I love classic castle armies. That was my childhood era, so it always brings me back. I have a modest collection of the main groups back then, but haven't tried army building them since. I should consider it again. I find myself looking back at my childhood LEGO more than modern LEGO..interesting indeed.

Keep up the good work. I wouldn't want to meet them on the battlefield...until I get my Black Knights army going strong.

Castle and Pirate themes remind me of my childhood too.

I think I'll never be able to build such wonderful Castle armies like those I see in this topic. Well, at least my Clone Army is strong enough but that's another story :classic:

It's YOU! *rubs eyes* It's YOUR fault!!

Hadn't put two and two together... You and Wardancer and jFox are responsbile for dragging me kicking and screaming out of my Dark Age... and into the army building business in the first place!

Thank you

Super much love this time

David

Thanks! It's awesome that I helped inspire your very impressive Elf army! (your comment made my day last Saturday)

I wanted to watch your video first before I responded, and I finally saw it this morning (and will be commenting over there). Very, very impressive. I count 220 so far, and it sounds like you have more on the way. Significantly more Elves than I have :hmpf_bad: . I'm in the slow process of updating my armies to make them more customized, but it takes a lots of money, so it will take quite a while.

Here's a picture of my Castle armies about 2 years ago - I have probably picked up at least another 200 troops since then. Most of them are not armed in this picture, but I don't typically don't arm the troops until they are ready to display/photograph - as I often make multiple changes to each unit up until the body/armor/helmets are complete.

Yop that's where i bought them.

i though so, i have one at home too. and where did you buy that torso and legs? and one more question : in your opinion, is the quality of helmets same as shield? becasue i know the quality of shields and if the helmets are the same quality i would probably buy some :-)

As i mentoined in one of the posts above the quality varies. Some helmets are perfect, others too tight or too loose.

EDIT:

forgot to put link for the torso: http://www.ebay.com/itm/CASTLE-FANTASY-HOBBIT-LORD-OF-THE-RINGS-2-GREY-GONDOR-SOLDIER-TORSOS-LEGS-/400847748387?pt=UK_Construction_Toys_Kits&hash=item5d54633d23

Greetings! Long time reader, first time poster. I've been working on some Classic Castle armies for more than a year now (from sets 677/6077, 383/6083) which have been customized color-wise and fleshed out. I know some consider flesh to be heresy, but it is what brought me out of my dark ages. I like when each knight is individual and I can give them a name and identity, and not forget them later. I have four factions going right (slightly fantasy in race, but no magic) now which I call The Kingdom (the ruling faction), The Others (a group of rebels and outsiders from the Old Kingdom), The Alliance (a group of Republic styled warriors led by a group of Nine elder leaders) and a fourth unnamed (but hugely powerful) faction. The Kingdom, The Others, and The Alliance all have completely different heads, while the unnamed faction reuses many heads.

The Alliance and unnamed to come soon...hope you enjoy!

Nice I like the "old skool" style of the soldiers with modern faces (even if I do prefer yellow heads!)

I like the blue head on the others' mounted rider - where's it from?

Much love

Thank you! Always loved these guys, as I only had one of each when I was a kid (grew up mostly with crusaders and black knights). The blue head is custom from Christo (his Grand Admiral Thrawn). I paid big, but couldn't resist the blue head.

Hey you're welcome buddy! Well I only do Elves for the moment (although there are always plans...) but that's still a ton of minifigs you have!

Will check out the other post

Much love

AWESOME ARMY!!!! My kind of warriors: "old school" ones... even older then my Crusaders ans Lion Knights eheheheh GREAT job

Thanks! When I first started out (again), I couldn't decide between doing the Crusaders/Black Falcons/Black Knights versus the older Classics (and I didn't like the stickered armies of the Yellow Castle, although I had the set). These older guys always held the most power in my armies as a kid, so I thought I'd run with that idea!

I don't really have armies as such, however this is something I made a while ago;

Barbarian Tribesmen of the Wolfhead clan.

I really like it :classic: "Armies" don't necessarily have to be hundred Minifigures strong to be impressive. You made a great job in creating this group of fighters. Each of them is unique with pieces coming from several different sets. They have character. Great job :classic:

Thanks, I'm glad to see that you think so highly of these fellers.

I really like when Minifigures have "character" and not just "buy and paste" lol (you know what I mean  ) clones of the same Minifigure. I always try to customize a bit even Star Wars Clone Troopers, who are clones by definition

You achieved a great level of "uniqueness" with your band/group of warriors and that's a very good thing indeed :classic:

Lego is doing really poor job with clones as the whole 748 million clons should have a face of Jango Fett. And they all should look the same.

At a basic level, the clones should have an unscarred version of Jango's face (and not in the standard Licensed Flesh color, either; since I have few enough clones as-is, I'm tempted to buy a bunch of Captain Panaka heads to replace them with), but depending on the character--more commonly in TCW, of course--the clones could have different scars, stubble, tattoos, and other marks as they have different life experiences (i.e. war!). Commander Wolffe shouldn't look just like Captain Rex or Fives or Commander Cody... they should be more like, say, Indiana Jones' face vs Han Solo's face. Similar, but different.

I like the variety in amechanicalmind's Others... especially the Chiss knight!

Well actually the Clones are about 8 millions  and they are the same at birth. Different experiences may alter look. Scars, tattoos, even life style, stress can have a certain impact on look. Beside, I was talking about weapons and armor customization :classic:

Only 8 million? So the entire Grand Army of the Republic can, like, populate New York City? And they're supposed to be spread across a galaxy fighting a war? <sigh> Silly human brains and our difficulties with realistic scale. 8 billion clones would've been far better. With trillions of sentients across the GFFA, it's still a relative drop in a bucket.
