Derek Posted November 27, 2008 Author Posted November 27, 2008 Does anyone know if what they have stacked on the top of the shelf is all they have? Because I was just at my Target and they had roughly 35-36 of them on the top shelf, and my mother is going out on Black Friday, so she is going to pick it up for me, but I doubt she is going to be there at 6, and I don't know if 35 will last until she gets there. Do you think they have more in the back? -darthperson

CommTech Posted November 27, 2008 Posted November 27, 2008 (edited) Won't be getting the King's Castle Siege from Wal-Mart because I bought three of them at $24.98 each at Target a month ago when they got clearanced. However, I will get the ISD from Target. Today I stashed 4 of them at 2 different targets to improve my chances against the crowds. I think I should be fine finding at least 2 that I need. Stash locations are really good behind stuff that won't be on sale that day and that rarely moves. Hopefully employees won't uncover any of my 4 locations! Regarding the MTT from TRU, I don't think I'll be getting that. It's just not attractive enough to me even at that price. Edited November 27, 2008 by CommTech

Crap, I was there a few hours ago, I should have done that and told my mom where it was... Won't be getting the King's Castle Siege from Wal-Mart because I bought three of them at $24.98 each at Target a month ago when they got clearanced. Lucky. I guess I can't complain. I got the Skeleton Tower for $12.48.

WhiteHexagon Posted November 28, 2008 Posted November 28, 2008 shame the Shop@Home 10% discount is USA and Canada only Apple seems to be the only retailer taking the black friday thing international?
slimninj4 Posted November 28, 2008 Posted November 28, 2008 Just got back from a Target in my area. There are three of them near me. I picked one, almost the wrong one. NO ISD on display so I waited by the stock room doors and they were wheeling them out after a few minutes. I grabbed two and the guy said they only had 8 total left in stock. The other target I went to had about 70-100 in stock in the isles the week before today (but not on sale). These were flying off the racks. Disappointed it was 40% off and not 50% but hey still good deal.
Erdbeereis Posted November 28, 2008 Posted November 28, 2008 I am now the proud owner of a $60 ISD! The line at Target was incredibly long, and Target only seemed to have 3 or 4 on the shelves, and by the time I got in they were gone. However, like Slimninj said, they had quite a few more in the storeroom so I managed to grab one. It seemed to be a very popular item, as quite a few people were carrying them out. Overall, a good experience for my first Black Friday! It certainly was hectic though. People running all over the place, crowded aisles, and just plain crazy! Everyone seemed to be in a good mood though, and no fights broke out! My Target never had a clearance on the Castle sets... When was that?
KinGanon Posted November 28, 2008 Posted November 28, 2008 Thanks for the info, I got a King Castle Seige for 48.88, and I got it two days before Black Friday! (It was hidden in the fitness isle on the top shelf) interesting place to hide it, heh?
Corvus Posted November 28, 2008 Posted November 28, 2008 Nooooo! My Target ran out of sets at 6:15... and I got there at 9:00. I did grab two stormtrooper BPs, though... and got a dollar off.
Trexxen Posted November 28, 2008 Posted November 28, 2008 Well that means I'm pretty much boned - my mom can't go shopping until after 4 due to work, so I can kiss my dreams of ever obtaining an ISD goodbye =P Oh well, like I said in the sales and deals thread, I still can fall back on the $60 MTT, or the $50 King's Castle Siege, or the Half-Off Aquabase Invasion I guess...or better yet, I can get one of the Factory sets at $35 and other small items. =P
Oky Posted November 28, 2008 Posted November 28, 2008 I was the last one to grab an MTT at my local TRU! However, it's a set that has already been opened and played with, so I'd like to exchange it as soon as they have new MTTs in stock. But with the MTT being a pretty old set, I'm worried that the 40% off sale might have been a clearance move by TRU. Does anyone know if they will keep selling them after this?
posades Posted November 29, 2008 Posted November 29, 2008 Well, I ended up going to Target first; got there at around 6:15 (long lines as well, I'm talking wrapping around the outside of the building to the back long) but still managed to get an ISD. I'd say they probably had around 9 or 10 left. Didn't fair so well at TRU, is the sale still going on tomorrow? You never know, they may keep some in the back for a Saturday sale or something.
Matteo Kenobi Posted November 29, 2008 Posted November 29, 2008 I love all these Black Friday stories Well I didn't want to get up at 6 AM, I'm not exactly a morning person But I woke up at 7 and got to the nearest Target to see a local news team and camera crew outside the front door interviewig someone. Well I walked in and rushed myself to the lego section and looked and saw a gaping space staring at me, and my heart sunk Well I went to a Starbucks nearby and pumped my body with caffine. I decided I might as well head over to the Target Greatland that wasn't to far away, saying a few prayers on the way Well I got there and rushed to the Lego section and there it was another gaping hole, I didn't even bother to ask anyone this time I just headed back out to the car. As I was in the parking lot I got one of those feelings and I said to myselft "I'll just go back in and see if they restocked them," Well I went back in, walking slower and not breathing as deaply. I walked up and saw a lady putting three ISDs back on he shelf I gasped and grabbed it not letting go for dear life, they lady joked and asked if I needed a paramedic and said no and that I was glad I finally found it I am now so happy with it, I built it and love it, the only thing that angers me is the fact that Vaders Helmet put-er-on-er doesn't actually hold the helmet, I'll have to MOD it some how
Inigo Montoya Posted November 29, 2008 Posted November 29, 2008 There's a Target right near where I work but I abhor black friday, and the typical shopper frantically shoving people aside trying to get their hands on this item or that. I rolled in tonight at about 8pm, wanting an ISD, but wouldn't be crushed if I didn't get one. Went up to a rep working near the lego aisle and asked if he could scan the tag to see how many were in stock, as there were none on the shelf, he said 30, I asked 'is that in stock or before today's sales' he said 'in stock', but couldn't explain why there weren't any on the shelf. Found an older guy, wearing a long sleeve target shirt, figured he was a manager or lead of some sort, the same thing. He became quite distraught that 30 sets were missing (I figured they had been scattered around the store by people wanting them but coming back later to buy them), he couldn't find one, so I left. On the way out the front door I hear 'Sir!' and turn around and he's motioning for me, telling me he's found one! Great deal for me. No waiting, no getting up early, and I still get the set. Looks like a great deal at $60.

