Ever since I bought the System ISD, I've been wanting to make a shuttle to replace the escape pod; I started this to that end, but regrettably, it's a bit too large to fit. However, I think it'll fit nicely in the Death Star playset, which I'll be getting around to ordering soon. Further inspired by Vader's mini-TIE, I cobbled together a mini X-Wing. I started wondering if anyone else out there was making mini versions of SW ships to size up with the Death Star and the mini-TIE.

I'm working on a mini X-wing on LDD and then I might build it myself or order it from Factory (It's a bit bigger than yours though) for when (and if) I get the Death Star.

Wow, they really look very good, especcialy for their size!

I like your x-wing as much as I like the Imperial Shuttle.

I dont own much Star Wars Lego yet, but it is on my os so long buying list, right next to the new Pirate line and the Castle set on the frontpage !

I just bought these along with the Death Star on SAH...just a couple weeks and I'll be building like a madman. I had a spot of trouble with a brick or two being removed for improper placement on LDD. Anyway, when I tried uploading to the Factory gallery, instead of a pic, I got a blank page with a little exclamation mark in the upper right corner. So, it may or may not show up on the gallery. First time I've had trouble. I checked the alignment with real bricks and it seems to work fine...

Just fro gee-whiz sakes, "chibi" is a term I've heard applied to super-deformed, miniaturized, otherwise "cutesied' versions of people and things; I'm not sure if the term itself is Japanese, but I believe the word application stems from Japan, usually towards Japanese toys and such of said description. If anyone knows for certain, please feel free to correct (and educate) me.

I made a minor mod to my X-Wing and designed a small droid transport that can snap on directly behind the cockpit. I designed it to conform to the X-Wing, and it can attach to itself allowing a series of these to be attached to each other, although it'd look really strange. I hooked 2 up behind my X-Wing and , yeah, weird looking, but functional. The X-Wing doesn't look too bad with just one attached; wish LDD had droid parts.

Wow! I really like those! They are so cute! I really like the X-Wing! :cry_happy: I hope you make more!

Thanks for the vote of confidence! Being a bigger fan of OT, I may make a Y-Wing, and possibly even a stab at a Millenium Falcon styled ship. The Y-Wing is definitely do-able without looking too terribly cutesy. My aim is to make these as compact versions of their larger counterparts, without looking too cutesy, although i guess it's pretty moot. Anyway, I think it's possible to make a small MF shaped cargo vessel without it becoming silly looking. It's a neat challenge to make it look conceivable. And it's for fun. :classic:

Maybe I'll start a trend with these...I'd be happy to see other folks' projects, esp when they're designed to be incorporated in an existing set...that's cool.

Looks good but could you please resize that a bit?

It nearly takes all screen on my computer...

That also goes for your first pic. You can change it in photoshop and most other photosuites.

Sorry about the pic size. I don't have any photo-manipulation software, so that's not an option. There's nothing in properties to allow me to do so, either. If the mods can reduce it, great. If anyone out there knows how to resize pics without specialty software, I'll give it a try.

Follow the link in my sig or go google IrfanView - a pretty good freeware program

That is funny. :P I like the idea of a small ship that can actually fit minifigs inside. This whoops the lego minis anyday!

Resizing them surely made it difficult to see anything.

If you want to then I'll cut and resize them for you.

Just post the big picture again and I'll do it.

If you want to, then I'm agreeable. Since I'm posting these as attachments (all pics are saved on my PC), I'll have to delete one or the other to make one of them normal size. With the two resized pics I have up now, my attachment space is maxed out.

I finished my mini YT-1300 freighter (Millennium Falcon inspired). (Note to purists, my version is predominantly black due to the limits of the color pallette in LDD. As with my other models, I've taken some liberties, but the essence of its inspiration is still there.) The model has extending/retracting tricycle landing gear and the side hatches are hinged as well as the entire top of the ship. The main body of the ship features engine/hyperdrive detail and a cargo area. The top and bottom cannons can rotate 360 degrees. I had no preconception of how I was going to build this; I just wanted to capture the basic shape, and I think I managed to do that. Despite some frustrating quirks of LDD, it was alot of fun to build. I'll let you guys be the judge of how I did.

Just checked My Factory page, and my mini X-Wing and Shuttle sets are flagged as being in trademark violation. :hmpf_bad: I changed the name to mini-ships; hopefully that'll be sufficient to allow placement in the gallery. Granted, they look like Star Wars ships, but I've seen other Star Warsy ships and such in the gallery.

This is a cool idea and sparked a cool new theme like a lego mini minifigure scale vers. of a starwars s wing (made by keith goldman)

This is good. I like how you made the X-Wing fighter. They must be a neat thing to own.

Thanks for the kind words. Well, it was my intention to put the X-Wing/Shuttle set up in the Factory gallery so anyone could buy them if so desired; however, TLG rejected them due to trademark infringement. The mini-Millennium Falcon is on Factory gallery under Space, going by the name Space Freighter, so it's actually available to buy. I bought the X-Wing and shuttle (still waiting for them to ship), but I haven't ordered my Falcon yet.

These are very good, especially the X-Wing! :oh: Despite the dark color scheme, the Millenium Falcon is pretty good, too, and it's amazing that you could fit all those play features in there as well, especially considering that you made this at the computer! :oh3: Well done you have! :yoda:

Yes, I had been playing with the idea of creating more of this kind of SW MOCs ever since I saw that Mini TIE Advanced too. I think it's an interesting concept and a fun challenge. I even made the suggestion to make this a contest here on EB in the new contests thread. At some point, I plan to make some super-deformed PT vessels. :sweet:

EDIT: I just made a super-deformed Naboo Starfighter! Look:

I had to replace some of the grey parts with white, but I think it still looks pretty good. :classic:

Right on! You've got the essence of the original, but with your own touch. I feel you as far as colors go...LDD is pretty limited, but you did very well with what's available. Nice SNOT on the tail, BTW.

Given the popularity of Star Wars, I wish TLG could approach Lucasarts about including SW elements into LDD, esp figs and droid parts. I doubt it'll happen, though.
