2004/2005 Sets and discussion thread

Has anyone bought the General Grievous set yet? I'm tosing up whether to buy that or the Clone Scout Walker and was wondering how good the set is.

I would definitly go for the walker: I have 3 of those and they are great :) .

I saw the GGC set saturday and I really don't think its of any interest: the green beast is just ugly, GG'vehicle looks like crap. Paying 25

No I did not forget our dear Obi, but we can get him later.

I might consider GGC if its in sale for the minifigs though. It doesn't have much interesting parts :'(

I also bought DV transformation to have that cool looking droid and another Anakin: I will do a special Anakin like the one you see in the trailer when he is marching in front of the clone army: just put a black hood and a black cape and you're all set ;)

Anyway we'll have an Obi minifig with his red JSF (and the other ships): ultimate space battle set ;)

My god, you have Darth Vader transformation :o :o . I'm moving over to France, dude. That's one of the coolest ROTS sets!! Is Anakin's face burned or is it the face like in the duel between him and Obi1?

Does GG's head fit on a normal minifig body?

Basically the torso is exactly the same as in the JSF.

His head however has a lot more scars, and bigger scars (you could consider them as burn scars :-D ). He also looks kind of burned because he has no eye lashes ;)

If I had a bloody camera I would post pictures - I think I'll buy one next saturday (but it will be late because everyone will have all the sets - Ill put pictures anyway ;) ).

For GG I can't tell you because I didn't buy it but my guess is that its head fits on a regular minifig torso

The pictures wouldn't come late for me, here where I live, it takes decades until new sets arrive in the shop :'( .

Also I think that on saturday I will also have all the remaining sets I want (clone tank, ARC fighter & Wookie Catamaran ;) ). HURRAY ;)

You're a very lucky guy, you can have all of the new ROTS sets, plus, you must be very rich to buy that many sets in one time, mostly I can only buy one at a time. Once I've gathered the money for another, it's out of sale :'( .

First of all, we don't have the same age ;) I'm nearly 30 ;)

I was like you younger, I had to save my money for the things I wanted the most... Now things are different because I work and thus have a salary (that helps ;) ).

Also don't be that eager to have all the sets at the same time, it kind of ruins it, let me tell you. After I have to wait until september for new ones. Thats why I did not build all the sets I bought saturday in one bash. I take time for it ;)

I used tp be skint and I could never egt sets over 40. Now I have 12-18 paper rounds a week I might be able to get all the ROTS sets straught away :D

I think that spider droid has a crap design anyway. Look at the feet and the ariel is right at the back and not in the middle *sick*

The feet are not great that's for sure, but what do you mean by tha arien comment?

Well on the actual thing, the ariel comes out of the middle of the head, on this it is attached to the back of the head.

I'll be getting most of them. The only one I'm not decided on at the moment is the Ultimate Lightsaber Duel. If I do get it though I'll take the "play sticks" off and just have it as a little diorama.

Same here Sam, I don't really like the look of the set.. its too kiddy for me (how stupid does that sound? Lego is too kiddy? :-D ) It would be neat to make a diorama of it though, if I could get the 2 figs then I would love to have a go at making the lava and platforms.

I think I will aslo hold off from getting the JSF and Vulture droid for now, although it cheap I would rather get the Ultimate space battle and save getting multiple copies.

Making a Mustafar diorama would be a very cool project (maybe I'll try it after Utapau and Kashyyyk?), but it'd be one hell of a Bricklink bill in trans-orange/red bricks/plates.

The two sets I will not get is GGC (for the reasons exposed here above) and the LD: I don't see the point of that set: maybe having two crappy light up sabers ;)

Jon, for this lava platform you would need the 2 droids that save Anakin ;)

Also I have 2 questions guys: do you think we'll get the new ties (beginning of the trailer) and this really cool ship we also see in the trailer, the one with expanded wings? That would really be sweet ;)

One word: NO. I'm sry, but I'm relatively sure that TLC won't make those starships. Why? Well, TLC mostly makes sets of ships that have some sort of larger role in Star Wars. These ships shall only appear briefly, so I say that TLC won't make 'em. Anyhow, just make the wing atop of the Emperor's ship smaller and you have the ship from the trailer *satis*

Before saying this, lets watch the movie first ;) You might be right (hopfully not) If you look the trailer, all the sets that will be out, only were shown very briefly, so I still keep high hopes for those ships.

What really annoys me though is that it is one of my favourite vehicles in the clone war. I was really looking forward to it and I got this sand blue piece of crap.

I actually have a good idea for the head and I was half way through maing one but I just couldn't do the legs so I gave up.