dieselboy m Posted November 29, 2008 Posted November 29, 2008 (edited) I spent $750 on LEGO sets this Black Friday... My brother and I are veterans of Black Friday shopping, we do it every year to get all our Christmas shopping out of the way early and at great deals. This year the BF shopping experience was great, very smooth (it seems less people were BF shopping this year, probably the economy), and got just about everything on our lists. We spent a total of $2323, $750 of which were my LEGO. All the deals at TRU, Walmart, Target, and Kmart were fairly easy to take advantage of. My TRU had plenty of the Star Wars MTT, Mars Mission Armored Drilling Unit, and Aquaraiders sets. Walmart had more than enough of the King's Castle Siege, and Target was also well stocked with the ISD. As for Kmart, I was hoping to use the buy 2 get 1 free deal on a couple Republic Gunships, but they didn't have any. In fact, their selection was pretty slim, but I still took advantage of the deal and got some Agents, Star Wars, and City sets, saving $29.98 on six sets. I'll post some pics after everything's sorted. I went to eight stores and a mall on Black Friday. Not once did I see any shoving or rudeness. It's a shame the typical person where you live is a jerk. Yeah, I went to around the same number of stores and didn't really experience any rudeness, especially not any extreme cases that people seem to equate with Black Friday shopping. Derek Posted November 29, 2008 Author Posted November 29, 2008 My mom was going to Target for the sale, and got me an ISD, but she said they weren't in the Lego aisle, but on a shelf by the detergent...

Erdbeereis Posted November 29, 2008 Posted November 29, 2008 Some people are just sick.... I can't believe that people can be so crazy when it comes to sales. When you really think about it, $100 here or there doesn't make much of a difference in the long run, certainly not enough to kill. What a sad world we live in. My area at least had no trouble with fights or anything, everyone seemed very well-behaved
Oky Posted November 30, 2008 Posted November 30, 2008 I also heard that two guys shot each other in a TRU in Palm Springs. Both are dead, but it is unknown why this happened. I love Lego, but I would never kill for it.

I love Lego, but I would never kill for it. Yeah I read about that in the newspaper. It said that some women started fighting and then two men started arguing as well. Well they obviously pulled out guns and one chased the other while shooting. In the end, they both killed each other. Its pretty lucky that no one else got shot in the process. I live pretty damn close to Palm Springs.. well its not exactly a short drive but still, thinking about it is pretty scary. People really are crazy. I was home with a buddy I haven't seen for a while. So eh, I guess I didn't get any deals.
sgt stickey Posted November 30, 2008 Posted November 30, 2008 I got 2 lego sets at toysus but didn't care about the sale ang got peril in peru and cannon battle set.

Once two little childrens tried to claw out my face because I was holding a LEGO Star Wars set they evidently wanted on Black Friday. I wasn't even gonna buy the damn thing, and they still made me bleed in the face.
