badboytje88 Posted October 26, 2008 Posted October 26, 2008 I love your figs! I love lego harry potter too, it's the theme which got me out of my dark age, which lasted 1 year He're a link to my Harry Potter figs. http://www.flickr.com/photos/badboytje88/s...57607529936378/ Quote
Wout Posted October 27, 2008 Posted October 27, 2008 Very nice Sandy! Like you cast of teachers. I still made also some extra characters but not so much. @Badboytje: Love your dancing troll. Was he from the painting on the opposite of the entrance of the room of Requirement? @ Aredhel: Nice Halloweened Avatar, But it is a mistake, he comes only for rats. Quote
Omega 8 Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 (edited) Most Impressive! I am an unabashed HP fan, and massively envious of your collection! Thanks for sharing! Edited October 30, 2008 by Omega 8 Quote
Zarkan Posted November 5, 2008 Posted November 5, 2008 What an awesome collection! Despite being a fan of the books, I don't actually own any of the kits (although I have a few pieces from them), but I must admit that it was a great theme that was very true to the creative world of Harry Potter. I also think your minifig customs are stunning, especially considering they are made mostly with official pieces. I can't wait to see reviews - Eurobricks never has had that many in-depth looks at the line. Quote
Omega 8 Posted November 5, 2008 Posted November 5, 2008 (edited) I just broke out my OOTF Hogwarts 3 last night because of your post. I'm going to get the rest of my HP sets out and set up a little HP love fest in the next couple of days! Thanks so much for "stoking the fires" Edited November 5, 2008 by Omega 8 Quote
gladiator Posted November 9, 2008 Posted November 9, 2008 Hiks, I really miss these Harry Potter series... Your collections, Sandy... very impressive and meaningful. Perhaps, I will collect again, maybe starting with the Harry Potter character minifigs only. Quote
Matn Posted November 12, 2008 Posted November 12, 2008 That's a very nice collection you've got there! I can't say I am not jealous when I see those pictures. I also like your version of Neville, everything I like here. Planning to also buy the newest Hogwarts? And may I ask the link of that Finnish Harry Potter website? Quote
Algernon Posted November 12, 2008 Posted November 12, 2008 I only got a few HP sets, but I miss them. Quote
Norrington Posted November 13, 2008 Posted November 13, 2008 Nice collection Sandy! I am envious of these, and I don't do much Harry Potter. At first I thought it was going to be some sort of ditty or poem Quote

Yes, I'm planning to buy the newest Hogwarts as well, but I probably can't afford it in a few months... The link to the website is here. Though I doubt you'll understand any of it, unless you can speak Finnish. Quote
piratecastle Posted November 18, 2008 Posted November 18, 2008 No GOF sets? I'd get the Merpeople set cause it's so cheap. It doesn't really go with the castle but it comes with Krum and Harry in another form, as well as Hermione and Ron and a rare Merperson. It also comes with ruins and some mythical beasts. Quote

I'd love to get the Goblet of Fire sets, but they're really not that cheap on Ebay yet, and there are shops in Finland that sell old LEGO sets that I know of. But maybe in the near future... Quote

Sandy Posted November 23, 2008 Author Posted November 23, 2008 Cool. How's the Knight Bus? Thinking of getting it but I dunno. It's great for all the rare dark purple pieces that comes with it, and quite inexpensive for that as well. Quote

I Scream Clone Posted November 27, 2008 Posted November 27, 2008 Very impressive Sandy! Looks like you have made a few extra characters that look just great. Now I know where most of your castle parts came from Quote
natelite Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 only HP set i got was the last hogwart castle. which is a pity....coz i came out of my dark ages in mar 2006. i could have gotten the small buckbeak set from the "five and below" chain shops but didn't. look what it's selling for in BL right now! Quote
Svelte Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 You can still get a lot of sets reasonably off ebay in Aus. I was still coming out of my dark ages in 2004 so only picked up half the Azkaban sets, a gap which I've been filling in recently. For example, I got a MISB Knight Bus for $67 (inc postage) and MISB Snape's Classroom for $44 (inc postage) which isn't too bad considering they originally retailed here for $60 and $40 respectively. Considering the sets are almost 5 years old I don't think the increase is bad at all! Some sets are more expensive, obviously, but it pays to shop around. One thing you do notice about opening up these a few years later is the instantly noticeably better parts quality in the older sets! Those were the days Quote
Sandy Posted December 4, 2008 Author Posted December 4, 2008 Thanks guys for sharing your experience with the HP-sets! I'm proud to announce that after a week of building almost every night, I have finished my version of the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. My aim was to make it playable and accessible rather than realistic, so it isn't the most aesthetically pleasing castle ever created, but it sure has a lot of rooms! I also struggled with my limited amount of bricks, so the castle is a mixture of tan and all shades of grey. But I will post pictures of it once I've done some furnishing, so you have something to look forward to! Quote
