kofi Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 The problem is that i might not be the most representative sample. I've read the books like 10 times (including Silmarillion, Hobbit, Unfinished Tales, Children of Hurin) and i've seen the whole trilogy more than 5 times as well. I am not sure that globally is that many of us out there. At least there are some "strangers" out there! ;) Nice to read that someone else read the books more than once! Quote
CastleDefender Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 check out the pictures in the battle folder of my brick shelf page http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=6132923 The strength is massive!!!! Awesome!!! Quote
sahidko Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 At least there are some "strangers" out there! ;) Nice to read that someone else read the books more than once! Well they are my favourite books so i will definitely read them again. And LOTR brought me back to Lego as well - yesterday i ordered Orthanc which will complete the collection. Can't wait honestly. :) Quote
Alfadas Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 Orthanc is a great set. I have it for quite a while now, and still every time I see it, I get this feeling, don't know how to describe it. It is just such an amazing set, very tall (had to alter the shelves for it). Hope you also enjoy it! Quote
Vorkosigan Posted August 22, 2014 Posted August 22, 2014 I just recently went through my childhood Lego, here are my classic 80s/90s armies. Their equipment is a bit ragtag at the moment, I plan to sort them better at some point. Forestmen Wolfpack Black Falcons Dragons Quote
Artanis I Posted August 24, 2014 Posted August 24, 2014 I just recently went through my childhood Lego, here are my classic 80s/90s armies. So now you face the dilemma of whether to settle with what you had back then, or to instead spend all of your money on Bricklink boosting your armies and castle collection... Quote
narbilu Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 For the GoH, I rebuild my armies for the storyline... here's the result Avalonia - Hemresa Legion The Elves of the Southern Enchanted Forest The Faul The Savage of the North Midgardian Merchant Kaliphin Warlord Quote
Hive Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 I'm usually not a fan of flesh, but those narbilu-armies do look great! Quote
TheLegoDr Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 Nicely done. Thanks for sharing. I like seeing the sizes of them and in flesh. I prefer licensed skin tone, but I didn't want to take the time to change out all of my heads and hands for my kingdoms armies... The colors work well together though. Quote
sahidko Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 Hey guys since it looks like no more LOTR sets for us what is the latest status of your LOTR armies? Are you going to focus on expanding them (if so how many minfigs you think you still miss) or you are already satisfied with what you got. Quote
Trunkbass Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 Hey guys since it looks like no more LOTR sets for us what is the latest status of your LOTR armies? Are you going to focus on expanding them (if so how many minfigs you think you still miss) or you are already satisfied with what you got. Well I only started this year with LotR army building. I have about 36 Uruk-Hai and 12 Moria Goblins, all of my other villains are just the ones I got with buying each Middle-Earth set once. I will continue to get Uruks (and if possible Rohan soldiers to counter them) and Moria Goblins, as I feel that you can make a lot of MOC's with these because the factions are properly represented in LEGO. For that reason I'm hesitant to collect (although fairly cheap) Mordor Orcs. There's in my eyes nearly no MOC possible without the need to include Gondor soldiers/rangers. Without Gondor for me there will be no Mordor (in my MOC's). Quote

Are you going to focus on expanding them (if so how many minfigs you think you still miss) or you are already satisfied with what you got. I'm pretty much content with what I have. I will pick up doubles of every Hobbit set from wave three, and maybe several of the Witch King set (or BL just the WK), but there really' aren't many soldiers to collect in that wave which I don't already have. I might get another 20 or so of the orcs with hair, and 10 or so of the Gundabad Orcs with new face printing, but definitely nothing major this time around. Quote
sahidko Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 Yeah that is what i meant. With no more LOTR sets and no real army builder in Hobbit 3rd wave what are we going to do with all our money. :) Deathleech how many Uruk-Hais do you have actually? Quote
Black Numenorean Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 I have 50 uruk hai and 60 orcs but i would like more mordor orc bald and 6 nazguls ;( Quote
sahidko Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 I have 50 uruk hai and 60 orcs but i would like more mordor orc bald and 6 nazguls ;( Eh, that reminds me i still have just two nazguls from Weathertop set. I need to buy at least 6 more as i am thinking about including Witch King from Hobbit line so he will stand out from the rest. I personally have 66 Uruks and would like to have at least 100 so it will be 3:1 against good guys in my Helms deep. Quote
Mr. Cube Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 I have 105 Uruks (including 16 berserkers), about 10 Mordor/Hunter orcs, 10 Gundabad Orcs, 4 Goblins, 3 Moria Orcs...and 1 Azog and 1 Yazneg , 15 wargs, 9 Nazguls (finally!). I just bought the Helms Deep set, so I can finally make some battle scene...hmm (I should buy some Rohan soldiers...I have only 1 ) Quote
sahidko Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 ..hmm (I should buy some Rohan soldiers...I have only 1 ) Good luck with that when looking at prices on bricklink at the moment. :) Quote
Deathleech Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 Deathleech how many Uruk-Hais do you have actually? 160 I think and 12 of those are "White Hand" armor. I was planning on buying a LOT more Mordor Orcs if we were to get a Gondor Soldier/Mordor Orc battle pack and they had came with proper armor. I was wanting to get about 80 Gondor Soldiers and 120 more Mordor Orcs to add to my existing 150 orcs (20 Orc Hunters, 20 Goblin Soldiers, 60 Mordor Orcs, and 50 Gunadabad Orcs) if Lego would have given us a Gondor/Mordor army builder set. I also have 9 Nazgul, 3 Cave Trolls, 18 Wargs, and 40 Moria Goblins. Quote
Trunkbass Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 ^ That is insane! What are you planning to do with all the Mordor orcs without Gondor soldiers to fight them? I hesitate to buy Mordor Orcs because I don't know what to do with them, but they're a lot cheaper than Uruk-Hai so... Quote
sahidko Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 (edited) Me too, therefore i have only those included in Black Gate, Pirate Ship, Orc Forge and Orthanc sets. I also dont like the fact that they actually used Uruk-Hai helmet for one of them and left the others bald. Edited August 27, 2014 by sahidko Quote

Maybe use them as generic orcs if I ever decide to do a MOC or something. I was hoping we would get some Gondor Soldiers for them to fight, but ya... Quote

Regardint to that I dont know why they put Uruk Hai Helmet into that set at the first place. Its iconic helmet for Uruks, not Mordor! God damned :) Quote
Black Numenorean Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 i will show you my armies, the sonner better! Quote
Maxim I Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 Seriously guys, this is a "post your CASTLE armies"-topic, not a "let's talk about what to do with Mordorsoldiers"-topic. There are currently topics enough in this forum where you can discuss this. @Black Numenorean: I am looking forward to it! Quote
