You can sign me up too, haha!

Great army of apple trees  Are you going to build an orchard?

I hadn't really planned on it...until I threw them all onto a baseplate for this shot.

Now, I'm thinking 'maybe'.

New to the forums but lego castle collector for over 20 years.

Army factions below photos not great quality and about 18 months old, but taken when I reached 3500 figures in my castle world. I don't have that many horses, many were used in multiple shots. I am probably short 75 heads, 100 legs and many many helmets.

I have added about 700 more since these photos were taken. Have added the newest castle lines 80 dragons and 90 new lions, tons of collectable minifigs 10 robin hoods, 55 spartans, 20 samauri, 38 elves, 53 muskateers, 30 vikings, 30 pharroh, 1 ninja, and about a dozen mis-picks once the bar codes and bumps went away. Some rappers, and ice skaters arrrrhhh

I create anything like what I have seen here in these forums. Some of you who can are downright amazing.

So many awesome soldiers, I see that you took advantage of the chess sets! I wish I started collecting a few years earlier, then I would have thousands of minfigures too! Only in the hundreds so far. But another 100 on its way in the mail. Do you have enough troops to wield all your weapons? I just outfitted 100 spearmen, but that resulted in like 100 swords being removed and lying around. Guess my upcoming minfigures should take care of that problem. But I still have lots of crossbows, some maces, lots of katanas and some axes.

Magnus I certainly hope there is a harry potter head in amongst Godrics troops?! I do love their color scheme. The forestmen with the armor are great. I actually have a matching unit of them.

A belated response. No, not a single Harry Potter head. I'm not fond of the heads with glasses. It doesn't feel right in this era. However, Count Godric has a head similar to Godric Gryffindor. Thanks!

My Kingdoms army is not in a good shape at the moment, but I thought maybe some of you might enjoy my idea of a Kingdoms Black Elite Guard.

Their leader:

Nothing fancy, but I like them. You will of course recognize the spartan parts and the kingdoms parts. The shields are Griffindor shields.

That color combination looks good. I like it.

I had some time off today so I decided to take a few pictures and organize my shelves. I apologize for the mediocre pictures as I am trying to save up for a camera upgrade :hmpf: .

I envy your four classic castle knights. I wish I had some of them.

I figured it's time to contribute with more images. This time it is Baron Baloo, Baron Louie & Baron Ferdinand. They have a few men each, but together they form part of a larger army.

Is the name of Baron Baloo influenced by Jungle Book, per chance (his insignia being a bear and all) ?

Yes, that is right. All my noblemen are influenced by a myth, legend, philosophie, folklore, fictional character, place or similar.

Magnus the Great, I am really jealous of those bull knights. I hope to get some at some point.

And with some recently aquired Ninjas and Samurai I have updated my Ninja Army

Thanks, I had to turn to three different BrickLink vendors to gather six knights. There are of course some who sell them in larger quantities than six, but it feels silly to turn to one vendor and buy nothing but six torsos. In return I'm jealous of your ninjas & samurais. I hope I can build a small army of ninja/samurai warriors in the future. Currently I have merely four black ninjas.

While I'm at it: Duke Aslan, Baron Legolas & Baron Salazar.

Duke Aslan: My third largest faction & currently one of two dukes. Aslan's hair is painted to make it look more Aslan-isch. However, it is a bit too dark. I got rid of the mandatory g-strings, besides the four knights standing behind Duke Aslan's champion. They have prints on on their g-string. Replaced the light bluish gray arms to red, as it was meant to be from the beginning.

Baron Legolas: I'm not in to fantasy so I got rid of the elf ears & gave them different hair styles. Didn't like their sand green arms either. I prefer dark green arms but since I have a shortage of it, I chose reddish brown instead.

Haha nice names. Baron Aslan is my favorite! Good point about the gstrings. But I like to pretend they are belts. Well the groin area can't be a belt but I ignore that. At first I found it to be weird but I like the color separation now.

3 vendors? Yea I know what you mean. Luckily I want castle minfigures from all factions ever! Well except Classic castle. I didn't get any of those. Not sure if I want to. Their printing seems a bit too basic for my tastes. Since I was buying up mass minfigiures, I was okay if they only had like 1 of what I was looking for. Since I could just buy others. Most of the ones I got are those generic scale mail and some breastplate minfiigures that were used by Crusaders, Royal Knights, Black Falcons and Black Knights. But also some Royal Knights and Crusaders. And of course getting more packages in the mail. Definitely going to make an army video or two every now and then.

And here is my Dragon Masters army.

I also consider the "g-string" to be a belt. The only way lego can make a belt without individually painting the codpiece on each figure, which they won't do. I don't mind the g-string so much as others do.

I do like the brown arms on the Legolas army and the red arms on the Aslan army.

I can't wait to get my old bricks out of storage to see what I have, but after hearing about Ziljin's last purchase with the scale mail figures, I want to do something similar.

