yoda assign Ahsoka to Anakin so that he learns to handle loss? This would either mean that Anakin loses her as a padawan (meaning that she completes her training and leaves to fight her own battles as a Jedi Knight) or that she will die by the end of the show. :pir-look: I guess we'll have to wait and see.

The beast battle was cool and we almost saw grevious unmasked.

Yeah, almost! :pir-hmpf_bad:

Oh well, it wouldn't have been a pleasant sight anyway, I guess. :pir-wink:

Personally I hope that Anikan and Obi will soon take a backseat and let the clones and minor Jedi become the focus.

I disagree. I haven't seen enough from Obi Wan, to be honest. An episode with only him and Cody as the protagonists would be great IMO! :pir-sweet:

The preview of the next episode, "Dooku Captured" didn't excite me that much, but on second thought, this might turn out to be a good episode. It seems like one of those classic Obi-and-Anakin style Clone Wars stories as seen in Chapter 22 of Star Wars: Clone Wars. Also, we will finally see Dooku doing more than just appearing in holograms and saying stuff like "Your failure is disappointing." :pir-hmpf: And considering that Dooku was captured by pirates, we might get a glimpse at the rumored "pirate tank". :pir-sweet:

However...

it seems in America that the next episode won't be until January!

Sad, but true. :pir-cry_sad:

She could be knighted, I suppose. But it would seem very weird to knight Ahsoka at age, what, 13? Especially when the council was all like "no, Anakin's not ready!" when knighting him sooner could've prevented him from getting all nice and angsty before killing everyone. :pir-tongue:

So yeah, I think either death, or maybe she changes masters or something?

I think Ashoka will appear in the live-action TV series a few years down the road. I doubt they would kill her off.

I don't think so, but it would definitely be an interesting idea. The live action show is set in the Dark Times, so Ahsoka would be all grown-up and one of the surviving jedi. Just imagine a scenario where she has to duel her former master, who is now Darth Vader! :pir-oh:

However, after getting used to the CG version of her, it would be weird to watch her live action version. :pir-sceptic:

Oh, Ashoka will die. She has too. It would be a plot hole if she isn't killed off.

You mean like the Jar-Jar-didn't-die plot hole? :pir-tongue:

Well, she did get promoted from Youngling to Padawan early too. Anakin was only held back because he still showed bad traits like stubbornness. Ahsoka has those too (which makes her a perfect padawan for Annie) but she is also very reasonable, like Obi Wan, and has a good heart, so she is more likely to be knighted early than him.

Changing masters would be an idea too, but it would leave us unknowing of what will become of Ahsoka. The audience wants her to succeed in her training, so knighting her would be kind of an happy end. Her dying would be a sad ending. But changing masters would be just something in between. :pir-sceptic: You know what I mean?

Besides, why would she change masters? Because Anakin fails in his role as a master? :pir-look:

Dave fiolini mentions that this Clone wars ignores the old cartoon one so that observation is wrong. Besides the reason Grevious was more Badass in the cartoon was because it had over the top fighting styles which are wrong.

I have never heard him say that, but if it's true, it's not right what they're doing. :pir-hmpf_bad: Both shows are cannon, so the new one should yield the old one. :pir-sad2:

Btw, does anyone else find it funny that Kit Fisto has a Jamaican accent? I mean, it kinda matches his "dreadlocks", but isn't that a bit stereotypical? :pir-sceptic:

No clue. I'm just trying to think of alternatives to death. Either way, she's a Jedi, so if she survives Order 66, I doubt she'll survive the Purge.

I found it absolutely hilarious. :pir-tongue:

The episode commentary for Lair is up and answers some questions about continuity. Apparently, Filoni respects the EU so much that he is afraid to add too much to it. He doesn't want to define Grievous' past for us or show us what he looks like under the mask. He rather leaves that to our imagination. Which is good - in a way - but I would prefer it if he would go a little further with this kind of stuff. :pir-sceptic: Oh well.

Yup, she's doomed. :pir-devil:

Same here. He was voiced by Phil LaMarr, btw, the voice of Samurai Jack and Hermes from Futurama! :pir-sweet: You can find an interview with him here.

May the force be with us, mon! :pir_laugh2:

But the fact remains that the Tartakovsky Clone Wars beats the Filoni Clone Wars out of the park.

Agreed.

He does? Damn that would be funny. Stuipid CW episodes in Australia not coming out fast enough... :pir-hmpf_bad:

Samuri Jack had a Jamaican accent? Since When? :pir-tongue:

Ahh Hermes...This will be funny :pir-laugh::pir-grin:

Well the latest CW Episode out in Aus was where they destroyed Malevolence and rescued Padme...Which wasn't that great of an episode.

