Eilif Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 (edited) There seems to be an ongoing facination with army building over here. As there has been a Crownie torso ( http://us.factory.lego.com/pab/?warning=fa...id=&shipto= ), breastplates, and a crossbow on PAB online, I was just curious if anyone had been using PAB online to suplement their armies. A PAB crownie without helment or weapons costs $.092. Every "The Knight" impulse pack comes with an extra helment and weapon, thus for about $4.50 you could have two soldiers. Alternatively, someone with extra helmets and weapons could convert their non-castle minifigs by simply adding a breastplate. My Castle figs are all pre-Knight's-Kingdom, but I've acquired extra helms and weapons over the years, and the PAB crownie torso seems like a great opportunity to add some crownies to the mix. How have you utilized PAB online for your castle armies? Edited October 6, 2008 by Eilif Quote
Skipper 24 Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 That's pretty cool I didn't know PAB online had so many bricks. You can also by whole skeletons with the old face and the see crossbows too. Quote
Eilif Posted October 6, 2008 Author Posted October 6, 2008 You can also by whole skeletons with the old face That's a great suggestion! A complete skelleton only costs $0.61 USD, or $0.78 if you get it with a crossbow. I have no interest in making a skellie army, but maybe I should at least get some to scatter about the battlefield... Quote
Zorro Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 I tried it sometimes, to build an army with the "replacements parts" from The Lego Store, but I never ordered it, because the choice of (primarely)torsos is so incredibly limited. And you can't give crossbows or sticks to your entire army. Because it is so cheap, I must admit it is a great source of items, supplies and accesories, if you don't have these at least... As said so many times, I hope they expand this "store" a lot. It could become a really good source of income for TLC. Quote
eti Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 I don't make armies, but aren't there bricklink stores that have the same (or more) for less? Quote
Matteo Kenobi Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 (edited) Well I have use Pick a Brick for many things, and it is a great resource (however just finding out about bricklink in depth last night and seeing how cheap things are there, I feel pretty stupid) However Pick a Brick probobly would be a decent plave to get minifigs in large quantitiys where bricklink I would imagine be better for like 10-20 EDIT: Just did some calculations, Head, Castle Torso, Crossbow, and Legs, or in other words a full minifig without the helmet is about $1, 20 of each of those things is came to the price of $21.80. So it could be a valid resource if you bought 20 helmets and arrow bag things it would be gerat. Edited October 6, 2008 by Matteo Kenobi Quote

For alot of parts, BL is cheaper, but for most minifig parts, the PAB prices are cheaper. I only use PAB for minifig parts, and for certain parts that are rarer and more expensive on Bricklink. ...(however just finding out about bricklink in depth last night and seeing how cheap things are there, I feel pretty stupid) ......a full minifig without the helmet is about $1, 20 of each of those things is came to the price of $21.80. I have about 10 extra helmets at home and plenty of extra spears. For $9.20 USD, invested at PAB, I can get 10 more soldiers! Quote
VBBN Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 Come to think of it, no. I will need to do that. Hopefully they add trolls soon. I also need brown and dark blue parts to MOC with as well. Quote
Lt. Col. Thok Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 Done and done! I am in the process of bulking up my police force with parts from PAB, and will start to build up my crownie army after Christmas (or, to be more precise, when I get the medieval village) Quote
Lego12 Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 No, I don't becasue it never occurred to me that you could build armies on there! I might go checl that out.... Quote

Lucky, for me when it comes to minifigure headgear my supplies are pretty depleted, however the average bricklink prices for helmets is about $0.60 so this really is great! Quote

Wow, that's pretty expensive for a helmet, but if you already had extra spears, you could still get a PAB crownie for $.92, a helmet for $.062, and you'd still be at less per figure than buying PAB crownies and impulse sets.
