May 8, 201410 yr Well... still under construction (waiting for some legs, helmets and other parts), but most of it is now complete: 250 plus minifigs. Will dedicate more time to make the castle (set 6080) bigger :) Only the King and the 6 Kings Guards are not "Original" classic castle minifigs, but couldn't resist to have those 6 guys in black eheheh
May 8, 201410 yr ^Nicely done! I love classic castle. I've considered building up my old armies like you did here. 250 is very impressive. With the Crusaders I always felt the light gray looked better than the black helmets. I think Black Falcons and Black Knights both had black helmets, but I always kept the Lion knights with the light gray. I guess it kept them separated a bit more for my tastes. It's amazing how similar the new King's Castle is to the old one. Even the same name...TLG sure is creative..
May 8, 201410 yr With both torsos (lion and crossed axes) and 4 diferent colour of legs (red, blue, grey and black), the combinations are"endless! As a Crusader fan, i kept the legs in single colours, and the black helmets (with lion torsos) to units that will guard the castle. The crossed axes torsos will be the "outside" units. I even kept the knights torsos in 3 single colours: red, blue and black (without torso and arms combinations). The minifigs bellonging to official sets will remain as they are. I'm now serching for some good paint to aply in black plastic capes to put in both my 6 white and yellow knights ("purists" will hate eheheheh)
May 12, 201410 yr Bravo to everyone who is posting! Love the classic castle guys! My army of them is similar sized but mostly the lions at a 4:1 ratio. It is great that yours is more balanced!
May 13, 201410 yr Great armies everyone! Here are mine along with explanation of the armies pertaining to the lore of my area, especially since I like keeping armies the same. Included are numbers of soldiers, and it does not include princesses/queens, old/young townies, etc. Just fighters, though some may be carrying siege weapons, etc and not shown holding weapons. LOTR figures are included but go as generic soldiers based (eg "Aragorn" is a plain swordsman, etc) The Crown The oldest kingdom in the realm, used to be quite rich but has started falling on bad times (explaining the peasant militia and colorful mercenaries). They have decent supply lines for battle due holding much land, but the populace is starting to waver in their devotion to the king, though some are lucky to have salvaged armor in the battles fought recently. 1x King 2x Archers 20x Spearmen (4 carrying siege engines/supplies) 12x Swordsmen Current Standing: 35 able bodied men The Raiders The "evil" men, or maybe just misunderstood. A small group, but ruthless. Known for pillaging the countryside, the evil men retreat back to their hidden lair. They have acted as mercenaries for various kingdoms throughout the years for proxy wars. 1x Wizard 1x Archer 3x Spearmen 7x Swords/axemen (one not pictured, inside a carriage) 1x Dragon Current Standing: 12 able bodied men The Other Similar to the evil men, the Other are knwon for raiding local villages, but this group is much larger, possibly even more dangerous. Divided into two branches in a twisted form of republic, the orcs and skeletons have joined forces to some end unknown to the rest of the world. 1x Ogre 2x Berserker Orcs 7x Orc Swordsmen 5x Orc spearmen 1x Mounted Skeleton (not shown, he was missing from the army for some reason) 5x Sketeon swordsmen Current Standing: 21 able bodied men things The Lion Knights A smaller, newer kingdom far from the Crown Kingdom. Led by a king and his twin brother serving as first general, this kingdom is gaining wealth faster than thought possible. They prefer investing the money over building up a large army, a smart move as they are at the far end of the world, nearly isolated. 2x Royal Family 3x Archers 2x Swordsmen 3x Spearmen 1x peasant fighter Current Standing: 11 able bodied men The Dragon Knights Led by my sigfig, the Dragon Knights are a secretive group, not exactly a kingdom or guild or even band of mercenaries. Rather a group whose goals are to keep balance in the realm, making war when necessary to not let one kingdom grow too strong. All are welcome to join, but none may leave. Some whisper that the Dragons are truly the most powerful in the realm, but their castle concealed by an immense forest hides all the answers. 4x Horsemen (including my sigfig; one horse not pictured) 2x Wizard (one on horseback, not included in the horsemen) 5x Archers 10x swordsmen 2x Spearmen 1x Man with a massive warhammer 1x Wardog Current standing: 25 able bodied men Overall of fighters in the realm: 104 able bodied men The reason I have so many factions with such little men is due to having multiple sets from multiple themes/years without buying spare figs from online.
