MattZitron Posted February 15, 2005 Posted February 15, 2005 Can you imagine a Sandcrawler with bouncy hiphop suspension? Quote
snefroe Posted February 15, 2005 Posted February 15, 2005 tanks '316! it's the "new jawa sandcrawler 2002" if that isn't worth 150 dollars, than I really don't know what is... even though i also think that lego is going to use large plates and wings to pull this one off... don't know 'bout the tracks though... could be just rubber or technic links Quote
Vader Posted February 15, 2005 Posted February 15, 2005 Yeah i would guess that they will use rubber tracks, technic ones would be ok but to me the rubber ones would look alot better. Quote
Darth Drew Posted February 15, 2005 Posted February 15, 2005 There is a problem with having the hull made out of bricks. It will be very heavy and will put alot of pressure on the treads. Quote
snefroe Posted February 15, 2005 Posted February 15, 2005 technic links would probably make it way too expensive... Quote
jonfett Posted February 15, 2005 Posted February 15, 2005 This one would do juuuuust nicely! *satis* Jon. Quote
Darth Drew Posted February 15, 2005 Posted February 15, 2005 I would definitely pay $150 for that! Quote
The Middleman Posted February 15, 2005 Posted February 15, 2005 I don't know if I would. :P Doesn't come with any good extras! :D Quote
snefroe Posted February 16, 2005 Posted February 16, 2005 i know i emmediately fell in love with this one. it's huge, it resembles the real thing, many minifigs and droids,... bring it on, i say :oD Quote
MattZitron Posted February 16, 2005 Posted February 16, 2005 This one would do juuuuust nicely! *satis* Jon. Oh yes. Thats amazing! I like all the little Jawa Hidy holes. I sure hope we have more than 3 Jawas, which with that price tag, I'm sure we will. Quote
Vader Posted February 16, 2005 Posted February 16, 2005 As much as i would love a sandcrawler like that one lets face it, its very unlikely that we will get one anywhere near as good. Quote
andy0113 Posted February 16, 2005 Posted February 16, 2005 Looks like Im in the minority here but I'd much rather Lego have gone with the "plate" approach. The results just look much better and more movie accurate - take the AT-AT for example, the Lego version looks so much better than the "brick by brick" custom versions that you see online. The Lego master builder's Sandcrawler that we've seen a scan of is nice, but the build style just looks a little old fashioned to me now compared to things like the AT-AT and Turbo Tank :/ Hey ho - at least we're getting a Sandcrawler eh ;) Quote
Orlego Posted February 16, 2005 Posted February 16, 2005 The plate approach gets the job done but it makes the model very fragile. I rather see the brick design, especially when paying $150. Quote
Ras 74 Posted February 16, 2005 Posted February 16, 2005 Also the top-front with the small windows seems hard to build with plates in a good way. But the many angles in that area could be easier made in plates. But as you say Orlego, it will be fragile. And since it will cost 150$ and probably be a S@H special, this set could well be a "brick by brick" set in my opinon. Old style ;) Quote

It might also be at certain Toys aRen't Us, but I wouldn't hold my breathe. Quote
Ras 74 Posted February 16, 2005 Posted February 16, 2005 I know a few sets that has been S@H exclusives only. But still has been in different stores by different resons. That was why I wrote "probably". I know by the number it will be a S@H exclusive. Quote

snefroe Posted February 17, 2005 Posted February 17, 2005 i'm not sure about the fragile aspect of the plates. i never thought the AT AT to be weak and fragile. i guess it's all in the design. and for a 150$ they could surely spend a few more bricks on making a solid construction. Quote
Vader Posted February 17, 2005 Posted February 17, 2005 Hmmmm if its done with plates then i think that in places it would be fragile, bricks seem like the best way forward but i suspect that plates is what we will get. Then again perhaps we will get a mixture of the two. Quote

Vader Posted February 17, 2005 Posted February 17, 2005 The same as the cloud city then, its a shame lego dosent sell these sets at retail then we could pick them up when reduced :-D Quote
Jipay Posted February 17, 2005 Posted February 17, 2005 yeah, an ISD reduced would be greatly appreciated, as well as a deathstar reduced could be cool. But I anderstand lego : those are suppose to be rare piece of collectibles and Wall mart is throwing them at -50%. It doesn't fit with the strategy of the line. But it is bad for us. I had my RBR for 80 Quote
Vader Posted February 17, 2005 Posted February 17, 2005 Yeah i can understand why they do it just wish i could get it cheaper, my best find was a RGS for Quote
