I know it's fake  (helmet and weapons are from Brickforge, and the torso is from a gungan warrior) but I think it reminds a bit to that image of the castle catalog that gave hopes to us all, doesn't it?

Sorry if re-post!

Well, i have to say i don't like the elf helmet from Brickforge, a dwarvenhelmet or no helm at all would look better on a custom elf minifig! The bow looks awesome in comparison with the normal longbow, though.

Yes, i'm really looking forward to the elf sets that maybe will come out next year. However i think there have to be more troll and dwarf (!) related sets first before TLC makes another faction :hmpf:

This is Ampersand's entry for the Elfland's Contest that was held here on Eurobricks.

I thought it looked familiar.

Yes, indeed it is MOC. Well spotted!

Perhaps it goes without saying that I hope this does inspire TLC.

Incidentally, it hasn't been mentioned in this thread that the head is from a HP minifig - just in case someone wanted to reproduce it.

I hate elves :P I'll buy all the elves set only to put them dead or dying or suffering in my mocs ! if they release these kind of sets one day^^

I would love to have elf sets. Since I saw the first orc/dwarf set, I've been waiting for them. And I think we'll eventually have a few.

And since I'm a purist, I don't like decals & all those sorts of custom items. They won't satisfy me no matter how good (Brickforge/Brickarms stuff is very good though!)

I wouldn't have guessed that this is an elf and not some other figure..? Is there some general definition for 'elf'? What I would call an 'elf' (tiny girl with wings) would be a 'fairy' in English, I believe....

All you elf lovers will have to wait until 2010 and hope that they'll release some elf sets then.

A nice MOC by the way.

Yes, I remember it was the Elves impulse set contest. I particpated in that contest too.

As what KimT had mentioned, I won't mind waiting until 2010 to look forward to some elves set. Meanwhile, let's wait for the amazing outstanding castle sets next year.

There are of course different types of elves, depending on your culture. In Finland, elves are tiny bearded men with red pointed caps (the most famous variety of them are of course the christmas elves). English knows many names for "elf-like" creatures - fairy, gnome, knocker, brownie, pixie, sprite etc. These are collectively known as "fey folk".

In any case, the elves we are talking about here are the "fantasy literature"-kind, not creatures from any folklore. These elves are tall, slender, beautiful and ageless, dwell in secret forests or golden cities, wield bows and magic, and shun away from steel and evil.

So there's really a huge difference.

There's also something with the Dutch word "kabouter". It means garden gnome sometimes, but it's also a word for a Irish Leprechaun, or the gnomes from

J K Rowling  . I thought something was also with the words troll and ogre in foreign languages. Almost everything that has to do with fairytales and (sometimes) with Fantasy has most of the time different words for the same thing and vice versa.

If I think of Elves, I automaticaly think of LOTR, I think JRR Tolkien did a fine job describing them and the producers of the movie made it even better (although slightly unrealistic to Tolkiens values).

Orcs are the counterparts of the elves: the first orcs were once elves, captured by darkness and tortured, humiliated and massacred during their entire lives, for generations and generations (and as u know, an elve is nearly immortal), their childrens children ultimatly became the orcs: allergic to light due to their lives underground.

I like the set above, including the helmet and bow, I must admit it could be done better but...is it one of his earlier works (BF)?

That bow has string on it? That would never get by QA for a childrens toy. It is to easy to break. Great idea for brick forge but I cannot see TLC doing that.

TLC have done string before but not that fine or, AFAIK, as short. The string is not BF either, though the bow is. The string was my addition.

Bah!! I guess next year this time, we'll (I'll...) have to hope for a sneak peak set release for X-Mas '09.
