Corvus Posted October 20, 2008 Posted October 20, 2008 My English Honors class (which is basically normal english... but it looks better on you ) gave an extra credit assignment on a sermen by a Puritan minister entitled "Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God," which I thought was funny because it basically made you afraid to leave your house if you were a Puritan. So, I ordered parts from BL and built it. Took pics first, and then I gave it to the teacher. She's never gotten Lego assignments before, oddly. Anyway, here it is: This is the first time I've ever used this technique. Very fun. Seen here: The pit of Hell, a giant hand, and some poor guy. (the terrified face is one of the best things ever, don't you agree?) I had so much fun making this. The hand design is borrowed from wilbenelsket on brickshelf. Flickr link. Note: I'm not trying to be anti-religious, or anything. It's a school assignment. If it offends you for some reason, PM me or flame at me in the topic. Quote
Dr. X Posted October 20, 2008 Posted October 20, 2008 If it offends you for some reason, PM me or flame at me in the topic. Unintentional pun FTW! And nice MOC by the way. I wonder what the expression on the teacher's face was when you gave it to her! Quote
Faramir Posted October 21, 2008 Posted October 21, 2008 You should have made a minifig likeness of your English teacher and used that After all, it was extra credit... Very nice MOC, flames of hell on! Quote
iamded Posted October 21, 2008 Posted October 21, 2008 Hehe, very cool. I was expecting to see a Walrus in there somewhere... A neat, abstract MOC. Now do one for Heaven, just for the fun of it! Extra extra credit? ~Peace Quote
Dennimator Posted October 21, 2008 Posted October 21, 2008 I was expecting to see a Walrus in there somewhere... Yea, I thought so too. You should put Sinner´s sigfig there instead. Anyway that´s a nice MOC! I especially like the "hell" that you built! P.S: Expect to see an angry post or PM from Sinner (read the title, and you´ll get it...). Quote
Eilif Posted October 21, 2008 Posted October 21, 2008 gave an extra credit assignment on a sermen by a Puritan minister entitled "Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God," which I thought was funny because it basically made you afraid to leave your house if you were a Puritan. A truely poorly stated expostion of one of Jonathan Edwards' best known sermons, but your very nice MOC gets the point across quite well. Great use of the proximity between the hand and "hell" to mirror Edward's statements regarding the inevetable fate of the wicked. The "sinner" looks truely frightened. Good Job! Back in high school, I also did a diorama on this work for extra credit, though it wasn't nearly as nice as yours. I should have used LEGO... Quote
Guss Posted October 21, 2008 Posted October 21, 2008 you offended me , delete it right now and eat a ton of megablock pieces ! well.. hum ... that's a nice moc^^ I love how the "lava" ground looks , that's great Quote
Captain Green Hair Posted October 21, 2008 Posted October 21, 2008 That's a nicely done scene, the colors work really well and the expression on that face is classic! I'm not religious, so i won't flame at you, but... I do wonder why the sinner is in his G-string, does that mean he's ... and therefore a Sinner in the eyes of your wonderful god? Make's one think, doesn't it? Quote
Corvus Posted October 21, 2008 Author Posted October 21, 2008 Hey, thanks, guys. I wasn't expecting to get a whole lot of replies. This was my first venture into using SNoT as a base, and I really loved it. I've never ordered parts for a MOC before, and I guess it kind of told me that I can do a good MOC if I have the right pieces. All previous MOCs are scavenging for parts, MODing, or making something out of an old set. Really interesting. Really makes me want to try it again. Crap, I'm addicted... Unintentional pun FTW! Whoops. You should have made a minifig likeness of your English teacher and used that After all, it was extra credit... Very nice MOC, flames of hell on! Nah. I still want her to like me. And the grade you got? I don't particularly care- I did it more for the sake of doing it than the grade. Good Job!Back in high school, I also did a diorama on this work for extra credit, though it wasn't nearly as nice as yours. I should have used LEGO... Well, we didn't go in depth- We skimmed over it and a few others. However, I do agree that it was very good. His imagery was probably the best I've read in a while. I just don't agree with his methods of telling people to be good... Thanks. Quote
Siegfried Posted October 21, 2008 Posted October 21, 2008 As predicted by others, here I am to say; "Where's the bl$&dy Walrus?" Great MOC! Quote
