JopieK Posted October 12, 2008 Posted October 12, 2008 It is not really a minifig, but a plane for minifigs (this seems to be the most appropriate forum). I have been asked to reproduce this stickersheet: The left side and the tail is no problem but, the arabic after emirates at the top is. Can anyone give some tips on how to type these characters (and maybe the transliteration in latin characters?!). Thanks in advance. Quote
Axle Posted October 13, 2008 Posted October 13, 2008 I dunno... How helpful. Susm. But I searched for a font pack and here is one: http://www.wazu.jp/gallery/Fonts_Arabic.html I hope this helps. Quote

Well, it seems that Mac already has Arabic built in and I used the SIL Arabic font (www.sil.org). But the problem is with the Emirates word. It is on the planes, that is for sure (if I take a look in google or at their website). But I can't select it somewhere I'm afraid. Quote
Siegfried Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 I dunno... Please don't do this again. Quote
oo7 Posted October 15, 2008 Posted October 15, 2008 Wikipedia gives the Arabic name of the Emirates Airline as: الإمارات Looks pretty close to what you're looking for. Quote
SlyOwl Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 It may be worth noting that the symbol on the left is just a pictogram version of the wiriting; the :) (rotated) with the 1|) goes on the bottom, the |_. in the middle and the d| on the top. Quote
oo7 Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 Interesting. So in other words it's something like this? الإ ما رات Quote
JopieK Posted October 21, 2008 Author Posted October 21, 2008 Well, I'll try that! I think I'm going to try it and get a vectorized version of the logo. Quote
JopieK Posted October 24, 2008 Author Posted October 24, 2008 I have recreated the whole thing in Illustrator, so if there are people that want them just send a pm. Quote
Barbaros Posted November 5, 2008 Posted November 5, 2008 (edited) I know Arabic well... The Arabic script says Al-Emirate, which is an abriviation for the United Arab Emirates. By the way the name Emirate in Arabic means a state, while Emirates would then mean a group of states. Plus the style in which the letters were drawn seems to be similar to that of the Emirates Airways... Hope that helped! Here's the text in Arabic: الامارات Here's also the actual logo from wikipedia: Edited November 5, 2008 by Barbaros Quote
