I Scream Clone Posted December 22, 2008 Author Posted December 22, 2008 In another shameless double post! I present my Barracks Module. I had a tonne of fun building this Barracks and it really sprung to life right in front of me. Every detail was fun. It got to the stage where I just had to stop or it wouldn't get finished. I think I managed to overcome the lack of light bley nicely in the corner too. But hey you be the judge I have decided to post a couple of extra pics for larger modules, say 8. HA new rule, take that! And of course there are more here when moderated, I hope you all like it Here's the thumb too Thrash, if you can weave your magic font wise Quote
Guss Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 ARGGG Isc! your module is amazing! really... really great! the little chapel is cool too^^ and thrash tanners is what it's supposed to be ! really cool^^ Quote
Buttons Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 I have finaly got round to building module ideas and bits and bobs like that. I think the best approach for me is to have a build and then assign the MOC I have just made to a module choice. How does that sound? Quote
Thrash Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 Well guys, it's been a busy weekend. Here's my Chapel. Fantastic work. I'm impressed that you managed to fit everything in such a small space. When Stol and I did ours, we thought there was no way anyone could do a chapel so small, but you proved us wrong! The best parts are the Harry Potter banners and the stained glass windows! That barracks is really incredible. The color scene, all of the details, everythings perfect! If I had to point out the BEST detail, I would say that it's the diagonal stairs. Good rule! That seems fair for a bigger build to get more pictures... Thanks, I'll post all of the latest thumbnail codes in the discussion thread shortly. and thrash tanners is what it's supposed to be ! really cool^^ Thanks! How does that sound? I'm not sure exactly what you mean, but if the final result is a module with a proper back wall on the correct size base plate, then it doesn't really matter what technique you used to arrive at that result, so whatever you want to do should be fine! ~Thrash Quote
Erdbeereis Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 Wow ISC, that's a beautiful model! So many great details and action, I love it! Quote
Buttons Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 (edited) Trash, this is what I ment: My problem is I can't decide what module to turn my WIP into. I would be very pleased if someone would help me with my choice and any other pointers you may have. Thanks Buttons Edited December 22, 2008 by Buttons Quote
I Scream Clone Posted December 22, 2008 Author Posted December 22, 2008 Buttons, its a bit hard for us to tell you what to create when you are already half way there. Though you may want to try Physician or Bakery etc. See how you go, but consider adding some colours to lift the whole thing. Cheers Quote
Thrash Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 I've been meaning to do this one for a while but couldn't quite figure it out. After spending some time last night and this morning, I finally got it to work. Presenting, my Barbershop! Upstairs, the barber, let's call him, oh, I don't know...Sweeney Todd, cuts people's hair...and their necks: Then, he hits the little lever on the chair, the floor drops out, and the chair tilts back...: They slide off...: And land in the fire downstairs...: Where they get turned into meat-pies!: Mrs. Lovett, Sweeney Todd, and Borat (er...whatever he was called in the movie): Sorry I went over the picture limit, I just had to get that action shot of the murder in! Also, sorry I made another disgusting entry! I promise my next one will be full of happy things like sunshine, rainbows, and bunny rabbits. Hope you guys liked the Barbershop! JimBee Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 Very nice work, ISC and Thrash! ISC, what I really like about yours is that the top level can come off, and there's that little hole in the top level that allows the figs to get to the staircase. Thrash, I really like your barber shop, and the Sweeny Todd parody. Nice addition of the blood and bandages (red and white) sign. Quote
darkagent Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 Fantastic work. I'm impressed that you managed to fit everything in such a small space. When Stol and I did ours, we thought there was no way anyone could do a chapel so small, but you proved us wrong! The best parts are the Harry Potter banners and the stained glass windows! Thanks Thrash. Yeah, 16x16 is a challenge. I had to take out a lot of stuff to make it work. The walls looked kind of plain and I had the Harry Potter banners laying around. Thrash, good job on the Barbershop. Yet another truly disturbing building. Makes me think twice about going to a barbershop that also sells Meat Pies. Quote
Erdbeereis Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 Great work as usual Thrash! A very funny, and well-detailed module. I especially love the chair tilting function and the pie maker underneath. I think we should start calling you "The Module King!" Quote
Brickthing Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 Wow Trash, your modules just keep getting gruesomer and gruesomer. I love the details in the barbershop building though, and the tilting chair is great, even if it's purpose is mis-directed. ISC, the barracks look wonderful! Is the soldier that's holding a banana a reference to Monty Python though? Quote
I Scream Clone Posted December 23, 2008 Author Posted December 23, 2008 (edited) Thrash that is a sweet barbershop/pie shop, I love the tilting chair mechanism too. I think Strawberry is right, you deserve a title like 'Single handed community builder' Or 'I AM the team' LOL Im glad he is in Beta 3D, as for the banana, there was no reference to Monty Python, as I have only seen a few of their movies and struggle to remember the details etc. I just thought he would look annoyed as the only thing on the menu was bananas and soup. The same reason I put the scared face knight at the back of the line for dinner. Edited December 23, 2008 by I Scream Clone Quote
Sandy Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 Ah, so many gorgeous modules in our common town! I like the chapel very much (kudos for the HP banners), and having Sweeney Todd and Mrs. Lovett appear in our town is excellent! There aren't that many houses I'd like to visit in person, though - especially among those built by our beloved Trash! Quote
Guss Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 I have to complain! Thrash is building the castle alone! XD great barber shop thrash, I want to build too ! not enough time... damn Xmas!! Quote
Thrash Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 Thanks for all the comments guys! Erdbeereis and ISC, those are some funny ideas for titles. Over the next few days I'm not going to build anything since I'm going to be getting ready for Christmas, so that can give everyone else some time to build modules! ~Thrash Quote
Buttons Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 I have nearly finished my module. ISC could you please now put me down for the Bakery. Thanks. Thanks Buttons Quote
I Scream Clone Posted December 24, 2008 Author Posted December 24, 2008 Looks good so far Buttons, though I would take the slopes off the top of the castle wall, as no one else is using them on their wall Thanks for all the comments guys! Erdbeereis and ISC, those are some funny ideas for titles.Over the next few days I'm not going to build anything since I'm going to be getting ready for Christmas, so that can give everyone else some time to build modules! ~Thrash Yer like 2 days is giving us enough time! Reiniger Posted December 24, 2008 Posted December 24, 2008 Hey, all. Just looking - wanted to say how impressed I am with all the creativity shown in the different sections, and nice job keeping it all coherent as one project. Keep it up! Quote
Erdbeereis Posted December 24, 2008 Posted December 24, 2008 Have we decided on the standard for the modules with a hallway outside? EDIT: Aaack, I just saw the update in the main thraed. Just ignore this! Quote
stenertje Posted December 24, 2008 Posted December 24, 2008 hello fellow beta's :). Like i said in the main thread, Matn and Castlestrike666 convinced me with their excellent MOC's to give this communiy castle build a go. I'm rather pleased with the result. The physician's house. greets, Christoph Quote
Buttons Posted December 24, 2008 Posted December 24, 2008 I would take the slopes off the top of the castle wall, as no one else is using them on their wall Yeah I am goin to finalise my design first and then purchase 4 of those 45% triple slopes to go on top. Quote
Buttons Posted December 28, 2008 Posted December 28, 2008 ICS could you please also put me down for module 24. Thanks Quote
Thrash Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 After taking a nice long holiday break, I bring you my Money Changer! With the gate closed: A closeup of the Money Changer with her big chest of gold: The inside. You'll see a few items that also appeared in my Theives Guild. The Theives Guild can't have too many people bringing them valuable items, so they use the money changer as their fence: The Money Changer and her guard: I hope you guys like it! Money Changer Brickshelf ~Thrash Quote
Ricecracker Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 ...her big chest of gold..... You have one dirty mind . Nice job though, I really like the guard and the use of gates Quote
