Toa of Void

Hey, as some of you might have known, I have posted a theory up on BZPower a few days ago about the possibility of a Toa of Vacuum (or Void as I've learned the correct term is). Now I know that not all Eurobricks members are members of bzp, just as not all bzp members are members of eurobricks, so I've posted a modified version of the original theory up on Eurobricks to get the opinion of more than just one site. Let me start off with listing arguments both for and against the possibilities for such a Toa.

FOR:

1) Many people (including Greg) say that because Toa of Air can create a vacuum it proves that a Toa of Void would be pointless. I say to those people: Toa of Fire can freeze things, doesn't make Toa of Ice pointless; Toa of Magnetism can control (to an extent) metal, doesn't make Toa of Iron pointless; Toa of Light can create darkness, doesn't make Toa of Shadow pointless (even though Shadow isn't a natural Toa Element). The list goes on and on. Also note that Void and Vacuum are completly different things: while a Vacuum is devoid of all Air, Void is devoid af all matter. So while a Toa of Air can create a Vacuum, Toa of Void can do that and much, much more.

2) Continuing with the same thought as above, even though a Toa of Fire can freeze things, doesn't mean that he has complete control over the element of Ice. Same with Air and Void, though Air's powers overlap slightly with Void does not mean that Toa of Air can do everything that a Toa of Void could do.

3) It would allow the possibility of a Toa team to consist entirely of Kal elements and therefore be awesome

AGAINST:

1) What exactly would happen if a Toa of Void went Nova? Suck up all of the air in the dome? A Toa of Air could do the same thing.

Answer: It is likely that a huge vacuum would be created, pushing all of the air away in a powerful blast, and the Air then rushing back with hurricane force winds.

2) How exactly would a Toa of Void absorb Void, which is basicly empty space?

Answer: A Toa of Void could absorb a Void and cause a powerful implosion (or just lose concentration and let the void implode itself without absorbing it; though it would'nt be as powerful or as fast.)

3) A Toa of Air can do everything that a Toa of Void could do.

Answer: Not necessarily. A Toa of Void could:

-be able to create and control suction (and, to an extent, pressure)

-shoot blasts of void

-create a sort of ''shield'' to protect him/herself from elemental attacks (specifically Air, Fire, and Sonics)

-create explosions by making a void inside of something (a boulder for example).

-create silence (with no matter, there can't be sound).

Most of these things Toa of Air would have great difficulty doing.

Also, Greg has said that Toa of Fire can do anything that a Toa of Plasma can do, yet we still have Toa of Plasma in official storyline.

That's all I have for now. Post your opinions, suggestions, and arguments for either side of the debate here.

First off, in European Lore there are 4 elements: Air Earth, Fire and Water(interesting how pairing the opposites gets them in alphabetical order). In Asia(mostly China) there are 5 elements: "Earth, Fire, Metal, Water, and Wood", where Air/Void is a force of nature that transcend the elements. If one goes further into the Euro-style there are also 4 pseudo-elements of: Negative, Positive, Radiance and Shadow plus multiple combinations of any 2 or more base and/or pseudo elements know as Para-elements and Pseudo-paraelements, in which Vacuum would be Air + Negative, just as Air + Water + Negative + Radiance = Ice.

If anything they should change either: Brown = Wood or Black = Metal before they start going that route. Because Earth and Stone are same exact thing. Unless by Stone they're refering to precious Gems, which is Earth + Radiance. In which case they definately need to change the color for it, and should mostly be translucent ones.

But then again, you probably already knew that.

Personally, I think a Toa of Void would be a great idea. Mostly because I think there need to be a lot more elements than there currently are. Void seems to fit in, like you said, similarly to a Toa of Magnetics and Iron. Void would be able to push things out of an area (mostly air, but I think with enough elemental energy usage other things as well, depending on inertness and density), or possibly absorb things for a period of time before releasing them in a blast (again, mostly just air, but with more EE could absorb more, depending on inertness and density).

Yes, I already knew that. But it doesn't even matter, we're talking about the Matoran Universe here, not European Lore.

Also, ''Wood'' and ''Metal'' are already elements: The Green and Iron. The Green's colours have also already been revealed: Blue and Green; like plants. Here's the proof if you need it.

But, however, could a Toa be a Toa of nothing? That's what a vacuum is, nothing. Toa are of the elements, right? Vacuum isn't an element. It's simply nothing. Nada.

If it were a power, it'd be a Makuta power, it seems to me.

It isn't necesarrily an actual element that is considered an element on earth (if they were, we'd have Toa of Mercury, Sulfur, Helium, etc. instead of Toa of Fire, Water, Gravity, etc.), but a fundemental part of the Universe. I mean, Void is everywhere, Space being a prime example...

But it's not so much part of the universe that the parts of the universe are interspersed through it.

And a Toa of Mercury, Sulfur, etc... I don't know a whole lot of Bionicle lore, but that'd be a bit too much... ah, I forget the word. Categorizing. I think it'd fall under the Toa of Earth... but a Toa of Mercury would be cool, though.

Yeah, I've always wanted new elements. THe Borohk Kal had new elements. Levahk had Vacumm powers.

I'd say it's a possibility, but I doubt we will ever get Toa again for a while as we are no longer in the matoran Universe.

Ah, but remember, there will be a story serial focusing on the Matoran Universe, allowing Greg to introduce new Elements, Masks, Islands, etc.
