jonfett Posted December 22, 2004 Posted December 22, 2004 I am just wondering how this will sit still on my shelf?? :P Jon. Quote
Orlego Posted December 22, 2004 Posted December 22, 2004 It looks like it would rock back and forth. Quote
Vader Posted December 22, 2004 Posted December 22, 2004 I hope the gen grevious droid is done better than this one *sick* Quote
Cello Collin Posted December 22, 2004 Posted December 22, 2004 Ahh, you guys gotta learn to be more open to such crazy designs. I don't see why y'all hate it so much. Quote
Vader Posted December 22, 2004 Posted December 22, 2004 Well its just our opinion after all and were not telling anyone out there that they shouldnt get it. Quote
Cello Collin Posted December 22, 2004 Posted December 22, 2004 Nooo no no, I'm not saying that. I'm just trying to figure out why y'all hate it so much. I have yet to see a valid comment about this thing, other than "It looks like it would rock back and forth." Quote
DoubleT Posted December 22, 2004 Posted December 22, 2004 This looks like an Alpha Team set *sick* Wait a minut.... I find that the Alpha Team set are great? the new one atleast... And as Collin say, its a new design, good to see that both Lucas and Lego, canmake different types. Everything dont have to be standard ;) Quote
sam89 Posted December 22, 2004 Author Posted December 22, 2004 I saw this early on but didn't post it since it hadn't been put on Rebelscum officially. I like it. Nice colour, and an interesting design with the three curved bits going round the outside. I can't really see the buzz droid enough to comment on it, but from what I can see it looks like the one in the film. I'm wondering if everyone has noticed that there are THREE curved wing parts on this set, and not two? Maybe that's why people think it looks weird? So not a bad set, and hopefully we'll get shown the Grievous set tomorrow Quote
Vader Posted December 22, 2004 Posted December 22, 2004 I cant wait to see the grevious set hopefully only 24hrs to go :-D as for the tri-fighter it just dosent look right to me cant quite put my finger on it, but as ive said before opinions can change alot when we get clearer pics or when the box is in hand :-D Quote
Cello Collin Posted December 22, 2004 Posted December 22, 2004 I saw this early on but didn't post it since it hadn't been put on Rebelscum officially. Dude, they're leaked pics. As in, BAD leaked. Not like RS deserves privacy in this matter. ;) Quote
Vader Posted December 22, 2004 Posted December 22, 2004 Well over here all pics are good :-D ;) Quote
iangreig Posted December 22, 2004 Posted December 22, 2004 I'm just trying to figure out why y'all hate it so much. I have yet to see a valid comment about this thing, ... Where to start ? I guess there are two issues here, the original EP3 design & Lego's interpretation of that design. I haven't seen the original, but I'm assuming that Lucas thinks it's a fair representation, otherwise it wouldn't have been approved. From an original design perspective, I think it's very poor, but I'll reserve final judgement until I've seen the 'real' thing (can anyone provide me with a link ?) - however, from a combat vehicle design point of view, it makes little or no sense. You have a clear sphere for the robotic pilot to sit in, but then you obscure any view it might have, by wrapping arms around it & placing the main weapon directly in its line of sight ? If he doesn't need a visual view of the environment ahead, then ditch the sphere and bury the pilot deep inside the fuselage where it is well protected. But whichever way you look at it, what is the point of the 'arms' ? From a Lego standpoint, it looks, to me, to be a very lazy design. There are some interesting pieces in there, and I'll go out and buy at least two of this set purely for parts, but it doesn't look like an interesting build. Neither does it have any realy visual "sparkle' (for want of a better world) - it doesn't seem interesting to look at. On initial inspection, I would rate this set lower than the original EP1 droid fighter. Sorry. Ian Quote
sam89 Posted December 22, 2004 Author Posted December 22, 2004 So it looks like it's just me and Collin who like this set :-D Quote
Cello Collin Posted December 22, 2004 Posted December 22, 2004 I've been talking to Jon Palmer and Brickmodder on AIM about it, and they both love it (and Jon's been sick of Star Wars for a long time now). So I feel better now. ;) Quote
Vader Posted December 22, 2004 Posted December 22, 2004 Hey thats cool, after all we cant all like them same stuff :) Quote
iangreig Posted December 22, 2004 Posted December 22, 2004 I've been talking to Jon Palmer and Brickmodder on AIM about it, and they both love it (and Jon's been sick of Star Wars for a long time now). So I feel better now. ;) Heh, so I'm wrong then, you shameless name-dropper ? Shame really, 'cause I do like your Inlander, but if I can be wrong about this, I can be wrong about that too, eh ? :P ;) Ian Quote
Cello Collin Posted December 22, 2004 Posted December 22, 2004 Exactly! I'm so glad you're seeing things my way, Ian. ;) Quote
Orlego Posted December 22, 2004 Posted December 22, 2004 Nooo no no, I'm not saying that. I'm just trying to figure out why y'all hate it so much. I have yet to see a valid comment about this thing, other than "It looks like it would rock back and forth." I never said I would not buy it, I still will. I just don't like this set much. Why does everything need a valid reason? I just don't like it. That is my opinion. Quote
Cello Collin Posted December 22, 2004 Posted December 22, 2004 And it's perfectly okay if that's your opinion. But it's hard to make conversation when the opposing side won't give any reasons for said opinion. :) Look at Ian, for example. He gave some great arguments for why he didn't like it. That's what I'd like to see. Quote
Orlego Posted December 22, 2004 Posted December 22, 2004 And it's perfectly okay if that's your opinion. But it's hard to make conversation when the opposing side won't give any reasons for said opinion. :) Because I can't give you a reason, I don't know, I just don't like it, it is a little bit of everything. We don't have to go deep into meaning to have a conversation here. Quote
DoubleT Posted December 22, 2004 Posted December 22, 2004 So it looks like it's just me and Collin who like this set :-D No no Sam i like it also :) Quote
sam89 Posted December 22, 2004 Author Posted December 22, 2004 Even though I like it, I can understand why some people wouldn't. I think it's more to do with the design of the ship itself rather than Lego's interpretation of it. It's just something very different to what we've seen before. :) Quote