What did I say about the scail mail? I only remember saying be a cheese and reuse them for multiple armies. As in put some crusader shields and put them with crusaders and bam crusader army, and then the same with black falcons, and Royal Knights. Artificially boosting each faction's numbers with the same minifigures. And then restore them to black knight shields and bam black knight army even though they will have appeared in four different armies lol.

I was referring to you purchasing variants of those figures. I was stating that I would like to do the same eventually.

And here is my Dragon Masters army.

And as far as I am aware, no horse barding for the dragon masters. They did have the horse war helmet, but regular saddles from what I remember. I had almost all of those sets when they first came out, but I haven't looked at those pieces since then. I will in about a month though.

Posted

Yea I looked them up, they only had dragons. =(. Well the only reason why I am buying all the variants is because I bought every castle minfigure that was cheap from the stores. I was looking for random minfigiures and some stores had almost every minfigure as cheap so I just bought them all. I figured if I am going to buy every castle minfigure on bricklink, I guess its okay if I buy some of the ones that costs 4-8 dollars (forestman with black plume! might have been cheaper to just buy a black plume but whatever another forestman minfig even if its expensive!) I had 2 forestmen, and ordered 9 of them going to have 11 of them! I was thinking of getting a forestwoman but they are 16-20 dollars. Lame.

Posted

Yeah, the forest woman is definitely overpriced, but I suppose that is supply and demand. I don't think I ever got that set with her in it, so that is one of the few figures I don't have from those days.

Posted

They're expensive because they're RARE! Black plumes are expensive too. Keep in mind that vintage minifigs aren't made anymore, and haven't been produced or sold for many years. There's a very limited supply, so buying those knights by the dozen is going to be a lot more difficult than amassing Kingdoms minifigs, and it will only get harder & harder for everyone else as you go.

Where am I going with this? Don't remember. Just keep the rarity/scarcity in mind I suppose!

Posted (edited)

WOW boy was I wrong. the black plume forestmen was 8 dollars. the black feather plume itself sells for 10+ dollars !!!! Looks like I got it for a steal (relatively speaking). Though I am only looking at USA sellers. That limits my supply significantly no doubt.

Well its already hard for me because Madoka and other mass army building lego fans already have hundreds of the old castle faction minifigures. And the other half probably mangled up in garbage dumps. I will try to buy as many as possible and then buy mass newer castle minfigures. My scale mail guys are already like 40 in number and will surpass my Crown Knight soon if they have not already. Those have been the easiest and cheapest to mass so far. and also some crusaders and royal knights. If I can get like at least 20 of each I guess that's fine. About half the factions I ordered already meet that quota.

EDIT: And now my Forestmen army. Too bad I don't have any bows.

Thanks to everyone for posting their armies. I love looking at this stuff.

I am certainly glad I am not collecting old factions any more. It looks like there are too many bidders out there right now. At around 4000 plus figs I will just keep adding the new factions as they come out. I do plan on taking photos some time soon. However, some of each faction are on my giant layout right now and therefore the units are not complete.

@Magnus: I think I should have you come over and do photos of my figs. I love how you can make the smallest unit look like artwork. Great units of soldiers.

@Ziljin: I love the idea of videos as you can get some notes from the creator. Well done.

@beefbanana: Love the skele army. I really like the undead wizard. I can't see the leader well since he blends into the blackness around him.

@dgherko: That is an insane number of figures. I know it is a lot of work but I hope to see all of them in units, with leaders, and armed to the teeth some day.

@Edmond Dantes: I love the mixture of dragon knight and spartan. Makes for a nice elite unit.

@Donut: Holy moly that is a lot of figs with red in them. It reminds me of a wheres waldo picture. Particularly like the bunny in the midst of all of that.

@Ogre: If it is the Lion knights vs the apple trees... I've gotta go with the trees. Great army! and also that is a lot of target practice polybags!

Alas, twas only 22 of them. Though, had I more funds, you can bet the farm it would have been more!

Only 22? Keep in mind, 22 is still more than the zero I own. :classic:

I tried to see them as belts but in the end, it is too annoying. Luckily, it is easy to fix. The classic knights are among my favorites. I used to have alot of them but the prints faded & the stickers fell of. I'm thinking of making my own as soon time permits. The Dragon Masters are among those I don't like. Though your Dragon Masters looks good.

8 dollars for one single plume? I guess I'm lucky since I have two complete sets. To bad they aren't in production any more.

Nice Forestmen & Royal Knights army. I use my forestmen as civilian hunters but I don't have any Royal Knights. A few shields but that's about it.

TheLegoDr

You are right but I guess we see what we want to see. I see a g-string. I was a bit disappointed when I got my first Lion knights, and they had light bluish gray arms. According to the images on TLC:s website (at the time) they should have red arms.

DaleDVM

Thanks, nice to hear. It felt like I didn't have a clue what I'm doing. I guess I have some clue after all.
