Sandy Posted October 22, 2008 Posted October 22, 2008 The pictures of my precious Wizard's Tower are here! Honestly, I think it's the most beautiful thing I've made with LEGO yet. Hope you don't drop me off my high horse too hard... Notice: I couldn't post direct links, so everything is in pictures! My apologizies! Anyway, let me give you a tour. First, this is a front view of the whole structure: The back (with a hallway facing the courtyard) and the sides: And here are all the different modules included in the structure: the tower itself, the hallway, the entrance and the top room: First, here's the hallway from up close (with a secret passage behind a torn painting leading to the tower): Detachable roof(allows more modules to be put on top of the hallway): The hallway module also attaches nicely to the Princess' Chamber I made: Then on to the tower module: At the bottom, there's an enchanted statue of a lady guarding the winding staircase, asking trespassers riddles: The staircase goes up inside the tower: The tower's layout from above: The potion shelf hides a secret: a powerful magic wand! I didn't forget that telescope someone requested: There's a separate entrance to the wizard's office on the balcony, but it's only reachable by magic, of course: The crown of the tower is of course the wizard's office located at the top: Inside, there's a desk with many shady things on it. The hatch to the staircase lies under the crystal ball. Here's the entire top part up close from the front and the back: And now onto the modular goodness! The best part of this tower is that it is meant to be attached to the castle keep, easily being a landmark to the entire EB Modular Castle Town: You can see here how the hallways work in several floors: And of course it matches perfectly with the little tower in the chamber, giving the outer wall a finished look: Okay, I hope you enjoyed this tour, and that it left you craving for more! Naturally, all suggestions and comments are taken with pleasure! Quote
metalandi Posted October 22, 2008 Posted October 22, 2008 Wow sandy, this is really stunning. First i was a bit afraid of the harry potterish looking roofs in your raw layout you showed a couple days ago ( ), but this is really amazing. it reminds me of old copper roofs that have goon to green. Quote
Guss Posted October 22, 2008 Posted October 22, 2008 Oo sandy , that is... amazing ! very very nicely done ! Quote
Thrash Posted October 22, 2008 Posted October 22, 2008 That's awesome Sandy. It's a small detail, but my favorite part is the mini-Jabba the hut. Looking over your pictures, specifically the one with the stacked hallways, makes me realize that we need staircases to get from floor to floor somewhere in the keep... Are you still working on a list of room that could go in the keep so that I can make up a more detailed plan for the keep's various floors? ~Thrash Quote

I was actually thinking about creating a staircase module for the castle next. And yes, I've been giving the rooms a thought. I'm thinking that the castle could be two floors high on the other wing and three on the middle part and the other wing. But anyway, I posted what was thinking for the castle to the main thread. I Scream Clone Posted October 22, 2008 Author Posted October 22, 2008 Sandy, that is simply breathtaking! Capt Green Hair was right, Go Team Beta, best team ever (well there is only two so far ) Im most impressed with the majesty of the tower, Rotta looks perfect, the telescope is great. the moving bookcase with wand is great. The modular aspect works perfectly. Good to see a nice hallway, staircase etc. Well Done! This is exactly why I wanted to do the Community build, as I feel it can bring out the best in our talented builders Quote
Quarryman Posted October 22, 2008 Posted October 22, 2008 Sandy, I have to agree with you, that is the most beautiful thing you've built with LEGO so far. At least the best one you showed us. Guess the only potential criticism would be the high number of <insert that tiresome argument> pieces, but you've put them to such good use that they add to the overall impression instead of detract from it. Well done! Quote
Dragonator Posted October 23, 2008 Posted October 23, 2008 Capt Green Hair was right, Go Team Beta, best team ever (well there is only two so far ) We'll have to see about that, my team has some great stuff on the boards, we'll whip your team! That said, I probably can't start building for a few weeks any way, lucky this is a long term project. I've got some great ideas, you'll see once it's done. Quote

