Hindenburg Posted April 29, 2015 Posted April 29, 2015 (edited) Since TLC started LOTR and Hobbbit theme, my goal was to create orcs army. I decided to build also some terain , not just buy minifigures and put them on baseplates. Also i did not want to have some kind of clone army. So I try to make as many variants of orcs warriors as I can. From the pictures that I put here you probably can not see the variance of soldiers, but I promise to make more photos of detailed orcs in my army soon. The whole MOC consists of 4 parts. Each part is 2 baseplates 32x32, so the total size is 64x128. I decided to make the MOC this way, because of easy transportation. Total number of orcs in my MOC is 158 minifigures (and 22 wargs) + 2 cavetroll my orcs army in numbers: 1x Azog 2x flagholders in front of army 130x infantry (100 mordor orcs + 30 moria orcs) 2x balista + 4 orcs as balista stuff 21x riders on wargs 2x cavetroll SO hope you will like my army, here are some pictures : OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA by richchie, on Flickr I must say, that is a brilliant army you have there!! I am so jealous Edit: I just noticed that was the 1300 answer to this topic *proud* Edited April 29, 2015 by Hindenburg Quote
richchie Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 Richchie, wow that's an impressive army! But man....how much did that cost? I can not say exactly, but the price was really high, price was the reason why I decided to stop on number of minifigures at 160, I wanted 200, but I decided to save some money to my Rohan army that I want to build Quote
Deathleech Posted May 5, 2015 Posted May 5, 2015 I just found your older post with pictures of your amazing evil army the other day and found it simply stunning so can't wait to see the mentioned upgrade with the 30 Hobbit orcs. Hurry with the pictures if it is possible :-) Thanks! I got the 30 orcs I ordered in the mail the other day... but then I ordered another 20 Mordor Orcs so now I am waiting on them. I have a sickness Ultimately I would like to create a nice display like richchie did. Right now I have them all stored away in my closet in bins to keep them nice and clean. You can see the pictures of them in this thread. I would also like to order some misc armor pieces (mainly hats and helmets) to make them look a little more rag tag and not so uniform. Quote
richchie Posted May 6, 2015 Posted May 6, 2015 http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=35423&st=25#entry2205981 this is huge colection especialy love the rohirim.. because they are too hard to buy on BL. if you make some displey and make some variants of minifigures (to be not like clone army) it would be amazing!! looking for more photos Quote

Yes you are definitely right, this must be some sort of sickness, a kind of sickness unfortunately I am closely familiar with :-) (even if my collection is dwarfed by yours) I will be especially interested about your ideas of adding new hats or helmets to the orc guys as I am a real hater of the stupid bald ones we had in a couple of sets and have the same desire. Do you make the orders on Bricklink for more orcs? Regarding the orc army, I am not sticked to the LOTR-Hobbit world and I feel that the new CMF Goblin migt be a nice addition to the army (especially with adding some head variants to them to make teh goblins less homogeneous. Quote
Deathleech Posted May 6, 2015 Posted May 6, 2015 Do you make the orders on Bricklink for more orcs? A lot of them, yes. I bought 20 of the Uruk-hai Army and 10 Mirkwood Elf Army sets. Other than that (and one of every other regular set), all of my orcs have come from BrickLink. I was able to get most of the bald Mordor Orcs for around $2/each. The Uruk-hai were around $3 for the fully armored versions. Unfortunately they aren't available for anywhere near this price that anymore. Now they are all $4+. Not that the haired and ear versions were ever cheap, those and Moria Orcs have always been $4.50+. I am not entirely sure which hats I will be using. Probably a lot of them that have already been used by other members though. I have seen the goblin CMF and considered getting some to help fill out my ranks, but ultimately decided not to. The reason being I feel like the print isn't near as detailed as the LotR and Hobbit orcs. Quote

Here in Europe the prices are always higher a little bit, but the rates for the mentioned minifigs are doubled by now so no cheap buys anymore. The bald orcs are always cheaper but I can not stand them in my army as I have a feel of uncompleteness upon looking at them so I always go for haired pieces. You are right regarding the CMF goblin as the LOTR orcs and goblins are much more detailed (especially the torso) but I like their hat piece very much. I will try to collect a small group of them to make some changes on them with new head, torso and leg combinations. Quote

Deathleech Posted May 20, 2015 Posted May 20, 2015 (edited) Here is a quick update of my evil orc horde since it's been awhile. I was kind of in a rush, hence none of them having their weapons equipped and the crappy pictures (they don't look nearly as imposing without them ). I will get better ones once I finish the bases/scenery I am working on. Nazgul and Wargs Goblin King and Cave Trolls Uruk-hai Edited May 20, 2015 by Deathleech Quote
LegoFanfromPR Posted May 20, 2015 Posted May 20, 2015 My armies are complete at last. The showdown is inevitable. The Emperor and three other kings will join forces to stop the Dragon King once and for all. But will their combined might be enough to vanquish the Lord of the Dragons? Wodanis Posted June 16, 2015 Posted June 16, 2015 (edited) Hi Everyone, I used to be a collector of Castle as a kid and when I finally came out of my second dark age I was very fond of the Dragon Knights from 2011-2012. Unfortunately I was so busy buying up Star Wars and City sets I had little money to spend on Castle and missed out. This was a summer project of sorts to build up small faction armies. The cost of these mini-figures was pricey especially for shields so I had to limit things a bit however I think my new army turned out well. There are 61 figures in total. I did not include the photo of the two peasants I made. I have all my old forest men and Falcon/Lion knights in storage. When I get around to it I will try to take photos of them. I am still working on my light box and so these were done with a makeshift version, forgive the quality. I present to you my Dragon Knights, English Lions and French Lioness armies with Kings. I've uploaded these larger photos on my flickr account. Edited June 16, 2015 by Wodanis Quote

I won't take credit for the mace as another member of EuroBricks thought of it in his MOC. However I liked it very much. Your characters look indeed original I'm currently in the process to start a big Fantasy project featuring several races but I'm finding very difficult to acquire "human" Castle/Fantasy Minifigures. I have Orcs, Elves and even some race I'm going to make using some Chima parts but the only human ones ( a part a couple of The Hobbit characters) are those in the Castle pack from Lego shop but it seems a little overpriced. I'd try to get few Minifigures from Bricklink but I can't find sellers in my country who have what I need and ordering from other countries sellers usually increases the cost a lot, especially if I have to buy from several sellers because none of them has everything I'm looking for Anyway, congratulation again for your army: it's a very interesting one Quote

Ayrlego Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 (edited) After months of following this thread I am finally posting my first army. I kept putting off posting 'for just one more bricklink order'!!! Anyway this is my Lenfel themed army from LoR over on Merlins Beard. Lenfel Rangers and Scouts by David, on Flickr Lenfel Knights and Regular Infantry by David, on Flickr Lenfel Knights by David, on Flickr Lenfel Melee Infantry by David, on Flickr Lenfel Pikemen by David, on Flickr I've been in love with dark green since I returned from lego after my dark ages (It wasn't a colour I had as a kid), so naturally I 'needed' to make a dark green themed castle army! I am also working on Red and Blue themed armies. Edited December 10, 2015 by Ayrlego Quote
