Maybe Lego can call DC. A Batman Lego theme would kick much "Megablock" :D ;) Quote

Vader Posted December 14, 2004 Posted December 14, 2004 There wont be any batman movie sets from lego as i saw some pics the other day of some another companies batman movie sets, the vehicles looked good but the figs sucked. *sick* Quote
David85 Posted December 14, 2004 Posted December 14, 2004 Spiderman is iffy, they sold the comic book rights to Megablocks so we might not get any more Spider Man sets at all. What a shame. But Lego have a licence with Sony, not Marvel. So they should be able to keep making sets. But Sony doesn't have the rights for Spiderman, Marvel does, so this could end very quickly. Quote
Vader Posted December 14, 2004 Posted December 14, 2004 I think youll find that lego will still be able to make spidey sets as the contract will still hold up until its expiry date, however when that ends it will probably be the end of all marvel related lego sets. Quote
medib Posted December 14, 2004 Posted December 14, 2004 Marvel does hold intellectual rights to Spidey, but as far as I am concerned as long as Sony is the principal film producer and distributer of Spidey, then I think Lego holds rights to produce toys. Though this may be a good question to ask Jake McKee about next time there is a (on-line or otherwise) Q&A with him. Yes, we SHOULD see another batch of HP sets for Goblet of Fire. I'm surprised we didn't see a couple of new sets this winter from the 3rd movie. Ben Medinets Quote
David85 Posted December 14, 2004 Posted December 14, 2004 Does Lego have the rights to make Spiderman sets? -Us We do not talk about possible future products. -Jake Jake is becoming more and more completely pointless, and less helper by the day. He is no longer in touch with the company or with the AFOL. The AFOL are now the Adult Freaks of Lego. And lego has lost it's mind. I don't think we will get any new HP sets this January, just a fealing through. These license rights are so confusing. One video game company had the rights to the LotR movies, and another one had the rights to do video games on the LotR the book. Quote
medib Posted December 14, 2004 Posted December 14, 2004 don't think we will get any new HP sets this January, just a fealing through. I don't think we'll get them either. That's why I said I was surprised. *satis* We do not talk about possible future products. -JakeJake is becoming more and more completely pointless, and less helper by the day. He is no longer in touch with the company or with the AFOL. The AFOL are now the Adult Freaks of Lego. And lego has lost it's mind. I think this is due to "walking the fine line" between trying to maintain good relations with fans (Freaks as you say) and the "hard company line". I also think he lost a lot of credibity when KK2 came out and when the bley first hit the market and he had a "deer in the headlights" posture. Bottom-line: no matter how hard Jake tries, he is no Brad Justice (former SVP of Lego Direct). However, he is One avenue of approach, and as long as it is still there, we should make use of it as best we can. As far as licenses go, Lego did say they were trying to get rid of all licenses. It may mean that they didn't get a good return on their investment in Spidey sets, and may decide not to pursuit them. Ben M. Quote
David85 Posted December 15, 2004 Posted December 15, 2004 I wasn't saying ALL AFOL are freaks, but just go over and read some of the topics on Lugnet and they are freaks! "I have 7 billion grey pieces!", that's not a hobby, theat's called being obsessed with them. "Let's all write to the owner!" What the hell will that do? Lego is making tons of mistakes, but they aren't going to listen to us, that much has been shown. People need to take what we get until the time Lego gets so bad you can not. You don't like the new greys that much? Then sell your legos if you feel that strong about them. Quote