Well done! Thanksies! But honestly, if I would've built that tower out of bricks only rather than bigger pieces, I'd have no grey bricks left for other things. And <insert that tiresome argument> as they may be, the pieces are still authentic LEGO. Now, I'll have to take a few day's break from building as we're leaving to a cruise, and on Sunday it's the city council election day, and I'm a candidate, so keep your thumbs up for me! But I'll return next week with more LEGOtasticness! Edited October 23, 2008 by Sandy Quote
Thrash Posted November 3, 2008 Posted November 3, 2008 This weekend I finally got around to doing some building and picture taking for the Community Build, so here's what I came up with: First, an overall shot of the Alchemist: With closed doors: The inside: The inside again: And again: From the top: Cool shot: The alchemist himself. I used the half metal face to make it look like he managed to turn half his face into silver, since alchemists jobs were to make things into gold and silver: And now for an updated version of my blacksmith: Front View: The shop: The shop again: Upstairs: Upstairs again: Blacksmith and his dwarf wife: I hope you guys like them! Comments and suggestions are welcome! Alchemist on brickshelf Blacksmith on brickshelf ~Thrash Quote
I Scream Clone Posted November 4, 2008 Author Posted November 4, 2008 Insane! I love the alchemist module so creative, and thats what this is all about. I love how you made the castle wall fit around it and detached it for the photo's too. The false ceiling with bat, gold bars and piping look fantastic. Great moody photography too. Alright, I hope to get to work on my fighting arena in the next day or so. Quote
WhiteFang Posted November 4, 2008 Posted November 4, 2008 I agreed with ISC. Its simply amazing! You capture the visual aspects of an alchemist's feature and structure very well. In fact, its full of creativness. There is not much of this designs to search from to provide inspirations. The color scheme looks well, even though it remind me of the dark side or its supposed to be related to the dark side. Quote
Thrash Posted November 4, 2008 Posted November 4, 2008 Thanks for the comments guys! I managed to get a little more building in last night, so I attempted to make a Thieves Guild. At first I was going to make it be an abandoned warehouse type thing, but I started working on it and it really wasn't up to par. Then I noticed that it was really close to the docks, so I decided to make the bottom part be a fish market that's really just a front for the Thieves Guild, and then have the Thieves Guild upstairs. Here's what I came up with: Overall: Closeup of the shop. I was really pleased with the way the fish on ice came out. To make it, I put shiny crystals at the bottom and then covered them with light blue gems: The shop again: Without the minifig: Archer in the upstairs window (look closely!): Thieves Guild upstairs: Another angle: Cool lighting: No minifigs: Different angle no minifigs (I have to give the Giant Castle Chess Set credit for the throne design): Everything taken apart: The characters. First the Thief disguised as a fishmonger, then the archer guard, and lastly the Chief Thief: Thanks for looking! Thieves Guild Brickshelf ~Thrash Quote
Guss Posted November 4, 2008 Posted November 4, 2008 well, I think we re going to let thrash build the castle alone XDDDD seriously the parts you did are really wonderful , all I can say is Greaat job ! Quote
I Scream Clone Posted November 5, 2008 Author Posted November 5, 2008 You've done it again Thrash! Well done, now get some Uni work done The fish market is simply awesome (man I seem to use that word a lot lately) the ice in the bucket, the fishmonger, the netting, some fresh water sharks The darkness pervading the thieves guild is nice, as are the details and characters, very shifty. Bravo. Quote
Sandy Posted November 5, 2008 Posted November 5, 2008 I really love all your buildings, Trash! And I don't mind the fantasy elements in some of them one bit! The only building that doesn't quite fit in the Middle Ages is the marble mason - I don't think they used white marble much in that period anymore. But there's nothing wrong with the building itself. I love the Mad Alchemist the most, it really captures the feeling it's supposed to. The Thieve's Guild is very nice as well, although I'm kind of missing a way to get upstairs (maybe just a ladder leading to a hatch or something). The dwarven Smithy is cool, and I giggled at the foppish Mrs. Dwarf - I hope she has something more decent to put on when she goes out. Now, I'd like to see what the other team members have created. So get building! *whip crack* Quote

But there's nothing wrong with the building itself. Just to clear things up as a lot of people have been making this mistake. I created the Mason not Thrash. We just posted them all together. But the reason I chose marble was because although its true it was not used as much for actual building. It was still highly used in statue's and art pieces. Quote
I Scream Clone Posted November 6, 2008 Author Posted November 6, 2008 (edited) Righto, here is my Fighting Arena. With a whopping 10 minifigures, this scene has plenty of action. Watch as the two brave knights battle it out with state of the art weaponry straight from Thrash's blacksmith (Brickarms ) Their squires watch on, and its not hard to tell which squire belongs to which knight. The crowd gathers to watch, The wiard and Jester have a little wager. The knight isn't to worried as he munches on a banana. There is even some wildlife under the stands. I decided to put some slit windows in to let some light in on the action, doesn't mean we all have to do it, just wanted to try something. metalandi Posted November 6, 2008 Posted November 6, 2008 That's beautiful ISC, where did you get those cool weapons from? Quote
WhiteFang Posted November 6, 2008 Posted November 6, 2008 I like the fighting arena. Its so cool, similar to those Thai Boxing arena. You have done a great job and I like the overall atmosphere. That's beautiful ISC, where did you get those cool weapons from? I believe he got it from Brickforge.com. Quote
Guss Posted November 6, 2008 Posted November 6, 2008 that's a really nice module you did ISC, I love the scared audience and what is the woman on the wall doing ? flirting with the guard ? ^^ Quote
Thrash Posted November 6, 2008 Posted November 6, 2008 That fighting arena is perfect. That's all there is to really say about it. I love how you have a little boy to help out each knight and especially how you have one of the knights on the ground with a bloody hand and his weapon on the floor. I think that for my next one I'm going to try to do the adventurers guild or the tax collector. What do you think you'll be doing next, ISC? Go team Beta! ~Thrash Quote
Stol Posted November 6, 2008 Posted November 6, 2008 (edited) Your fighting arena is amazing. I love the detail of the battle. I cant wait to see what everyone else is coming up with. This is turning out awesome!!! Edited November 6, 2008 by Stol Quote
Thrash Posted November 8, 2008 Posted November 8, 2008 (edited) I had some free time today, so I decided to try the Jester's Joke Shop. For this MOC, I drew a great deal of inspiration from Dan Church's wonderful Jester's Quarters Vignette. Overall: Jester Juggling: The man was surprised by the Jack-in-the-box: On the left is a box of juggling pins. For the roof design, I give credit to ISC and his fighting arena posted earlier in this thread. Closeup of the Jester and the guy who's afraid of the Jack-in-the-box: I hope you guys like it! Suggestions and comments are appreciated. Jester's Joke Shop Brickshelf ~Thrash Edited November 9, 2008 by Thrash Quote
