the answer is : YES!

after many attempts of shapes and things it looks like this :

dam!!! forgot the yellow tile 1 x 2 in the bottom front =((( so shame

I first thought that the cylinder at the back was a bomb and I was wondering if you had some sort of Astin Martin - now I see it is the steering wheel. Great job.

Really impressive car Shimon. Nice job! I'm most intrigued by the way you created the steering mechanism. Does the steering wheel actually turn the front wheels or is the 2x2 round brick in the back somehow attached? Pretty clever design, in either case.

well i forgot to put the final part 1 x 2 yellow tile in the front bumper ...

i think it was possible to make it turn from the small steering wheel but i had enough head ache to make it with the 2 x 2 round

Did you cut a 4L lightsabre blade in half in order to do this?

Just for inspiration.

Here is how LEGO did it back in 1994:

(remove the outer wheels and it is 8 wide)

well i dont have sets that are under 2003...

and i need it to be in a closed car

instead of my rack i can use a 1 x 6 rack but i dont have it .

and if ill use that steering arm i cant make any side guards for it cuz the wheel is 3 studs wide and the stud will pop out of the wheel .....

dude i tried many things and this is eventually what u get if u want to make it :

1 look good (no technic parts popping out

2 functionality (make it work and still look like a normal car

and instead of cutting the 4l bar u can use a flexible hose which i dont have ...

Wow, that's a very beautiful car you made!

I especcialy like the front and the inside that has a computer-like brick: a GPS?

The steering mechanism looks good as well, it was a wise decision to inlude a pic of the stripped front to let us see this  .

I hope you build an entire carpark of these.

Taking the restricted amount of parts into consideration, it is quite nice to see you add steering to an excellently looking car. Good job there.

I am not completely sure what you mean with studs popping out of wheels when using the other steering arm, because the sideways play will be the same. It is a shame the 6 wide rack went out of production, but you can also use liftarms like in modern Technic models, although that will demand more height.

LEGO uses the same steering arm as you in their Creator models (like 4896), but I can't see how it is better than 32068.1073526418.jpg, which doesn't make the car move to the sides when steering without driving. I guess it looks cool, but is also lees realistic. Do you know of any other advantages?

It is cool to see that people still like their models steering, and not just cheating box art like this:

Do you think it's possible to make a 6 wide car steer? (using the same size of wheels of course)

here ill explain you what i mean when i say pop out :

steeringproblem1qd9.png

and the other reason is that when you use the 4896 steering part (yea my car moves a little ) its easier to make side guards

yea there are many simple and genious techniques like to use a bracket 1 x 1 for a cheese slope and a light i like it

wow on the 4939 its looks like the car is steering ! but its not...

i made this car as a side project i have my main one and its in small progress

and about the 6 wide i dont think that these wheels will do it they are too big lego did a good thing using the mudguards .

as i said i tried all the possible ways and thats eventually what u get .. something like this
