ISC, I would be glad to make thumbnails, but I'm not sure how. I know how to make large picture links, so I assume you just have to resize them?

Care to enlighten me? :classic:

You have me down for the Butcher, Jeweler and courtyard right? I probably won't get them done for a few weeks though, as on Saturday I'll be leaving for vacation 1 week.

You just resize the pictures before you upload them to the internet. It looks like the thumbnails ISC are making are 160x160 (or 160xless-than-160 pixels if the pictures isn't square), so make them that size, upload them, and then do the same thing you would do to make a large picture a link. The code would be as follows:

Hope that helps. :classic:

Same as Thrash said. Another option if you are using flickr or brickshelf is to upload your pics, then save one of the thumbnails from that page display back to your computer and upload it as well, though editing a copy on the computer will probably be just as easy.

Have a good break, and I will put you down for those options too.

Just have to kick some others into action now, like Stable boy

Alright people, I have added some guidelines to the front page, if you can think of anything I may have missed, then please let me know.

On an unrelated note, I just finished sorting my entire unbuilt collection. Though there are still a few built items like my Fighting arena, DS, Town plan, SlaveI still hogging desk space :cry_happy: it never ends.

This contest is very cool, but do you know what I did?! I maked a man chopping of peoples heads...I tought that, but can I enter that insted? :oh: I f not I,m starting on "butcher" right now.

And 2 last things:  -I am new here so how do I post a picture?

Arawos,

Have you gotten pictures onto brickshelf, Flickr, Maj, or something else?

If so, get the wanted picture to where it is the only thing up, no "next" signs or car ads around, by clicking on it. Then copy the URL and go to post, there is a string of icons two icons to the right of the smiley face is the picture icon. click it, and paste the pics URL into it and click 'OK'.

for avvies, get a picture copied as above, (make sure it is small enough) and go to edit your webpage, where it says update avatar paste URL into "new avvie code" (or something like that) and then simply scroll down list of available avvies and select picture.

On castle topic, I added an upstairs room to my armory, and slightly edited the wall so it is 12 high, not 11, pics later today

Good job with the guidelines. Hopefully that will help people new to the EBCCB have a better understanding of what is going on.

I can only think of two things to add:

1. Anyone can do any of the creations, even if someone else has already done that creation. Once all the modules have been built we will have polls to determine which module of the multiple-entry-modules will be included.

2. If you have an idea of another structure that would be good to have in the EBCCB, let us know and we can add it to the list.

The first one is just so that new members don't shy away from modules that have already been built. There seems to have been a lot of confusion about that. The second is in case we forgot something that would be really cool to have in a giant castle.

Might as well post pictures of it. If the community likes it, I'm sure we can find a way to include it in the final build. :classic:

I can't wait to see your butcher either. It seems like that's a pretty hot item, so you'll probably have some good competition!

Can't wait to see the pictures of your updated armory. You've got some stiff competition with Guss's armory!

In the Alpha thread, Guss posted the following. It addressed an important issue, so I'm bringing it up in this thread:

I thought about making some little scene that can fit in the castle, like a guard flirting with a girl under a tree , some little things, but I don't know if I Scream Clone will allow it, it's a just an idea I had to allow people without a lot of grey pieces to even makes something for the EBCCB ^^

You bring up a good point about the little scene that you want to make. Certainly, an issue that needs to be addressed eventually is what we will do for the space between the 16x16s and the keep. One option would be to divide it into 32x32 plates and let people work on individual spots, but I'm worried that would lead to the landscaping looking very strange.

Another option might be to make a committee of EBCCBers that would be willing to work closely with eachother to create the landscaping for all of the empty space in the castle. This would certainly be a large and involved project, but I think it is the better idea of the two.

What does everyone think we should do with the empty space between the outside wall modules and the keep?

ISC, with the courtyard, are there any specific guidelines I need to keep in mind besides the size? Such as, do I need to add technic pins and is there one specific thing I need to include.

Also, did you want to add my name in the first post next to the courtyard, butcher and jeweler? :classic:

As for the space in between the outer wall and keep, I definitely think some landscaping would be nice. Perhaps some chickens pecking around like in next year's medieval market place.

sounds interesting, how about making him a hermit in an abandoned building!

Future Project

Castle grounds, perhaps 4 32 x 32 plates together, obv with a common theme/connection. Maybe a path made out of certain colours.

I would like to work towards this in a little while. I think we need to focus on the task at hand then move onto that theme.

Thoughts.

Also I have put this idea in the first post too for updating down the line.

Because it is a centre of the keep, perhaps a centre piece like a fountain might be a good idea, it would also be very well structured like rose beds in a row, symmetrical seating etc.

Green obv thats not bad for a start Statues too.

Say who sells all grey minifigs/statues?

Also I have decided to rise to the challenge of the Oil smelter, eventually that is

nice and simple hermit house, but an hermit does not belong to the inside of a castle I think ^^ , is it a house to put "far in the forest around the castle " ? if that's it, that's ok ^^

at first sight we have to post our creation here too ? so here is my Armory , the image is a link to the gallery , more description in the Alpha group topic :

NOTE: This is not the layout. This is just a layout I made to illustrate a few points.

3026226278_343461f12d.jpg

In the above layout, I’ve made a few changes:

1. I’ve added in 10 and 24 as either alley ways or stairs up to the outside wall. The reason for this is to make there be 32 studs between the keep and the 16x16 modules on the back wall. Also, I thought it might be cool to have them there.

2. I’ve added 5 modules on each side of the keep. Due to all the new ideas that people are coming up with and the growing interest, I thought it would be appropriate to create some extra room. Also, the space between the keep and the outer wall seemed a bit too large on the sides, so this cuts down on the empty space.

3. I’ve divided the grounds between the keep and the outer wall modules into baseplates as best I could. Obviously, this caused me some problems due to the odd angles that some of the modules are on.

I think that points 1 and 2 are both changes that are positive and should be implemented in the final layout.

However, the division of the grounds in the base plate seems to not work very well. Not only would it add 20 or so modules to the build (this thing is already big enough!), but I don’t think it would look very good unless one person did it or a group of people worked VERY hard to make it all look connected.

Having every stud filled might also cause the whole thing to look really cramped.

I think a better way to attack all of the empty space would be to allow people to build small things that would fit in the dead space (trees, market stands, statues, etc.). That way, if we ever do manage to get this thing together, we can just take the empty space modules and position them freely between the keep and the outside wall modules whatever way looks best.

What I have in mind is stuff similar to the market stand and tree in 10193 Medieval Market Village.

What do you guys think about this?

well, I like the new look there, Thrash, although I think for the grounds we should have the baseplates as shown, but not do much detailing, only add the occasional statue/tree/market stand.

my 2 cents

I love your oil smelter, I Scream Clone...especially the guy at the top who is going to send the oil raining down on the heads of anyone who attacks below!

Nice creations, everyone! Even though I haven't posted in their thread, I'd like to say that Team Alpha is doing great (I posted in Beta's). Also, is it too late for me to join in? If not, I'd like to do 52: Servants Quarters and 53: Wine Cellar. :classic:

EDIT: Also, do I have to make the hallway with my additions? If so, is there any universal design that I have to use for it?

Welcome aboard Jim!

I have put you into Alpha group and put you down for your two choices.

As for the Hallway question, if you are going to link your two creations together, then make a hallway, otherwise it isn't necessary for each creation unless you are feeling creative :sweet:

You can always have a look at Sandy's hallway design as reference too.

Cheers

Thrash, I also think that we shouldn't fill up the empty spaces with baseplates, but with individual segments like in the market village.

That way it won't look too cramped, but will still have plenty in it.