He didn't, but he was still voiced by LaMarr. :pir-wink: And Kit's accent isn't all that funny; it's not as extreme as Hermes', but still clearly recognizable to be Jamaican.

Btw, please stop saying that the old cartoon was better. We all know that. :pir-tongue:

Ahh ok I was thinkin' full on Jamaican accent

No I wont stop sayin' it. ........Ok I will stop bitching about the new CW sucking compared to the old one. Happy?

Do you think I used enough of  ?

Yes, I can :hmpf_bad: but I thought I needed to point out that not every character voiced by LaMarr has to have a Caribbean accent. :sadnew:

Yeah, that works.

Erm, let me think - YES. :hmpf_bad:

Back on topic: Another good thing about Lair of Grievous is that it had the first in-person appearance of Mace Windu in this show! :oh3: I hope that's a sign that we will see more of him in the near future! :sweet: More than just sitting around in the Jedi Temple with Yoda that is. :hmpf_bad:

Dude, if you don't like this show, get out of this thread and make your own topic about the old cartoon! :hmpf_bad:

Besides, you shouldn't judge the show until you have seen Rookies, Duel of the Droids, and Lair of Grievous. Those are some of the best episodes so far.

Same here. I mean, I KNEW what happened, but I also felt very strongly that some final editor went and made it less graphic, panning the scene into a WTF just happened type thing.

I was right lol. I hope that since they're censoring "hell" from the previous episodes that all the recent lightsaber deaths haven't resulted in a crackdown on onscreen death. My eyes have seen a LOT of last-minute censoring in anime and movies. I'm TRAINED to spot it when stuff gets watered down lol.

Lol @ the Jamaican accent. It fits, not too wonky.

Will Asoka die? Hell yes she'll die. I'm guessing they're saving her up for some dramatic event in which she croaks and Anakin starts acting more like Vader. Up until now, he's been a goody-goody... way too much so. They've GOT to toss a life-altering thing in there and her getting knocked off would be a good way to do it, if done right.

Are all those statues in Grievous' lair depictions of him in his former life?

(Is pissed that we didn't see all of his face underneath the mask...)

It was a good episode... my only gripe being the heavy feelings that the guppyhead was doomed. Too much placement of foreshadowing. Maybe little kids were suprised, but I don't think many of us who've seen 8 million scifi shows before were "shocked".

Or maybe it's just that those GIANT eyes look like you could take the person out with no more than a poke from your pinky finger.

Wasn't impressed with his suit, either. The character design made him look too much like Admiral Akhbar. Ok, he's a strange alien, but differentiate his clothing a bit as if it were a human.. geez...

Seconded. :look: That would suck. I mean, it's not like those were gory or anything. :sceptic:

Agreed. :sadnew: I mean, c'mon, where is his signature emoness? It would be cool if Ahsoka would die this way, but I think that would defeat the purpose of Annie learning lesson about loss. Of course, we all know that he doesn't learn this lesson until the last freakin' minute when his own son is about to die  but still - it's a kids show that is supposed to teach morals and junk.

Are all those statues in Grievous' lair depictions of him in his former life?

Yes, especially the first one that is shown. It's him in the same pose as in the second fashback of the webcomic. The others are probably representing what Grievous sees himself as today: The same Kaleesh warrior he used to be, but with mechanical limbs as "improvements".

 True.

What if Ahsoka is for some reason re-assigned to another Jedi? I think this would be a better way to get her out of the picture than killing her off, considering this is a kid's show and they might (will) become attached to her?

Posted

Well I just finished of seeing "Bombad Jedi" and I need to said that I like it!!!:laugh: .

I think this episode is actually pretty good. It shows how Jar Jar is more courage than we saw it at TPM and the whole Lando´s style story is pretty good. Padme like always is pretty "active" and she knows some good defensive techniques. Also the new caterpillar type creature is a good addition to the always growing SW creature universe  . I need to admit I  C-3PO in this episode even if he is kinda annoying in others (cough-Destroying Malevolence-cough) . I overall like it and I don´t see it like the worst in the series, that place is for sure for "Destroying Malevolence" :hmpf_bad: .

The reason Ashoka has to die is, as JINZONINGEN 73 said, Anikan needs more things to push him over the edge! And he would try to kill her if she doesn't die here!

Yeah, he is too goody-goody. He needs to kill someone, or several someones. Preferably Jar-Jar.

I imagine she'll be on a mission, the Jedi council will have a mission of higher priority than saving her butt, and she'll get mercilessly toasted.

...Making Anikin apathetic towards the council and the value of life in general.

Grevious may kill her, as Anakin insists to go with Obi to find him in episode three. But he isn't allowed so he gets a little bit (large understatement) annoyed. Hopefully they won't show her death as kids will get upset. :look:
