slimninj4 Posted November 12, 2008 Posted November 12, 2008 (edited) I am going to see if I can put one of the SD on layaway at target. Then on black friday if that is the sale item I can get it and not worry about the crowds in the morning so much. Edited November 12, 2008 by slimninj4
Matteo Kenobi Posted November 12, 2008 Posted November 12, 2008 I went to Target on sunday and they must have had 20-30 ISDs stacked up on the top of the shelves. So it's safe to say there will be plenty come black friday...can't wait
Oky Posted November 12, 2008 Posted November 12, 2008 I am going to see if I can put one of the UCS on layaway at target. Then on black friday if that is the sale item I can get it and not worry about the crowds in the morning so much. Why? Are UCS sets on sale too? Do you know something that we don't? Please tell us!
slimninj4 Posted November 12, 2008 Posted November 12, 2008 Why? Are UCS sets on sale too? Do you know something that we don't? Please tell us! Sorry edited my comment. I did not mean the UCS I meant just the mini fig Star Destroyer.
Orion Posted November 14, 2008 Posted November 14, 2008 I would love to get one of those for 50 bucks. By the way, anybody know if other sets will be on sale, like tiny turbos, or City? Can you layaway stuff and still get the sale prices?
mania3 Posted November 15, 2008 Posted November 15, 2008 One of my local Targets was overstocked on the King's Castle Siege, and they were selling it for 50% off about two weeks ago. They did this until they were back down to a reasonable stock. Something tells me that's a good indicator that it won't be for sale on Black Friday. But, I could be wrong. I'm just thinking that here in the San Diego area, they'd want as many in stock as possible with only a few weeks to spare.
posades Posted November 16, 2008 Posted November 16, 2008 Well, looks like you guys were right about it being the ISD, but the price is going to be $60: Click Here for the Scanned Ad Page 8, on the left side. Too bad that's going to the be the only set on sale there.
Matteo Kenobi Posted November 16, 2008 Posted November 16, 2008 Thanks a lot posades, glad to hear some conformation! Are there any specific details on the sale itself, store openings? Or is this something depending on area?

As late as October I've seen it on store shelves everywhere, but in the past two weeks it has vanished. My son informed me that he would like the castle for Christmas, but 1 TRU, 3 Walmarts and 5 Targets later and I'm still empty-handed. Even Shop@Home has it backordered until Jan. 11. It appears that the castle is on lots of Christmas lists this year. Oh well, my son is into Star Wars LEGO too, so maybe he'll get an ISD instead.
salty tbone Posted November 16, 2008 Posted November 16, 2008 I counted 48 of the Star Destroyer sets at one of my Targets. Years ago I tried waking up early to get the Millenium Falcon for $50 on Black Friday, but I didn't wake up early enough and they were all gone. I'm just not hardcore enough for the 5 a.m. crowd.

Or is this something depending on area? No problem, looks like it's going to be a nationwide thing. It says the sale is part of the 2-day sale going on Friday and Saturday with doors opening 6am, but I wouldn't count on getting any product on Saturday (unless they intentionally hold some). It seems like my last link kind of got redirected, so here is a direct link to the jpeg: ISD!

The ISD for $59.99 at Target The Big Toy Book sales in TRU The 10/20/50 dollar off surprise sale at Lego Stores Anything else?

Yeah, you know, before this, I'd noticed they had been routinely absent from the shelves for months. I thought maybe they'd been discontinued and considered buying a couple whenever I could my hands on them in lieu of this. But, as it was, it has reappeared at my local Target stores. Haven't checked the TRU lately, though.

K-mart has a 'buy 2, get one free' promo (with the free being of course, of equal or lesser value). http://downloads.bfads.net/BFAds-Kmart-Friday-2008.pdf

Thanks! But it would be better if there was a sale like that in a store where they have a wider selection of sets than Kmart. I mean, come on, even their online selection is poor!

posades Posted November 17, 2008 Posted November 17, 2008 Hmm, Friday only for the Kmart sale. Should I risk going to Kmart on Friday and hope Target holds some ISD's for Saturday? Decisions decisions....

Are the TRU Big Toy Book sales the current sale prices (like the Troll Assault Wagon) or are they something else entirely? Also, any idea how long the current sale prices will last? Also, just a general question. Has there been any word on if putting the ISD on layaway and then getting it during the sale will get you the sale price or not?

Has there been any word on if putting the ISD on layaway and then getting it during the sale will get you the sale price or not? Target (at least in the US) no longer has layaway. I've heard they might still have layaway in some other countries, but I can't help you with that. Edited November 17, 2008 by Dr Lucky

Decisions decisions.... Don't count on it...even though Target is getting smarter and knows that the sets will sell out either way (50% or 40% off) and upped the price, it will still most likely sellout within 1-2 hours. I highly doubt they will save any for the following day...however, they might have rainchecks. I ended up getting a Falcon 2 years ago but I also saw rainchecks for it later the same day when it was gone. By the way, hey all, I just registered.

My "Local" Targets (At least 7) all had a plethora but clearanced them @ 49.98 and then later @ $24.98 [YIKES!] a month ago. I missed out but there are posts here and @ FBTB about it..... I'll be @ Target bright and early for the ISD.......

There were 3 left at the store I finally found them @ and I came back the next morning only to find them sold out. Later I saw the post that said they were $25. They didn't last that long around here. Edited November 18, 2008 by Omega 8
