December 21, 200816 yr However, I still think that you should add a hedge maze, which would really fill up that excess space. Maybe just a little one, though, so it's not too crowded, perhaps in a corner. I think the only way I'll include a hedge maze is if I build it on a separate baseplate, because a 10 stud hedge maze would just look goofy. "Honey look! I made it all the way through the maze!" "Good work, but there was only one turn!" Thanks for the feedback guys, and thanks a lot Thrash for taking care of the thumbnails.
December 21, 200816 yr Assuming you mean the back wall that's on every module, no, it's not really necessary. Just make sure that you leave room so that a wall piece could be added. Jim, As Thrash said, The wall isn't required if you cant make it, unfortunately mine needs the wall as it integral to the whole structure. The smaller modules are ok without it (though we all know it would look sweet to have the wall as well ) Alright, thanks you two. I'll see if I have enough to at least make the hallway. I think the only way I'll include a hedge maze is if I build it on a separate baseplate, because a 10 stud hedge maze would just look goofy. "Honey look! I made it all the way through the maze!" "Good work, but there was only one turn!" I guess so. Well, it was just an idea, but good work anyways.
December 21, 200816 yr As I mentioned earlier, Stol and I got together to do a church module. You can check out more pictures at the Alpha thread now! thanks a lot Thrash for taking care of the thumbnails. Codes all updated Thanks again Thrash Now, I must say I didn't want to post pics of my Barracks, however due to all the good work going on around here, I felt compelled to. I will edit the pics into this post shortly. No problem! I'm excited to see more pictures of your barracks. What you've showed already looked like a great start, so I'm sure that the finished product will be even better! Jimbutcher, I'm also excited to see pictures of whatever module you've got planned. ~Thrash
December 21, 200816 yr Author I know I promised a WIP pic, but I have just about finished it and didn't want to ruin the surprise as it is one of only a few big modules built so far I basically just need to place the figs when I get home tonight and snap some pics. I had to make a little concession to running out of light grey, but all in all im pretty happy with how it has turned out. I will have a look at Stol's creation now while I remember.
December 21, 200816 yr Glad you like them. Yours look really cool combined too. I like the idea of a minotaur to guard the tax collector! Also, I love that centaur that you've made. Can you post some closer shots of the centaur so I can see how it's done?I'm sure you'll do a fantastic job with the Chapel. I think Stol is going to take a stab at the chapel/monastary this weekend too, so that should provide some good competition! Here you go Thrash, closer pics of the Centaur. It's based off the work of Hound Knight over at Classic-Castle.com. Originally, I just took the horse's head of intact, but it left a big gap that made it look like something was missing. I ended up cutting up the horse's head to fill in the gap. I was just finishing up my Chapel, when I noticed you posted your Church. Nice work to the both of you. You must an endless supply of bricks. I'll have mine posted in the Team Beta thread shortly.
December 22, 200816 yr Alright, I've finished the courtyard or garden (whatever it is )!I haven't made a thumbnail yet, because I wasn't sure whether Thrash was doing that for all of the modules or just his. I dont's think I have the correct font in my photo editing program though... Let me know how to proceed! I didn't end up adding much to the WIP picture I posted a while back, but I did add minifigs and a few more flowers. I may still make some sort of a hedge maze if everyone wants me to. Enjoy! More pictures on Flickr, and the Alpha Team page. Great job on the fountain!
December 22, 200816 yr I've just posted my wine cellar in the Alpha team thread, here's a teaser: I also really like your chapels stained glass windows, darkagent.
December 22, 200816 yr Author Here is my Barracks module for you to have a look at More pics in the Beta Thread Cheers ISC :skull:
December 22, 200816 yr Great job! I love the upper piece in yellow! It'll fit perfectly with the other houses! I'll try the Entrancehall with staircase this evening (it's the one between the ground & first floor I suppose?)