May 19, 201410 yr Been collecting LOTR/Hobbit orcs and wargs recently. Last night I tried to combined my Fantasy Era orcs and LOTR/Hobbit orcs together and here is how it looks like: I feel the orcs are pretty match! Azog at mid field. Yazneg on the right wing. This Orc General lead the left wing. Orcs king behind supporting the attack. Another angle. They set out to wipe out mankind. Thanks for viewing. Edited May 19, 201410 yr by songwm
May 22, 201410 yr Well I've been enjoying other people's armies on here for awhile now and so finally decided to create an account just to return the favor: Wolf Pack Forestmen Vikings Dragoons Dwarves Elves Mermen Hawkmen Trolls Crownies Tournament Knights More and better pics can be found in my Brickshelf Folder http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=543598 Thanks! June 16, 201410 yr This isn't exactly a Castle army, but at the moment it's the closest I've got so thought I'd share it with you here. This is my Roman Army. It comprises of: 52 Legionaries, 20 Auxiliary Infantry, 8 Auxiliary Cavalry, 7 Auxiliary Archers, 3 standard bearers, 2 Cornicen, 2 Centurions, 1 Military Tribune / Legate 1 Legate / Emperor Thanks for viewing MW Edited June 16, 201410 yr by Macsen Wledig
June 19, 201410 yr That's a great Roman army you've got there! :) Love the Roman Army! Cheers both, I'm rather pleased with it!
June 19, 201410 yr Cheers both, I'm rather pleased with it! Your road work is fantastic, too! I can't tell if it's an optical illusion or not, but is does the loop in the road lie on a hill? It almost looks like it all slants down from the left to the right. Edited June 19, 201410 yr by kibosh
June 19, 201410 yr That Roman army look expensive I love seeing these large armies. I should break mine out and take a picture, but it won't be nearly as impressive as a lot of these. As much as I want to army build, I don't know if I can justify buying multiples of the same figure anymore since there are so many more sets/figures I want.
June 20, 201410 yr Your road work is fantastic, too! I can't tell if it's an optical illusion or not, but is does the loop in the road lie on a hill? It almost looks like it all slants down from the left to the right. Thank yoy. No optical illusion the loop is sloped and does indeed fall from left to right, That Roman army look expensive I love seeing these large armies. I should break mine out and take a picture, but it won't be nearly as impressive as a lot of these. As much as I want to army build, I don't know if I can justify buying multiples of the same figure anymore since there are so many more sets/figures I want. You're right, it did dent the wallet a little bit! I agree to a certain extent regarding large armies and I don't intend to expand this one any further. The bigger the army the more difficult it becomes to photograph a MOC. I plan to make a pretty big battle with it this summer and these guys are just the right size.
June 21, 201410 yr Songwm - Very nice integration of dinosaurs and seige engines! Also, nice large force. Cornerfrog - Very nice layout and variety on your troops - I love it when people give some character to their factions. I must say, the forest "woman" looks like she may have some identity issues. Macsen Wledig - This is a great Roman army, and you've done a wonderful job of differentiating your troops, and matching them to the era. Excellent work!
June 24, 201410 yr Okay, here is an update of my viking army. I got some things from Brick Warriors and thought, why not upload them. They are not finished yet, I still need to paint the shields. Well, let's get started. Here is my new commander, he doesn't have Brick Warriors stuff, just all Lego. And here are my normal soldiers, they are just a random bunch of vikings and villagers with hair or dwarf helmets and Brick Warriors shields, swords and axes. And here are my special soldiers, commanders and archers. The archers are villagers with Lego bows, one commander is a viking with Brick Warriors shield and sword, other commander is a viking with all Lego items and Alfadas, the one in the center, my sigfig, has a great sword from BW, all other things are Lego. The Special heavy forces are vikings with BW shields, swords and axes. They also have the new BW Viking Helmet with horns. I must say, that they look better then I at first thought. And then I have 3 vikings that are scared of the camera, I didn't include them in the pics for some reason
June 24, 201410 yr Wow! That BW helmet looks awesome on your Viking figs Alfadas! Keep us updated when you paint the shields!
