SirBlake Posted September 9, 2022 Posted September 9, 2022 Nice looking army! My one complaint: that’s just too many left handed soldiers. They tended to force right handedness back in the day. Quote

Ravelino Posted October 19, 2022 Posted October 19, 2022 (edited) Not much of an army (yet) as I've still to collect some more of those BAM knights and dark red torsos to fill up the ranks. Thrown together a few months ago because I had little time/inspiration to build for the summer joust. To present and store it in a nice way, a base has been added. The idea is that I can remove the 2x2 tiles with flames and lay the figs in the base/tray and make a stack of trays with figbarfs to use in future MOCs. More pics can be found at: https://www.bricksafe.com/pages/ClipsAndTiles/white-falcons Front (from left to right) : King's brother and high general, youngest princess, eldest princess, crown prince, king, queen, sorceress, captain of the royal guard (and husband of the sorceress) Second row fltr: First pikeman, swordmaster, king's uncle and high priest secretly also head of the secret service, king's assassin (mistress of the high priest), lieutenant of the heavy cavalry, earl and his son, halberdier Back row(s): Archer, second pikeman, light infantryman with sword, heavy infantryman with greatsword, daughter of the light infantryman to her left and the heavy cavalrywoman to her right, light infantryman with sword (female, illegitimate daughter of the assassin and the priest), light infantryman with sword and flail, halberdier, crossbowman (son of the heavy infantryman with large sword) And in the back two bannermen on horse. MAB Posted October 19, 2022 Posted October 19, 2022 The stackable build trays / display stands is a nice idea. Although it does look like they have been massacred! Quote

I particularly like your cavalry squadrons, as a former cavalry officer 😉👍. Question: do you actually use all these figures in your MOC-stories? I'm curious about that 🤔. 🫡👍 On 10/19/2022 at 2:34 PM, Ravelino said: Not much of an army (yet) as I've still to collect some more of those BAM knights and dark red torsos to fill up the ranks. AmperZand Posted December 26, 2022 Posted December 26, 2022 Not sure if wizards qualify as an 'army'. Not even sure what the right collective noun is: college, coven, council? Anyway, here are some of my good human wizards. I have others, as well as non-humans, but not pictured. Quote
SirBlake Posted December 26, 2022 Posted December 26, 2022 That's fun. A bunch of my armies have a wizard, why can't an army BE wizards? Quote

In some settings such as those in most D&D worlds, a group of high level (i.e. powerful) wizards could certainly hold their own against melee, missile and monster combatants. Likewise in the Marvel universe where sorcerers such as Wong, Dr Strange and their sorcerous companions are portrayed in battle in the MCU. Quote

Hi there AmperZand, maybe wizards don't man an army but I think they form a Magical Bond. And this could well be mightier than a regular army. 🧙🏻♂️ Quote
AmperZand Posted December 27, 2022 Posted December 27, 2022 @Vliebricker, Yes, I can well imagine a squad of powerful wizards being the equal of an army of knights, men-at-arms and rank-and-file soldiers. In my headcanon, wizardry takes innate ability, considerable intellect and long years of study as an apprentice to a powerful wizard or at a university/college of magic, making wizards extremely rare. If that were not the case and any Joe Schmo could master the arcane arts, wizards would dominate the battlefield - and the world! Quote
lenzie Posted January 2, 2023 Posted January 2, 2023 (edited) There are some IMPRESSIVE armies in this thread, I just discovered it. I'm inspired to craft more squads and armies in this New Year! Here's a video of the making of my Black Falcon's Fortress garrison: Garrison photos here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/160655025@N08/albums/72177720299201257 Edited January 2, 2023 by lenzie Quote
Classic_Spaceman Posted January 2, 2023 Posted January 2, 2023 Black Falcons vs. Lion Knights comparison: I noticed that while the Black Falcons have armour on their arms and legs, the Lions do not (just a tunic over chainmail); as the Falcons' design is a rough approximation of partial plate armour, I gave them crossbows, breastplates, and later-Medieval helmets (visors and kettle helms). The Lions, conversely, appear to have an earlier Medieval design, so I use longbows, nasal helms, and greathelms for them. While not entirely historically-accurate, I find that these distinctions create a nice contrast between the factions. Quote

I especially like the soldiers with the halberds and the kettle hats. Somehow, that style of helmet really suits them. My vampire army - with some sarcophagi for flavour: Quote
legoknight65 Posted February 2, 2023 Posted February 2, 2023 Hey guys, nice army's! i just wish people would get back on here. Quote
Rjbricks Posted February 3, 2023 Posted February 3, 2023 Took some photos but they were all too big to post on the forum :( Quote
SirBlake Posted February 3, 2023 Posted February 3, 2023 For those interested in army building, Bricking Up Brad on YouTube (great castle content!) is having a livestream debate tonight with shytimeismytime who has an obscenely large Black Falcons army. Check it out and tell Brad that Blake sent you! Quote

Then you don't have to worry about the file sizes etc. For some reason though it wasn't working for me when I re-tested it just now for this post (?) ...but I've done that for other posts for sure! Give it a try. Quote
Rjbricks Posted February 6, 2023 Posted February 6, 2023 Will give the Flickr way a go and see how it turns out (also noticed that my photography is terrible!). My Black Falcons. Who are more of a religious military mercenary company. Not convinced about the silver helms for these guys. In the process of updating with dark pearl grey. Quote
Arjo Posted March 2, 2023 Posted March 2, 2023 We’ve seen beautiful troops in this thread but, unless I am mistaken, has no one been amassing cmf orcs for that very purpose? Would love to see how you customized them if you have:) Quote

I have 11 orcs myself. they are a bit hard to come by for me, lol. ofc I could buy them from scalpers but my rule when it comes to lego is to never spend more than the recommended retail price. too bad I guess.