I'll have mine posted in the Team Beta thread shortly. Thanks for those close-ups of the centaur! Over the years I've tried to make centaurs, but none have ever turned out that good. Maybe sometime over the holidays I'll bring myself to part with a horse in order to get a centaur. Also, it was a great idea to make that your avatar! Thanks, you did a great job too! I think that what we should do is just consider the Church and the Chapel to be two completely different modules and give each one a spot. It would seem odd to have the community vote on having a giant church or a small chapel, so there's no reason both can't be in the EBCCB! I'll try the Entrancehall with staircase this evening (it's the one between the ground & first floor I suppose?) Sounds good. Yea, the staircase that I was referring to when I added that to the list was a staircase that runs from the ground floor to the first floor. As long as it's a staircase that goes from the ground to the first floor, you can do whatever you want with it! ISC, here's the latest thumbnail codes to add to the existing ones: Yours: Darkagents: Jimbutchers: ~Thrash
December 22, 200816 yr Author Thanks Thrash and castlestrike! I can't wait for the staircase. Just one question though, did we ever decide how high each floor of the keep would be? 6 bricks high? I will have to look at Sandy's modules for reference, as it wouldn't be any good having a staircase 12 high if all the other levels are 6. Cheers for the thumbnails too Thrash.

I'm not sure, but I think that Sandy's were 7 bricks high. Since people have done almost all of the outer wall modules and the focus will soon be shifting to the keep, perhaps we should work on refining the standards for the keep modules. For example, just as we have a standard outer wall, perhaps we could have a standard hallway that will be attached to each module. I'll be happy to draw up on standards on Ldraw, but first I think that the community needs to decide on what sorts of things we want to standardize. In the mean time, you guys can enjoy my Barbershop! More pictures can be found over in the Beta Thread. ISC, here's the thumbnail code to add to mine: ~Thrash
December 23, 200816 yr Thanks for the compliments on the Chapel guys. I actually wanted to make the stained glass window larger (wall side), but decided I had to make it smaller since this was an outside wall. It'd be way to easy to infiltrate the castle. Thrash and Stol, I love the church, especially the crypt with the secret treasure. ISC, that Barracks looks great. I really like the design and color of the building. Seeing this, makes me want to tackle one of the bigger buildings. It's too bad I don't have enough bricks. Thrash, thanks for making the thumbnails.
December 23, 200816 yr One quick question, when I build the kitchen module, should I build the outer hallway as well, and if so, how should I go about doing it (size, method of attachment, etc.)?
December 23, 200816 yr Author I have some ideas for the hallway that I will present soon, then maybe we will have a vote for the best. The entrance hall should also be 16x16? Or a 32x32 plate?Tnx Kenny.. 32 x 32 please Kenny That will be a grand entrance hall. One quick question, when I build the kitchen module, should I build the outer hallway as well, and if so, how should I go about doing it (size, method of attachment, etc.)? I would like to see the hallway too if thats cool, see above for how we are heading with it. If you have layout ideas for the hallway feel free to post pics in this thread. Cheers ISC
December 23, 200816 yr I certainly don't mind making a hallway, but I think I'll wait and see how we decide what the standards for it will be before I make it. I think a rather plain hallway would be nice with perhaps some suits of armor, paintings or tapestries on the wall.

Yes, my rooms were 7 bricks high, but nothing prevents anybody to make them higher if you guys want to. 7 bricks is a realistic scale for minifigs, in my opinion, but it's also very slow when thinking about adding brick-built furnitures and such. Also, the halls that the keep includes should be at least twice as tall.
December 23, 200816 yr hi everyone, I'm not sure where to post this, but i'd like to join... Matn told me about this communitybuild castle, wich really captivated my interest. When i looked at the list and saw that the physician was still missing, i made one ... Where should i post images? I saw there are 2 teams, so could you assign me to one please? Or can we choose freely? anyway, thanks and greetings, Christoph doctor on my shelf
December 23, 200816 yr Welcome Stenertje Nice house you've made! The details are great! @ I Scream Clone: 32 x 32 it will be!

I assume that I Scream Clone (the leader of the EBCCB) will put you on Team Beta since right now Alpha has 17 members and Beta only has 16, but I guess you should wait for his official word on the matter. December 23, 200816 yr Hey guys. I'm thinking about doing the throne room, but I'm not quite sure what the size is. From the diagram, it looks like it should be bigger than 16x16. Also, how tall should it be?

Also, how tall should it be? That's a great choice. It should be 32x32. We're still working on all the specifications for the keep rooms, so I'm not sure about the height. Here's Sandy's basic hallway design in Ldraw form. I think this might be a good plan for the hallway: What do you guys think? ~Thrash
December 23, 200816 yr Wow, an impressive rendition! But the point of the hallway is that it fits the width of the room in question. The more important measurements are the height and depth of the rooms, so that they go together.
